A 5? Criminal rating mate. Loads of wheel to wheel action, penalties, Magnussen and Hulk both in the points, Piastri's recovery drive, Carlos was untouchable, LeClerc's arse-clenching save, Lawson and Colapinto on fire again, Carlos getting the Spanish national anthem on Nando's 400...It was a great race
It was ok. I think it had some good action at the start with a bit of controversy. Then there was a lull for a lot of it. Only Lawson driving into everyone, and Hamilton unable to pass Russell for a while. It was entertaining but I doubt I'll remember it in 8 months time.
Well tbf sainz was touchable, he just said that the only driver getting close to him was "taking the piss" which is rich after his dive bomb show in the usa
not sure i agree with Tommo's idea of classing bad driving, penalties and shunts as fake drama and not real excitement tbh, but i get where he's coming from
I would have gone 5-6 too. Was a good race but nothing much better than average. Only battle for the lead was early, no pitstop/strategy drama. The cars were racing close and it certainly wasn't a stinker but a 7+ rating is crazy to me unless you're one of those people that give 7's for average
I will never understand how you rate these races, I feel like every banger you find boring and every race I'm falling asleep you find a banger. It's truly a mystery to me
The funny thing to me is after COTA Horner said (when he was asked about Lando's penalty) "It was a clear penalty, if the roles had been reversed we would have asked Max to give back the position". Literally a week later Max pushes Lando off the track and overtakes him off the track and I didn't hear the radio message to Max "Give back the position". Sure, there is a chance that we were just not given that message.
Tbf I would say lando was trying to let max passen to not risk a penalty again but did it on a terrible spot, if Lando would have been in fault for the first one then its a saudi 2021 situation where he lets somebody by on a terrible spot on purpose
I just watched back Max's onboard on F1TV (containing all of his Team Radio). He was not given anything at all. Apart from standard things (like gaps, drs behind and leader pace) the first radio message after the incident is GP telling Max he has a penalty.
In regards to the Max penalties, imo this is the result of letting Max get away with so many incidents just like these today. The stewards were afraid to punish him cause they didn't want to discourage racing but that just means he gets away with these more often than not. Secondly, I grew up watching Nascar where they either give you space cause there's always a wall or they just outright wreck you (intentional or not). In F1 it's about "who owns the corner" and that breeds incidents like this in that Max will just simply try to beat his rival to the apex simply because that then means he gets a pass to do whatever he wants. So to me, Austin last week and Mexico today are the same incident but Lando was finally smart to it and was able to keep ahead and own the corner by the rules into T4. To me this is always irritating because this way of thinking about wheel to wheel racing is always going to leave grey areas for incidents time and time again. To me, "all the time you need to leave the space" really should be the general thought process. Not this penalty inducing, rage-baiting, who owned the corner racing. Leave the space or get a penalty. Learn to pass cleanly without cheekily forcing your rival off, even if it's harder. These are the 20 best drivers in the world as we all preacj over eveey other motorsport. Prove it

I give it a 7. It began with loads of action, battles in the midfield, Piastri and Verstappen climbing, Checo beefing with Lawson, Colapinto holding his own. The middle wasn't busy and the end was kinda boring, but a lot of races don't even have that.
He said « if I hadn’t gotten the penalties I would’ve finished 4th but Lando would’ve won ». That’s his reasoning, nothing more than that. He was slowing lando down enough to make sure he wasn’t gonna win. Lando p1-max p4 is a 13points swing. Lando p2 and max p6 is only 10 points
Verstappen destroyed the race for us, i think we would've seen an epic battle between Lando and Sainz, for me still a 7/10 there were plenty good fights, only thing missing was a fight for p1 at the end.
After COTA I tend to agree that the championship fight was over, but the fact that Max raced Lando so hard, almost desperate makes me believe that Max is under pressure and feels as if he could lose the championship. But I guess we'll have to wait and see.

