As far as we know, China had created trading or economic blocs or signed trade treaties with most, if not all ASEAN countries, never military blocs or treaties. And then came the US, talking inflamatory speeches against China, instigating ASEAN countries to choose sides, wanting to set up military blocs, etc. purportedly for the security of the smaller countries. But we have never ever feel threaten by China or any other country around this region, except maybe alarmed by Australia's decision to nuclearised its submarines. Now, the US is here claiming to protect us but we see them starting to cause tensions and future chaos here. Do note that a developed China is a treat to the US, so will a developed ASEAN. We should reject any military interference from the US. Period.
You might want to ask China about its much-hated neighbor, Vietnam. Vietnam has vastly increased its defense spending in the last several years. I doubt it's because they're worried about the U.S. bombing Hanoi again. And while the Philippines sort of goes back and forth in terms of its overtures to China depending somewhat on who's president, almost everyone living there despises them for one reason or another. ASEAN is certainly not a united front in not feeling threatened by China. Various countries lean strongly one way or the other.

As far as we know, China had created trading or economic blocs or signed trade treaties with most, if not all ASEAN countries, never military blocs or treaties.
And then came the US, talking inflamatory speeches against China, instigating ASEAN countries to choose sides, wanting to set up military blocs, etc. purportedly for the security of the smaller countries.
But we have never ever feel threaten by China or any other country around this region, except maybe alarmed by Australia's decision to nuclearised its submarines. Now, the US is here claiming to protect us but we see them starting to cause tensions and future chaos here. Do note that a developed China is a treat to the US, so will a developed ASEAN. We should reject any military interference from the US. Period.
You might want to ask China about its much-hated neighbor, Vietnam. Vietnam has vastly increased its defense spending in the last several years. I doubt it's because they're worried about the U.S. bombing Hanoi again. And while the Philippines sort of goes back and forth in terms of its overtures to China depending somewhat on who's president, almost everyone living there despises them for one reason or another. ASEAN is certainly not a united front in not feeling threatened by China. Various countries lean strongly one way or the other.
