The first tutorial / instruction that actually worked! I've tried a few times with different methods and failed everything and gave up. Now the battery on my opener is dying and I figured I'd give my car link one more go and wallah...it worked! Thank you!
2014 IS250 and this worked. A few extra quick presses on the car homelink at the end of the ceiling opener's learn process seemed to make it work for sure. Thanks for the clear and simple video!
Best tutorial for programming the remote of the three I watched. One thing, though ... Some garage door opener wall control panels include the Learn button on them, so there's no need to back out the car and climb the ladder for that step. I'd been delaying this task for my new car until I caught sight of that button.
Great information. Please note if your car has HOMELINK version 3 and if you have yellow button it will never work. you need to get repeater or upgrade your HOMELINK mirror to version 4. This is key.
Yes you can. Just make sure during the set up process you get that remote programmed and stored in the vehicle. That way if the other door is at another location, all you have to do is press the learn button followed by the car home link button. 👍🏼
@@awgenes so when you want to program multiple doors/gates you'll want to start from scratch. Step 2 where you program the remote to the HomeLink. Go ahead and program the gate remote. Same step, just point gate remote 1-5 inches away from the HomeLink and press both buttons until you get a rapid blink. Then continue to step 3.

@@p_enta5012 I bet you're trying to program to a Chamberlain LiftMaster garage door opener? With a yellow antenna or Learn button. If so, you'll need a HomeLink repeater kit. @@AverageHuman7026 hey thanks for the follow! I try to reply to every comment. Now if you have cleared out the HomeLink memory and you still can't get that red LED to rapid flash, you more than likely need a HomeLink repeater. Yes, I know it's totally stupid. But with those Blue cover Chamberlain machines they did something with the circuitry that makes some vehicles not pick up the signal. That's why your red light keeps flashing slowly. The HomeLink can't pick up the frequency. So a repeater is needed to do that. HomeLink repeater is pretty cheap and easy to do. LiftMaster 855lm Homelink Repeater Kit a.co/d/g3S9rJZ
Glad it worked out for ya! So with your gate. A lot of the times the remotes to those are dip switches. Meaning, just press and hold the home link and remote until LED starts rapidly flashing. Done! But, you may have a rolling code on the gate which will require pressing a learn button on that unit. Hope that helps.
Question: I have not seen my issue addressed here. I do NOT have a remote to my garage door, only the wall and panel. None of the tutorials or videos I have seen address this issue. Please help.
@@KristaMurry well, unfortunately MOST HomeLink s in vehicles need a remote to program. I understand you have a wall mounted button. But that wall button is a wired device not radio controlled. My suggestion is to order a Universal remote and program it to your opener. That way you'll have a backup.
So far not working. On the 3 clicks , are they quick presses ( I notice the light blinking when you do it) or do you have to hold each press for a certain period of time?
Press in and out firmly. It's not a race, so go slowly. And it could take up to four or five presses for it to recognize the opener. But typically it's just three.
For 2024 RX350h, resetting is the same per this video, but during programming it's unnecessary to hold the remote and the selected button (for example button #1) together at the same time. Rather, just press button #1 until it starts to blink rapidly, then press the remote until the homelink LED turns green. Good luck.
You're welcome! A lot of gate remotes are dip switches. So programming the gate is easier than programming to the garage door actually. Just take your gate remote, hold 3-5 inches away, press gate remote button and Homelink button at the same time. Keep holding both buttons until the HomeLink LED flashes rapidly. Done! Sometimes you have to clear the HomeLink and program the garage door again and then the gate, just FYI.
It works for my garage thank you, but also do you know how to link homelink and my gated community gate? I'm using the same methods and it's not working.
Yes. You want to program all remotes to the car like in step 2. Then press the learn button for each corresponding opener and program them each one at a time. Some gates you only have to program remote to Homelink. Leaving out the learn button step. But some gates you have to activate the learn button from the unit and then continue to step 4. Hope that helps.
These worked for my 2010 IS350. Just something to note: depending on your garage door opener, the "learn" mode might trigger while you go through this process and in that case, you won't need to hit the "learn" button on the garage door opener, at all. If you accidentally do hit it, you might need to press it 1 or 2 times to get it back into learn mode again.
Glad it worked out for you! 🙏 FYI, the learn button will never just turn on. Pressing the learn button only requires 1 press (in and out). You don't want to press it multiple times because if you have a newer Chamberlain LiftMaster you'll throw it into force setting mode, which you don't want.
@@garagedoorgenius I replaced my garage door opener today with a newer one (belt version, much quieter). Had to look up this video again to see how to connect my car to the opener. Worked exactly as you described. I guess I must've been playing around with the "learn" button the last time I did this. Thanks again!
Homelink in my Lexus don’t blink it just stay solid wonder if its don’t work anymore thinking of buying new mirror any suggestion very frustrated. Forgot how I did it first time , came back home don’t work the light just stay solid
Some gates all you have to do is step 2. Which is point remote at HomeLink, press both and hold until HomeLink starts flashing fast. Then try the gate. But program everything at once. Because first step is important, erase the HomeLink memory.
If the gate doesn't still work then locate a learn button on the gate. May have to take the case off of it to access. It should be labeled and located on the circuit board. Unless it has an external reciever. Then the learn button will be in the reciever box. Press the learn then go back to the car and press the HomeLink in and out 3-5 times.
I suggest go to a local hardware store or Amazon and buy a universal remote. Universal remotes program to most opener brand makes and models. And also, you'll have a spare remote. And if you ever move that universal will program to the garage door opener at the new place. So money not wasted IMO.
