What is the idea behind thickness or thinness of wire???

A thin conductor has a higher resistance than a thick conductor. So if we pass too much current through a thin conductor it gets very hot and likely to start a fire.
If we need more current we must use a larger cable so the cable does not get hot in normal operation. To prevent prevent cables overheating we use fuses or circuit breakers.

6-8 Awg wire will be good for any Car and SUV.

Less the wire gauge more will be the cost.
Optimum Awg/guage will be 6-8 for SUV and cars. Although some jumper cables are available on Amazon claiming 2AWG and cost is around 2500 INR
