    This fixes the search application, but not the underlining problem which is a faulty system DLL installed by a recent Windows update. The only real fix to this problem is to uninstall (or rollback if not possible) specific updates that breaks some core system (such as Cortana which is, in W10, the core internal part of the search system even if you're not using it).

    • @soheil5710
      @soheil5710 2 года назад +2

      Hi, just wanted to let you know that rolling back updates did not solve the issue. However, the powershell command luckily did.
      Is there a way to repair/reinstall those files yourself?

    • @creationsmaxo
      @creationsmaxo 2 года назад +1

      @@soheil5710 The only way I have found is to do a full purge & reinstall Windows from scratch which comes with the ugly pain of having to reinstall everything afterward. (To do a full purge, you need to do a HDD or SSD format of the storage that has Windows installed which also means you'll have to reinstall all the software again even if you got them installed on a separate storage since Windows loose any reference or DLL or Register entries required by those software.)
      I did tried to even do a soft reinstall of Windows 10 (if you select "Keep Apps & Files" instead of formatting), but that keeps the faulty DLL which returns the problem.
      A clear install will only works if you're able to install a version AFTER the faulty update that breaks stuff. If your stuff broke with any update from the last 6 months or so, you might have to wait a while before doing a purge & reinstall as Windows might reinstall the same faulty update (in its chain of updates) anyway. If you know which update is at fault, you can look up if there's any major update afterward in Microsoft updates' list chart. If there's a major update, you'll usually have a clear install from that point if you download the latest Windows USB installer flash files.

      is this problem still on going, because i cant use my search bar or search anything in the settings?

    • @creationsmaxo
      @creationsmaxo Год назад

      @@LandonMartin-vn9rb For now, the only way I have found that fixes the problem is to create a new User, copy/paste from 1 C:\Users\[USER NAME] to the other the following folders : AppData, Download, Documents (and other folder with files you want to keep. Just a reminder that you got to set the folder settings to display hidden folder to see the AppData folder.)
      Then I deleted the original user account and the problem was fixed for the new user.
      The good part is that doing so (especially copying the AppData content from 1 to the other) allows you to keep about ~80% of the stuff you have previously installed. The remaining ~20% is stuff that couldn't be installed for all users and you got to install it back in.
      Just quick note: Check if the problem is still on with the new user first before copying/transferring/deleting anything. If the problem persists, your problem might be a different kind than mine.

    Just a tip, I didnt need to restart my PC to take effect but this DID work for me. Also worth mentioning that windows troubleshooter is about as useful as a bent screwdriver because the first time it ran the trouble shooter it did something and didnt fix my issue but re prompted the screen asking my issue to which I reselected the issues and ran the troubleshooter again to which it spit me out to a different screen saying it fixed the problem. And surely it did. But only after the 2nd attempt of running the troubleshooter. So yes this worked but it was a little more complicated for me so maybe this comment might help someone. Cheers :)

    Thanks, man! You probably just saved me from reinstalling windows 10. The second part of the solution is what did it for me. For some reason, PowerShell would not allow me to paste text, so I had to type it all out by hand, being careful of those odd spaces. But after the restart, that issue was solved as well. Two problems solved for free = like, comment and subscribe.

    Restart Windows Font Cache Service
    Sometimes, you can resolve Windows Search issues by restarting Windows Font Cache Service. To do this, follow these steps:
    Windows key+R, enter services.msc to open the Services console.
    In the right pane, right-click Windows Font Cache Service, and then select Stop.
    Try to search again.
    In the Services console, right-click Windows Font Cache Service, and then select Start or Restart.
