In order to make it easier, you can copy paste this path (by pressing Ctrl + L and Ctrl + V):
Computer\HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Policies\Microsoft\Windows\
And when "Explorer" is created, there paste:
DisableSearchBoxSuggestions

if it doesnt work for anyone you have to open taskmanager and right click on the process windows explorer and hit restart

Working perfectly in windows 11 pro. Just a heads up, you need to restart your computer (or just explorer.exe) to get the registry change to kick in.

@@mgratk Bad news! This is especially silly because the very valuable Britec videos are about PC issues which imply a grown-up screen! Even when I use a phone to video I use a conventional horizontal aspect - possibly as I am a former broadcast engineer! I cannot abide the vertical format and it is a big switch-off for me.
Never understood why iPhones can't be used to film horizontally. Problem solved.
Also can't scrub the video, which sucks.

Didn't work, I followed exactly (Tripple checked), its still doing web searches instead of searching for apps ON my pc..
You have to restart or at least taskkilll explorer.exe and run again. But I hope this really disable web search, not just camouflage it.

wow now it is useful before it wouldnt even open I would type something and it would just turn white and disappear
...yeah a lot of web results after this...(And I have edited regedit first time 24 years ago. I'm pretty sure, I did as instructed. I also restarted the Explorer in taskmanager with the same result.)
Works great. But shorts are garbage, you go too fast and there is no rewind.

I had to restart my computer (win 10), then it worked for me. Mabey this will help someone.

Do ctrl+SHIFT+esc to get to task manager, select “windows explorer” and click restart, ur desktop Will disappear for a second but it will come back and then you won’t get search suggestions

I really dislike this format too, for the already mentioned reasons. The content I used right away. Just dislike the RUclips shorts limitations, especially in how to do something type videos. If I need to go back to see again how something was done, I can't. I hate having to watch the whole thing over again just to rewatch something I didn't get the first time around.
