You forget to mention that PLA still has political commissars at every level.Which is quite unique now consider Soviet Union get rid of theirs and in the end couldn't control their own military.
It's weird that both PRC and ROC has political commissars in their military
U forgot to mention Soviet Union declined comissars in 1942 and won ww2 without political commanders, that became battle commanders or privates depending to their abilities. Also Red Army accepted officer system in 1943, almost the same as in Russian Empire.
So does the Imperial guard and the 40k Ultramarines, and they're the most effective fighting force in the universe
@@tanjeeschuan4999this is effectively how all modern militaries work. Socialist states are just open and direct about it while liberal states put up pretenses of being otherwise. You couldn't be an open Communist in the US military if the US had a serious and powerful Communist movement for the same reason the Chinese aren't interested in letting globalist aligned liberals into their army. It's a direct threat to Chinese sovereignty in general, not just the CPC
actually the soviets didn't get rid of political officers the simply changed the name and their precise duties.
It's kind of ironic that the west both label China as aggressive but also laugh at China for not having enough combat experience since they haven't fight a war since 1979.
However, the reason why China lacks combat experience is that they don't need and have no idea of foreign aggression at all. For them, it is more important to protect their country and quickly organize forces to rescue in earthquakes, plagues and forest fires.
Because that''s a typical propaganda tactic. Saying your adversary aggressive but not competent at the same time. Powerful and simultaneously weak.
Both can be true, they are very agressive when enforcing the nine-dash line, for example. Doesn't mean they have combat experience as you'd find in an actual combined arms war.
I mean they are doing brinksmanship around Taiwan, and also sending ships into Japanese waters occasionally. That’s aggressive.
The experience of the United States is also to bully some small countries. These experiences lack reference significance in dealing with countries with comparable strength.

"Suffered heavy losses but were able to gain support from the Soviet Union" Is selling the chinese in the Korean War short. They had a lot of interesting tactics to counter superior US firepower and arguably a better grasp of the operations part of war.
Not really they were fighting a way superior opponent who had every advantage, I will admit tactically and sometimes strategically they would do some good maneuvers (Chosen being the biggest highlight) other then that it was very attritional, the loses they incurred basically stoped any hope of a Taiwan invasion for a very long time
@@enriqueperezarce5485 Taiwan's official name is Republic of China (ROC), according to its own constitution. ROC and PRC are still in a civil war situation.
@@enriqueperezarce5485 I mean the fact that the Chinese managed to fight the US to a stalemate while contributing the majority of the boots on the ground says something. Especially when you consider that contrary to the narrative of human waves, by the end of the war the number of Chinese and UN troops in Korea was pretty similar.
I think people are quick to point to Soviet support for why they were able to do so, but there's only so much air power can do to affect the outcome of a war.
They did have the incredible advantage of being on the same continent as the war they were fighting.
@@enriqueperezarce5485 At that time, Korea was a way more important than Taiwan was. I mean US had the airpower for the whole duration, so the PLA knew this very much that this could be very attritional.

If you’re China when it comes to military build up you’re stuck in a dilemma. If you build up your military of course your rivals aren’t going to like that.
But if China doesn’t build up its military then it can be exploited by others. This isn’t even speculation, just look at China during the 1800s and 1900s. Warlords took control of the country, foreign powers established their spheres of influence, British opium planted in India flooded their black markets, and then of course Japan invaded numerous times.
In other words, if China builds up its military it will be called a threat and if it doesn’t it will be threatened.
There could be a simpler solution though. For example, instead of an aggressive build up they could try a steady and slow military buildup.
Diplomatically speaking, aggressive wolf warrior tactics isn’t really helping them. Having a friendly and looking as non threatening as possible for as long as possible would’ve given them more time.
Us westerners also dont like the whole genocide of minorities thing.

@@Apple.CC.technomail America has bases all over the pacific, including South Korea and Japan. How would a slow military build up make any sense? I mean imagine the reaction if China had major military bases in Mexico.
China DID go the diplomatic route. Look at history! The diplomatic and friendly route hasn’t exactly worked for them seeing how the British flooded China with opium when trade wasn’t going their way or that Japan invaded them and committed some of the worst atrocities in history.

Which can really be interpreted as loosely as you want.

12:40 correction: 8 cruisers, or 0, depending on classification. PLAN classifies 055 as a destroyer by functionality, while the US classifies it as a cruiser by tonnage.

