- Can't type in Windows 10 Search Bar? If you are unable to type on windows 10 search bar or windows 10 search bar is not working, then you can fix this issue by following the guide on this video. Most people are unable to type on search bar on windows 10 and some are unable to use cortana and start menu.
Scripts used in the Powershell
First Script:
PowerShell -ExecutionPolicy Unrestricted
Second Script:
Get-AppXPackage -AllUsers |Where-Object {$_.InstallLocation -like "*SystemApps*"} | Foreach {Add-AppxPackage -DisableDevelopmentMode -Register "$($_.InstallLocation)\AppXManifest.xml"}
Third Script:
$manifest = (Get-AppxPackage Microsoft.WindowsStore).InstallLocation + '\AppxManifest.xml' ; Add-AppxPackage -DisableDevelopmentMode -Register $manifest
So, if you are facing any of the following issues then this guide will help you to fix the problem.
Problem that this video aims to solve:
1) Start menu not working on Windows 10
2) Search bar not working on Windows 10

If you are having any of those problems mentioned above and unable to use search on Windows 10 and unable to type anything on search menu then, it will be fixed after you apply the fix on this video.

This problem has been driving me crazy and I tried every solution on the internet with no results until running across your video. Thank you so much for posting this. Even after speaking to Microsoft I couldn't fix the problem. I knew it was an error that happened during install and files were corrupted I just didn't know how to fix this until you posted this video. For anyone that still couldn't use search after following these instructions please remember to restart your computer or laptop and then try again.

Restart Windows Font Cache Service
Sometimes, you can resolve Windows Search issues by restarting Windows Font Cache Service. To do this, follow these steps:
Windows key+R, enter services.msc to open the Services console.
In the right pane, right-click Windows Font Cache Service, and then select Stop.
Try to search again.
In the Services console, right-click Windows Font Cache Service, and then select Start or Restart.

Usually after waiting awhile after booting up I would be able to type. Followed your steps though, and it seemed to fix all issues. Hopefully it stays that way. (I have windows 11 btw, still helped!)

No. it did not solve the issue and search did not start working.
Unfortunately, it didn't help...I restarted after following all the steps, and still can't search. My issue is that if I click the search button, the search interface comes up for a second, then crashes.
following your video step by step, i cannot stress enough STEP BY STEP, and the indexing process keeps pausing? just goes "indexing is paused" and thats that. no way to fix it. no way to unpause. I restart it and it pauses again.