I like tommo, but i cannot understand why he and other people say that Max's anger makes him make dumb descisions. People act like Max is dumb and didnt know what he was doing. He knows EXACTLY what he's doing. Ruining lando's race ad much as possible so he cant win. Such is the nature of Mexico, you need to qualify better and get in clear air, or risk overheating the car in dirty air. Plus Charles pushed like hell after the pit stop to cover Lando, his rears were finished and that resulted in his huge error on lap 63.
Max grew up with a verbally, physically, and emotionally abusive father. You are a product of your own upbringing. As I’ve grown I’ve noticed more and more of my dad’s behaviours reflected in how I act. Max learned to deal with anger and frustration in unhealthy ways. It only makes sense that he would make such a crazy move. He’s retaliating in the only way he knows how: aggressively, abruptly, and completely lacking in thoughtfulness. People that lack any semblance of emotional maturity will argue that Jos pushing Max so hard throughout his childhood is what made him a great racing driver. That’s probably true in some ways, but is this kind of traumatic upbringing the inevitable cost of success? Drivers like Lewis would beg to disagree. Just look at Anthony Hamilton vs Jos Verstappen, and you will see two very different men on the inside. That move was inexcusable. None of this excuses his actions, but ultimately there is a reason that Max acts like this. I feel for the guy. I hope he’s in therapy, because I just know he’s got a lot of trauma to work through.
I agree that Max's behaviour and attitude may be somewhat related to his upbringing and education but I think we can't overgeneralise. I know plenty of people who have been raised in ways that might leave them traumatised or damaged, but a lot of them have made complete U-turns and are completely different or have dedicated their lives to being a better person than those who raised them. We don't know enough about all of Max's influences to say for sure that his behaviour is linked to his upbringing and how he holds himself compared to his father.
I dont think it's that deep. Ever good racing driver abuses the rules and does everything to win especially if they know the are faster but the car isn't up to it. Senna, Micheal Schumacher (who was literally one of joe Friends and such where terrible people on Track. "What was Max thinking?" I genuinely think Max knew Lando's overtake would stand and Max doesn't care where he finishes as long as Lando doesn't win. So I think the plan was to get ahead, see if he could send a nose into the apex before Lando, and maybe he gets lucky and gets away with it. But if he doesn't get away with it (like what happened) he can slow Lando enough so that Lando can't go win the race. If Max let Lando go once Lando passed him, Norris would have likely caught Sainz and won, giving Norris a much needed points and confidence boost.
I am a huge Albon fan so there’s definitely bias in my opinion here, but I feel as if he’s just gotten unlucky in the race results in the last 3 Grand Prix. Cooling problem in Singapore and two turn 1 racing incidents/scenarios that gave him damage and or retired his car. I think his Q3 performance shows he’s still solid and he just needs to survive the first lap
In terms of entertainment, this race was a 9. In terms of racing it was a 9. I don’t think there was even 5 mins without action throughout the whole race. Brilliant race. P.S Lawson giving Perez the finger is absolute an absolutely gigachad move!
About Max's first 10 s penalty- 100% deserved. Why Lando got only 5 s at Austin- as I understand it was because the Stewarts noted that Max also went off therefore Lando could not possibly make the corner. But now Lando used Max's and RB's statement against them "be ahead at the apex". Lando was ahead, Lando made the corner without leaving the track, and only when Max pushed him off Lando took evasive action to avoid the crash and went off the track. So, by the letter of the law "be ahead at the apex" Lando was 100% right and Max pushed him off. The second incident should have been a black flag (maybe a little harsh, but cmon what Max did there was just stupid, very unsportsmanlike conduct). Max didn't even try to make that corner. It was Brazil 2021 all over again, but this time, Max at least got a penalty. Schumacher was later disqualified from the whole of 1997 for colliding with Villeneuve. If Max were to do something similar (meaning not attempt to make a corner to stay/ get ahead and then crash with Lando) in the next four races (plus two sprints), then I think McLaren should look into that.
