600 Wheel Horsepower from a stock 5.5L Motor. GM killed it with this power plant for sure!
So does it make more at the crank than advertised? Cause isn’t the loss like 15 percent ?
@@MrSupersaiyangoku modern DCT transmissions are typically under 10% loss. 9% loss in this case.

@@LearningFast perhaps slightly underrated. The last pull was 610 SAE HP. I’m guessing the carbon wheels help as well with less rotating mass.

@@Map71Vette 2 more cylinders and I think the hp was off the crank not the wheels. Big difference. Also 5.5 liter chevy vs 8.4 viper. Come on man really.

That's right on the money. 670 crank and 600 at the wheels is about a 10 percent loss. Considering it's a dual clutch transaxle, 10 percent loss sounds about right. Awesome car!

Thank you guys for doing a REAL Dyno test with this. So many times people simply roll over and whine when the car doesn't make its HP rating at the wheels. These are real numbers!!

It's rated 670 and has a dct (less driveline loss) and carbon fiber wheels (also less loss) that is why it puts out this power. It's right in line with the 670 rating.
That is one of the best motors I've ever heard.
That dip in power at 6200k rpm could also be one of those intake runner valves either opening or closing. Either way it's a sick car and congrats on the car man!

Pretty accurate to Chevrolets claim of 670 crank, little more than 10% drivetrain loss, very impressive 600whp from a N/A 5.5L V8, can’t wait to see what ZO6/ZO7 does Lightning Lap in, and what the Twin Turbo ZR1 version puts down.

Not underrated at all. Most C8s are showing 10-11% drivetrain loss.

Because the complete trans and rear end assemble bolts directly to the engine. Calculated drivetrain loss is 12.5 to 13% . Also the DCT gobbles up less horsepower than normal automatic trans . A conventional manual trans gobbles up less horsepower than a conventional auto trans.
People guess at drivetrain loss with no regard for drivetrain setup. Mid/rear engine cars are gonna have less drivetrain loss than front engine cars
dct's arent taking away all the hp, unlike junk hellcats that have like half the advertised hp XD

Austin, please use a Dragy(or equivalent) to test the 0-60 mph. The on board recorder isn’t anywhere close to accurate. It really needs to be measured by a separate GPS based device.

THAT SOUND!!! ... way more impressive than the power. Running at some tracks that have lower dB limits could be a issue Austin, but I'm sure it'll be a missile at Luguna.

This car is elite, definitely underrated!! At 610 rear wheel horsepower compared to 670 at the crank. This car is definitely underrated with only a 9% loss between the two.
I'd be interested to see 3 identical Z07 s on the Dyno & how close they'd be. I'm guessing about no more than 3-5 hp different.
Most C8s show a 10-11% drivetrain loss.
@@EK-rr2md sounds about right, these mid engine cars probably lose a little less than a front engine. 610hp is plenty plus it looked very linear.Was building all the way past 8,500.
The power is NOT underrated. The DTC transmission and clutch drastically reduce parasitic loss. The C8 Stingray rated at 495 crank HP by GM puts down 445 to 449 rwhp (also 9 to 10%). Videos all over YT with C8 Stingrays pulling these numbers.
