I have a wah on my board, but I really need to learn how to use it like you do…WOW, you are amazing. I have never found a really WAH class, even on TrueFire I cannot find one. Thank you.
Use my 535q wah quite a bit. In addition to the straight envelope tones with clean or into an octave fuzz, I love to use it cocked and as a frequency sweep when running my amp gained up. Your kick and snare section kinda had that hip hop scratch element (to me anyway) / terrific stuff throughout Jay. Loved the synth tones. This JAM wah looks awesome
I’ve gone through a bunch of wahs over the years and ALWAYS have one on my board. Def have some favourites Jay, but this one is going to be added to the list too! Super versatile, vocal and chewy!! Love it!!
Cool video and great playing! Good idea showing your playing and the foot simultaneously. There aren't too many lessons that show this. Many players struggle with vocal lead playing with the wah, because the required movements and range of the foot are very small.
I still have a modded Behringer Hellbabe HB01 wah since 2013. I absolutely love it and for me its the best wah in the world As I can customize the sweep and fully open sound to go from a traditional funky wah, to cry baby, to a morley bad horsey up to newsted's bass wah sound!
Great video, I learnt some new stuff from you. Especially with your videos when you play funk. Tomo Fujita and Cory Wong are great too.I have an EV-1 expression/volume pedal by Fractal Audio. I had the EV-2, just sold it yesterday, don't need two so I decided to keep the larger pedal.
Nice video Jay! I love wah - it's the very first pedal I ever bought and I always have it setup with my effects too. I think it's gone out of favor a bit because of the overuse that was common for a while. Also, I think a lot of people tended to use it the same way which made it kind of boring. You've done a great job of showing some different sounds you can get with it and I think people would like it more if they mess around with it themselves. If anyone is looking for awesome wah examples, check out early Clutch albums! Tim Sult has some of the best wah technique in my opinion. For what it's worth, I've called you the Chet Atkins of Funk before but I'm going to reiterate that title for you now. I love the awesome right hand strumming you have going on as well as all the cool left hand muting technique. It's sick man!
Whack attack, I have always used a wah, I still have my first one that I bought used back in high school. A Thomas Organ Cry Baby for $20.00 😁 , but I've been using a Bad Horsie.
I'm currently looking at this pedal for purchase. Do I need a wah pedal as I already have the Mutron Micro-Tron 4 effect pedal which is fantastic at wah wah?
MJM has a wonderful throaty sound that is really fun to play with, but you do get more versatility with the JAM. You really can't go wrong with either!
Huge debate material over there, haha! For me personally, I like to start with wah. If I am using a tone bender or a fuzz face, I might put that before the vibe. However, I kinda like big muffs and overdrive/distortion pedals after a vibe :)
@@JayLeonardJ I found that the Morley Bad Horsie 20/20 (buffered) didn't play well with my Fulltone '69 Mk1, regardless of whether it was before or after. The Wahcko just works. I love it!
9:49 Pardon my ignorance, but can anyone tell me if this trick can be done with any wah pedal? Thanks in advance. I've never owned a wah pedal, but I'm planning to buy one soon. BTW, awesome video and amazing playing, Jay!
@@RuGuan Thanks, my friend. Theoretically, it should work on any wah as all of them have input and output jacks. Did you enjoy your noisy jam with your golden wah? :)
@@youreallygotmenow4855 I thought there should some difference on the golden one but I realized the only diff is color... So yeah it is fun but I would say buy the Dunlop standard one to save money
@@RuGuan Thanks, but I haven't decided which brand to buy yet. I was thinking more Vox than Dunlop, to be honest. I want my wah to be vintage-sounding.
No, most higher end wah pedals, or ones with additional switching options, typically don't do the effect. The cheapest Dunlop Crybaby wah will do this. I keep one in the studio for this purpose. It will only work if the signal chain is guitar plugged into the wah output, and the wah input plugged directly into the amp. Anything else in or out of the signal chain defeats the effect. Basically its the microphonic properties of certain inductors and pots in the wah, interacting with the electronics of the guitar. What Jay doesn't really show, is that manipulating the tone/vol/pickup selector on the guitar will alter the pitch, and creating different oscillating effects.
This is a really good wah video.
Really great playing!!
Also your enthusiasm, positive energy and style make your videos amazing.
Thank you Jay
Funkier than Earth Wind And Fire's tour bus laundry hamper. 👍
Your look at the end is the best! Keep doing what you're doing! Love it!

Excellent presentation on all levels!
Thank you!

No right hand was harmed in making this video...great job J!!

What an awsome player. Great lesson.

Tomo was my old guitar teacher... Monster player :)
@@JayLeonardJ Really? Yeah he is a really great guitarist, you are too. I'm learning a lot from his and your videos.
That is super cool Jay, you are super funky as always ❤
That pedal is so pretty! And yes I need a wah right away
Charles Skip Pitts was the guitarist on the Theme from Shaft look him up
That strumming pattern @0:20 is insane!
Those DJ scratching type vibes are on point 👌🏽👌🏽
I said "whaaaa......!???"
JLJ, rockin' the wah. Excellent as always. And, you've been busy lately - take 5 for yourself, bud.
Best Wah demo ever! Rock On my friend 😉
I really appreciate it!
Amazing!!
That pedal is too pretty to play id be afraid of ruining it hahaha but it looks so good. great playing man as always

JLJ. You need to hook up with Corey Wong and Vulvpeck. You two would be a perfect match to jam
Badass 🔥👍🔥
Thanks!
The sounds good! How do you compare it to MJM wah?
MJM has a wonderful throaty sound that is really fun to play with, but you do get more versatility with the JAM. You really can't go wrong with either!
Been waiting for this ever since the united nations livestream haha! Definitely not disappointed!
Oh and I would love to be there to watch....not kidding....lol
thanks J
how is it compered to Fulltone Clyde Deluxe?
Can't find any Comparison between the two
Surprisingly, I've never tried the Clyde Deluxe either, sorry!
What order you recommend with the wah, vibe, and fuzz
By the way thanks for the lesson super cool

Ripping hot!
So... Wah before or after fuzz? Given that the Wahcko is true bypass, I guess either can be done but what's your preference?
I usually put mine before :)

The floor is youtube copyright strikes and Jay's licks just dance around them haha. amazing
Cant decide between the jam pedals wahcko and xotic wah? Wich is best? Have you tried both?
This guy is great :D

Listen to 1997 Phish, smooth wah work.
What are J mod pick ups?
They are my signature set of pickups! You can special order them at www.tonespecific.com
You should try getting a shoe endorsement since your feet are in the videos.
You might be on to something, haha!
That’s a cool wah pedal but it’s a big No on the noise generator. Sounds more like a bug than a feature.
Dear god...the chops
Let's all tag Ms. Adele here and show her how awesome the Wah is that she might consider it for her next album. @RickBeato
hahaha
I felt like I should of had a silk robe and lotions out watching this video...😂
That’s some mighty fine playing sir.
Forrest Gump of guitar
Looks like we got a couple 'Wah Wahs" disliking Jay's stellar vid
You heard it from Jay lads, you don't always have to do it really fast....
👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