The issue is making the corner is practically not part of the consideration. Max, defending or attacking, always aims at being ahead at the apex even if that means not making the corner and leaving the track. In Austin Max was defending and ahead of Lando at the apex ONLY because he was too fast to make the corner.
Yuki saw that he was making a 3-wide situation since he came from behind both of the other 2. Those incidents are usually deemed racing incidents but it was mainly on Yuki for creating that situation in the first place.
Sainz and his overtake on Max alone takes it to a 6 out of 10 for me. Then we had the Lando-Max chaos, Leclerc-Norris mini battle, Hamilton gently prodding Russell for 10 laps. So 7 out of 10. I watch the Mexico race expecting to fall asleep and I didn’t. So 8 out of 10 for the nice surprise!! Ok 7.5.
In my opinion a solid 7 out of 10. Loads of wheel to wheel action and the title fight has ramped up for the last four races of the season. Definite banger
i think liam is nervous to take a seat in RB 2025 because of rumours with colapinto because eventhough Franco Colapinto said yesterday to sky sport joutnalists he does not have a seat for next year … argentinians reporterts were interviewing Franco and when he finished and turn round he bumpted into Max Verstappen who Shake hands with him have a little chat and continues on his way , so argentine reporter asked Max about Franco and he said “ it is always a pleasure to see young drivers do great “ 😮😮😮
Red bull junior academy is a complete joke if franco goes to RB Already is a 9/10 joke with the fact they brought Ricciardo back, Tsunoda being there for years and Perez stinking up the gaff. But that would be the nail in the coffin
Funny you mention Schumacher... if Max had crashed Lando (and probably himself) out at T8, that, according to precedent when Schumi did it, should have disqualified him from the championship
100% agree with all the max comments you made, the second move was just so bad, no attempt at a real manoeuvre. Then after GP on the radio saying how much moaning there had been? He’s being max from 21 all again and it’s sad to not see a fair fight
hanilton had a car that he can push two maybe 3 times in 2024 and he won twice, sainz has a car that has won 5 times and could've won 6-7 he has won only 2 of those i don't think carlos is still any better than lewis at his worst year, that ferrari looks set to unlock hamilton's class
i am admittedly not a max fan but surely some of his pace towards the end was because he pushed too early in the beginning overtaking everyone - maybe it’s not just the car he doesn’t seem to manage his tires slowly same thing in hungary
A lot of things worth discussing but I think it's notable now how badly Max handles pressure. He's probably been under pressure 3 times in his career. Racing with Daniel at RB, 2021, and now. And in the first and last one, you could say its not that much pressure but still it's there. And every time he's turned into a crash happy maniac.
So I've missed very minimum races since the start of 2023 .... 3 of them just happen to be Carlos' last 3 wins🙃 My boy can win a race, I'm just not allowed to watch it live I guess😂 Lovely chinwag as always 🫶🏼
The weakest colapinto's race??? Sorry but what did you watched?? Franco had really interesting moves with piatris, and the batle with lawson. Without saying he had to deal with a 4.4 pit stop. Franco did amazing but he is still in team like Williams who need to improve a lot
I personally enjoyed it, but the strategy in the end left a little of a sour taste. They may have been able to get close to P10, had they not held off for so long for a SC or rain. But comparing it to his previous races, I would put it at 4th, with Monza being 5th, Austin and Singapore 2nd (despite not scoring points, it was a phenomenal effort) and Baku 1st. I'm really excited for Interlagos next weekend, the ambience with the Argentinian crowd will be a sight to behold
So let me get this straight: Checo is underperforming and therefore, you conclude, doesn't deserve his seat. On the other hand, Albon is underperforming but in his case it's just bad luck and you conclude he still deserves the seat instead of Colapinto, who is consistently proving to be Williams' better driver. I mean...bit hypocrytical.
