That came out great. Love your approach. I also like working with Palm wood, Mexican palms are plentiful around here (Burbank, CA) I dig leaving the bark alone on certain areas. I've only done 3-4 large Tikis as a Covid boredom project, but I had all the tools and dug in. Yes! Very addicting. Keep up with the videos.. You rock.
I wish I remembered what rabbit hole I followed to end up here... Im looking at this as I'm contemplating "hmm, *ONE* more hobby never hurt nobody.....I'll just 'half start' a new project intermittently between working on my massive Macrama and learning to sew. Glad I found you, sir!
Love the project. Design, texture, talent. I've been reading with other tiki makers, they sometimes use half log, because the fear of cracking. Maybe it's the wood they use. Think the palm wood log is prone to cracking?
Mahalo, Man. I think it's not that you're just cutting up wood, but rather you're following the Mana so that Tiki* can come out. [*Tiki is Maori for First Man. Hawaiians, Tahitians, Rapa Nui are all distant Maori.]
