Most people would know peter sagan got 3 rainbow on road race in a road, not sure how many remember Tony martin did 3 in time trial as well.
Who was the most successful world champion……?? Depends on the wins I’d say…. But over 3years I’d say Peter Sagan would be right up there at the top??

One thing to consider here is that the rainbow Jersey is largely judged on the season after it was won - not the same season it was won. So for example although Stephen Roche famously (or infamously) won the Giro and the Tour and the rainbow Jersey all in the same year - 1987 - he did not win the Giro and Tour as world champion.
I think Peter Sagan is a good shout - just by virtue of having won it three times in a row he deserves it... Of all his many acheivements that will surely ho down as his greatest.