What sort of absurd comparison is this? Perez has been an absolute disaster for more than a year now, has failed repeatedly to come even close to the level of his team mate, and is embarrassing himself in ways no one thought were possible, screwing up so badly that he not only costs his team the WCC but that they're gonna end up P3 in the WCC, losing tens of millions of dollars. He'll doing such a horrendous job that he'll end up P8 in the WDC while his team mate wins the Driver's Championship. How is that in any way comparable to Alex, who scored most of the points for his team, has repeatedly shown impressive performances this year alone, outqualified Colapinto by seven places this weekend and retired through no fault of his own? Just because Colapinto actually seems to be a competent driver compared to Latifi and Sargeant? What are you smoking, dude??? Holy shit.
To all of those who complained about what the races would look like if more drivers were as aggressive as Max. My goodness that was one of the most intense and exciting races this year hands down. Please sir may I have some more??!!!!
@@dontwanna1602 not sure what you're on about. I'm pointing out the fact that we HAD more drivers pushing the limits when it came to wheel-to-wheel battling and dive bombing into corners not afraid to make slight contact and it was great. The only people that didn't finish were Tsunoda and Albon before turn 1 and Alonso being called in due to mechanical failure. MANY drivers fighting as if they were posessed by Max's racing spirit and everyone finished the race, it was incredible to witness.
Liam made an impression in his track presence, kept it on track and tried to give space vs driving cars off track. Then complain when the new guy uses Alonso tactics on track and without penalty. Liam did good on the CV/Resume front,, I am much more concerned why Checo with all his experience dive-bombed a new driver in a sister team outside of the points. Been watching F1 since 1978 and the "Snowflakes" calling Max dangerous driver should consider Ballet as a sport !!!! I think this is nothing more than the FIA over compensating and bending the knee for the British Bias in F1 ... Or Maybe ...... just maybe they want a huge "Finaly in AB 2024" and is willing to sacrifice Max !??!?!?!?!
tbh I think they were overcorrecting for not giving him a penalty in COTA, it did feel a bit excessive but you can't say that he wasn't a lot more aggressive than the other drivers who did similar things, and in T4 he didn't even stay fully on track... he completely overshot the corner and forced Lando off, was Lando supposed to just teleport to the back of him or what? lol
I like the way Max races hard, by the way those dopes on Sky talked they want to wrap Lando in cotton wool and give him the championship. Bring back Daniel Riccardo replace checo as he is still under contract till years end

5????? At least a 7 😭
The issue is making the corner is practically not part of the consideration. Max, defending or attacking, always aims at being ahead at the apex even if that means not making the corner and leaving the track. In Austin Max was defending and ahead of Lando at the apex ONLY because he was too fast to make the corner.
10/10 race for me… but Sainz is my guy, so I’m biased. Without that??? 7ish.
Yuki saw that he was making a 3-wide situation since he came from behind both of the other 2. Those incidents are usually deemed racing incidents but it was mainly on Yuki for creating that situation in the first place.
Bring back the drive-thru penalty! It’s the superior option in many cases
Definite banger
i think liam is nervous to take a seat in RB 2025 because of rumours with colapinto because eventhough Franco Colapinto said yesterday to sky sport joutnalists he does not have a seat for next year … argentinians reporterts were interviewing Franco and when he finished and turn round he bumpted into Max Verstappen who Shake hands with him have a little chat and continues on his way , so argentine reporter asked Max about Franco and he said “ it is always a pleasure to see young drivers do great “ 😮😮😮
Red bull junior academy is a complete joke if franco goes to RB
Already is a 9/10 joke with the fact they brought Ricciardo back, Tsunoda being there for years and Perez stinking up the gaff. But that would be the nail in the coffin
Oh, and the De Vries nonsense
53:17 Could kinda see that next year if Bortoleto gets the Sauber seat
I think Max justified himself retroactively by saying Lando would have won if Max hadn't ruined his chance at the win
I am loving this constructors championship, would love either mclaren or Ferrari to win it, so happy for Carlos to win one more time before he left.