I hope Indians can read carefully and experience with their hearts. The huge difference in the founding of China and India determines the biggest difference between India and China. Just look at the modern history of both countries and you will understand. India has been colonized by Britain for more than 200 years. In 1947, Britain experienced World War II, its strength declined significantly, and its status was replaced by the United States. India achieved independence through non violent and non cooperative means. In other words, India's independence has not undergone the test of blood and fire. Such an independent country lacks cohesion, willpower, and a sense of national identity. Now let's talk about China. Since the British defeated the corrupt and incompetent Qing government in 1840, the Chinese people have been living in dire straits. Various disasters and wars followed one after another. At that time, China was very poor and backward, suffering various humiliations. Including the cession of Hong Kong and Macau, Taiwan becoming a Japanese colony, the Eight Nation Alliance setting fire to the Old Summer Palace, and subsequent Japan's comprehensive and brutal invasion of China. In 1931, Japan launched a full-scale invasion of China. From 1931 to 1945, the war lasted for 14 years. The Chinese military and civilians rose up to resist, fought with blood for fourteen years, and suffered 30 million casualties, ultimately achieving victory. Do you know why there are so many casualties in China? There are hundreds of reasons, and I will only give an example of one phenomenon: Chinese troops are in conflict with Japanese troops. Often, if the number of Chinese soldiers participating in the war is 100, they only have 20-30 firearms. The remaining soldiers did not give up resistance or surrender. They bravely fought against the Japanese machine guns and cannons with machetes, steel forks, and wooden sticks until they sacrificed themselves. This spirit of facing death as if returning home and never retreating is the Chinese spirit. 30 million casualties! Do you think this can happen in India? For India, it is zero casualties because their knees are soft. India will soon give up resistance. Do you know why there was the Nanjing Massacre? Due to the desperate resistance of the Chinese military and civilians, they will never surrender or give up. After Japan captured Nanjing, firstly to vent its anger, and secondly to scare off other Chinese soldiers and civilians in resistance. However, the Nanjing Massacre not only did not deter any Chinese people, but also further aroused the resistance of the Chinese people. The establishment of New China has gone through the test of blood and fire. Do you know why the Chinese national flag is red? That's because the establishment of New China was bought with the blood of countless Chinese ancestors, and we Chinese people will always remember it. From 1945 to 1949, during the Chinese Civil War, the Kuomintang fled to Taiwan. Originally, the Chinese people thought they could live a peaceful life they had longed for, but in 1950, the Korean War broke out, lasting three years. The Chinese People's Volunteer Army successfully resisted the northward route of the United States without air superiority, sea superiority, outdated army equipment, and extremely poor logistics, at the cost of losing hundreds of thousands of brave People's Liberation Army soldiers. As for India's unforgettable and shameful 1962 Sino Indian War, in the eyes of us Chinese, it was not a war at all. Firstly, it only took 32 days. Secondly, from 1959 to 1961, China experienced the most difficult three years since the founding of the People's Republic of China, during which many people starved to death. In 1962, India's economy far surpassed that of China. Both the United States, the Soviet Union, and Britain support India. At that time, India implemented a "forward policy" and attacked China with elite troops. We Chinese people really don't want to go to war. The Chinese troops that participated in the war with India in 1962 were ordinary border defense forces, not regular People's Liberation Army. In China, soldiers are known as the "cutest people". There is a Chinese proverb: without a country, there is no home, and soldiers are the backbone of the country. Thank you to our brave soldiers of the People's Liberation Army who are always ready to defend the borders of our motherland. No matter how India develops its military, it cannot surpass China. Whether in the past, present, or future, China can always defeat India. This is determined by the history and culture of both countries. Chinese people value the spirit of dedication and sacrifice. Do not surrender, do not surrender, vow to resist to the death, and face death as if returning on the battlefield. If Chinese soldiers surrender on the battlefield, it would be a great shame, and the spirit of dying rather than giving up is deeply engraved in the bones of every Chinese person. These are all things that Indians do not possess. So, even now or in the future, India will never be able to defeat China. Now, do you think India can stand tall in the world like China? Absolutely impossible.
I think India's military history has most of its ties with foreign powers. A lot of Indian military equipment is not Indian. That will take a while to get over, but I absolutely expect it to be achieved.

And well Albania didn’t go along with the Soviets so yea China saw itself as defenders of their ideology.

And the coast guard. We can add many more ships to the navy. Personal fishing vessels can be conscripted during war under laws passed at the beginning of the modernization process (I suppose to be used as transports? idk the value)

Edit: China's modernization didn't just begin under the communist and after the Korean War, China's army modernization had begun since the Self-Strengthening Movement in 1861, under the Qing Dynasty (China's last imperial dynasty). Ever since the self-strengthening movement, China has adopted western weapons and tactics.
Prob doesn’t want to mention the millions upon millions of deaths that it took to reach the point where they are now.
China doesn’t exactly have the cleanest history…

i'd like to see this too honestly, a two part series, one video from the israeli, and another from the egyptian perspective. The Syrian perspective isnt as interesting in my opinion, as someone whose read a lot from generals from all 3 countries.

PLA actually didn't officially went into Korean war. It was the Chinese voluntary army, made by volunteers across the entire country at that time, including to farmers, workers, and active military personels, who went to the war.
The CPC actually did want to interfere, as If the south won the war, the Americans and the west would be right at China's doorstep. It was called a volunteer army to lessen the perceived interference by the CPC.
The KMT soldiers who surrendered after losing the civil war in 1949 were involuntarily volunteered to fight the Korean war as cannon fodder.
"Volunteered" is certainly one way to say it.

Could you do a video on the battle of Alaska in World War Two? It was the Japanese invasion launched alongside the battle of Midway. It’s a hugely overlooked part of the pacific war. The American and Canadian forces were outgunned and under supplied, facing a vastly superior Japanese force while equipped with only ww1 gear and ships. If the Japanese succeeded they could have stopped lend lease to the soviets and raided the west coast.
Could u do a modern miltary of a country like el salvador or mexico?they have both been changing rapidly to battle the cartel.

Absolute masterpiece. I never thought I’d watch a movie I loved more than Road Warrior and was worried when I heard this was coming out but man I was blown away. I hear people complain about it just being all action and no story but that’s a terrible misrepresentation. It’s an amazing story told with a few words as possible and that sets it apart from most modern flicks. Love George Miller and I hope he keeps the story going!

PLA has already abandoned gorilla warfare tactics by the end of the civil war. PLA fought with the ROC with conventional war tactics. Also fought against the Americans in Korea with conventional war tactics

8:03 This one, I feel is more of a case of mistranslation and a different cultural concept for how to classify 'army'. The word in Chinese is 'jun'. This somehow is translated to English to 'Army', which is not accurate since China classifies all top level military organizations to this word. So the more accurate translation should be 'military' or 'armed forces' which is exactly what they are. For comparison, see the Chinese names of the ROC military.

Well they are also superpowers same with russia. U.k and France have both been superpowers since the end of ww2. Japan in recent history has become one and would be one if it ever starts a navy again.
