- Drawing inspiration from the stark New Mexico landscape and Navajo traditions, author Tony Hillerman's novels focused on the idea of hózhó (or xojo). This refers to beauty, harmony, and the interconnectedness of the natural world. This video is an excerpt from a short documentary produced for the Los Angeles Times Book Prizes. Hillerman was the 2004 Kirsch Award winner. Video by John Vande Wege

Wow!
I went to college in 1987 as a single parent. I’m a science major. I took a class to brush up on basic English to assist my writing. My professor introduced us to Mr Tony Hillerman and I was hooked. He was brilliant.
lucked out had lunch with him, wish I had know him better so to ask more questions
YOu were indeed very lucky. I only wish I could have known him, even a little.
I love Tony Hillerman so much! One of our great American storytellers.