Funny you mention Schumacher... if Max had crashed Lando (and probably himself) out at T8, that, according to precedent when Schumi did it, should have disqualified him from the championship
I agree about the championship fight. The hill is just too big to climb for lando. Even with those lost 7 points
I had to drop in the comments and see if I was the only one that thought 5 was a criminal score for this race lol Lots, though I'm easily entertained
are hass the best of formula B?
100%
100% absolutely
Na Mercedes are
@@WaveFlightSimulations they won 3 races they’re not formula b.
100% agree with all the max comments you made, the second move was just so bad, no attempt at a real manoeuvre. Then after GP on the radio saying how much moaning there had been? He’s being max from 21 all again and it’s sad to not see a fair fight
7.5 lots of battles. Commentators were talking non stop
hanilton had a car that he can push two maybe 3 times in 2024 and he won twice, sainz has a car that has won 5 times and could've won 6-7 he has won only 2 of those i don't think carlos is still any better than lewis at his worst year, that ferrari looks set to unlock hamilton's class
i am admittedly not a max fan but surely some of his pace towards the end was because he pushed too early in the beginning overtaking everyone - maybe it’s not just the car he doesn’t seem to manage his tires slowly same thing in hungary
Bottas 23rd in a 20 car championship is sad
1:07:50 No chance that dude’s friend heard that from Lawson
A lot of things worth discussing but I think it's notable now how badly Max handles pressure. He's probably been under pressure 3 times in his career. Racing with Daniel at RB, 2021, and now. And in the first and last one, you could say its not that much pressure but still it's there. And every time he's turned into a crash happy maniac.
100%!
So I've missed very minimum races since the start of 2023 ....
3 of them just happen to be Carlos' last 3 wins🙃 My boy can win a race, I'm just not allowed to watch it live I guess😂
Lovely chinwag as always 🫶🏼
😮didn't know he was a king 😮
its crazy how this last GP was among the most entertaining for the year, not the best year for f1 i suppose
What’s going on with piastri after this last break? So unfortunate
Holy shit.
1:05:30 💀💀💀💀💀💀💀
The MApeX is well off track, thats why its allowed.
To all of those who complained about what the races would look like if more drivers were as aggressive as Max. My goodness that was one of the most intense and exciting races this year hands down. Please sir may I have some more??!!!!
Then a 60 lap race would be over in 20
@@dontwanna1602 not sure what you're on about.
5.... seriously? A 5 race is one that you fall asleep to after the first 10 laps
A 5 is bang average, meaning you fall asleep to roughly half of all races 🤣🤣 . . find another sport bro!
@@aranlewis8723 Tha how I see a five. 5 To me is similar to 50% of something with isn't good. That my view.
Tommo so fidgity during last pole! Adhd confirmed
Liam is behaving like Yuki, so, rb will consider that or just don't say anything
Daniel is done
Thats how he won against Lewis... why not do it against a less experienced Lando?
20:38 this is statistically true. The average of a big number of guesses tends to have a lower margin of error.
"King Carlos!!!" and they give him an Spanish flag. L
Hartley was average and behind the pack. Same with bourdais
Cola[into front wing was just racing. Red Bull Management summoned Lawson to be warned by Christine and DR Helmut Marko not to race too hard since they want to make it out of Mexico.
5 is greedy 😂

Huge Max fan here and I totally agree that Max should have gotten a Penalty ... especially for the second indecent ...but 20s ??????? What did Max do in turn 4 but defend ???? funny thing is he was on track ..... many other drivers did the same in turn 4 rubbing wheels without even a 5s penalty ???? .... If someone ever tell me again the FIA favors Max I will just say "Watch Mexico 2024 GP".......
Max's penalties were outrageous and just done to give out a statement rather than a normal ruling.
