    Did 3 pairs of alligator jumpers yesterday and only half of them went on that easy. Sometimes it can be a chore to get the wire through the hole. I also placed a small washer to help hold wire on. Works like a charm.

      Thanks for the feedback! Yes, they're kind of difficult. I think I had to try several times on this video to get it right. But works great once it's all connected! Take Care

    That's for this video. I'm use to the old school clips which were called roach clips back in my day. lol

    haha! I usually need about a day or two to reply to most comments. The size of wire depends on your application. If it is a low voltage circuit, you can typically get away with 20 or 18 gauge speaker cable. If you need a higher voltage circuit, then 14-12 gauge is probably better. Most hard ware stores will have a wide selection of wire sizes and lengths. Also, they should have at least one or two different styles of alligator clips. Best of luck!

    yea they have clamps of all sizes, you'd basically be looking for replacement jumper cable clamps.

    I am not sure who to blame for this method. You or the manufacturer. Maybe if you used a ring terminal it would have looked better.

    If you don't have any hardware stores by you, then yes, you can usually substitute any type of copper wire

    just clearing out my inbox, looks like i forgot to reply, SORRY! It's not a problem if they don't have screws, most will have a "crimp" attachment so you just have to bend the metal down to hold the wire in place. All you need is a firm metal/electrical attachment and they'll work fine

    If my alligator clip gets too dry and the plastic around it tends to crack,is there anything i can do to make the plastic return to it's normal elasticity or at least less dry? Thanks if someone read this :)

    • @montecarlo712

      Nah, I haven't really found a solution to that... seems like they all wear out with time. Sometimes silicone (used in car detailing) can be used to keep certain types of plastics and rubbers in relatively good condition.

    I would prefer to solder the wire because It would be more reliable than using a screw

    I know nothing about anything having to do with stuff like this cause I'm stupid lol, could someone tell me exactly what you would use these for? I found some of the original Mueller ones and was wondering what they were for. Like to test a battery? To ground something you're working on? I'm stupid and curious lol

    you didn't crimp the alligator clip at the neck- any pull will be on the terminal on the clip.

    I just bought several clips exactly like you have off mouser.com and they didn't come with the screws. What screw size do they use?

    • @montecarlo712
      @montecarlo712 9 лет назад +2

      Hello Andrew! (I'm using my other account) Honestly, I'm not totally sure. The screws aren't really necessary, it just ensures a tight grip. I had used non-screw terminal clips for years without a problem. You can use the frayed copper wire and wind it multiple times for a firm attachment. Otherwise, there should be prongs on the clips that you can bend onto the wire to help secure. Otherwise, if you want to hunt down screws. Most hardware stores have a "machine bolt" sizing chart which would help facilitate screw sizing. Hope that helps, take care!
