17:55 A scene straight out of Miami Vice. We just needed you guys shooting prop guns at the seaplane during take off.
Okay now that sea plane footage was insane!
Love how he takes off and says wow all I hear is the water but ignores the loud whine of the motor🤣
I was thinking the same thing. It actually doesn't seem to be much quieter then a newer 4 Stroke.
Sports action video cameras (Go Pro et. al.) pick up on all of the vibrations as noise, it is that way for EV motorbikes. As a rider you wouldn't be bothered by it, but if another of that vehicle approaches you might get good at identifying it even if it is not very noticeable. The vibration you as a driver/rider feel you'll recognize when you hear it roll up from a distance, if that makes sense, even if you don't hear it from your position on the vehicle. Typical EV stuff... it's pretty wild going to EV track days and being able to pick out where certain cars are on the track by the tire noise and inverter whine.
That looks like a hell of a good time with it being so quiet! Finally can talk to friends while riding!
Great vid, I have been flowing this Orca for a bit. Happy to see you review it!
As long as it doesn't go underwater, the carbon fiber might be ok.
Too soon LOL but I had the same thought
Hah. In reality, carbon fibre is an amazing material, just not great for that specific Titan submarine purpose. It's amazing when used correctly! I fly planes that use a ton of carbon fibre in their design.
@Steve-tf1wv indeed - there's nothing wrong with carbon fiber when used properly. I can cut myself with a knife and call it stupid, but everyone knows I'm the real fool for not using it properly.
MTI make some of the best catamarans 39X 44x they do well over 130 miles an hour all carbon fiber! And that's with two Mercury 500 to 450s outboards.
You realize that there are batteries in every water craft in the world. Ignorant comment.
I love the drag with the plane 😂
will always love gas powered machines over electric especially with jet skis i find joy working on them and hearing the engine
These EV Ski’s seen to be best suited for a large yacht as a water toy. Short range.I ski all day and this would never work for me.Great video and review!
Perfect tender for boats with lots of solar, but if you're land base, i would imagine the gas ones are easier to live with.
For now. Awesome to see this nascent technology finally get some practicality, if not perfect. It will only get better, and Sea-Doo will be announcing electric lineups soon, too. Exciting stuff! :D
If you use it every week, sure. If it's a toy you buy thinking you will use it all the time, and then don't (most people), the lack of required maintenance I am sure is better with this thing. Also, depending on where you are, your neighbours will appreciate it, and often times, that is a quality of life issue :)
All yachts have generators at the least. Ideal for a zip around the boat or a trip to shore.
@@TheRealMafoo It has a 28 mile range if operated on the lowest setting the entire time. At the fastest setting it runs out of charge in 25 mins. Could you imagine going through all the effort of towing this thing to the lake, paying to launch it and then 40 mins later be like.. Well guys, that was fun. I gotta go. You guys enjoy the rest of your day I'm going home to charge this thing for 14 hours. hahaha Or better yet you live on the lake and now you get run a level 2 220v charging cable to your Jetski floating on an easy dock. Sounds super safe!
@@MWMWMWMWMWMWMWMWWWMMMWMWMWMMWM Exactly. EV's are still way out to overtake ICE. Plus there is still too much controversy if there is enough resources to make batteries. Then there is the disposal............
However yes it is a cool toy.
Love all the machines man
Spectacular
I love the product but here in Canada it's 40k after taxes (roughly $40800) and that's without a trailer or any extras. That's pretty insane for a PWC. I was looking into one (I had a deposit on the snowmobile), but I can get two higher performance machines and a trailer for that price. I'll circle back in time when they're closer to the rest of the industry pricing. I love the quietness, and I'm looking forward to an electric quad in the future as well.
In time!
At 65mph, I don't hear the engine over the wind pressure, so not sure it matters. Engine noise is well muffled anyway.
The non carbon model is cheaper but still more than an equivalent gas model. That said, the cost of fuel and maintenance adds up pretty quickly.
I wouldn’t spend that kind of money, for something that only lasts for an hour and a half, hopefully they get better with the range.
whats a snowmobile? nuff said !
Great review! Screen could be better to see in the bright sun. Love the quietness of the PWC. Would say it needs to be AS GOOD AS OR BETTER THAN THE SEA DOO in ALL ASPECTS including: reliability, ease of use, "refueling", costs, transportation, service center availability, etc. It's a GOOD IDEA and a GOOD START but... you know to slow and too expensive and too long to charge and doesn't go a full day's worth of fun under the sun😜
Great to see Electrics on the water!. Drawing first blood, they have a good thing going. Obviously power and speed will be an easy software update. Taking notes from RC electric boats, there's a lot of work that needs to go into the impeller design. hopefully they continue development and can compete with the big boys in the future!
Does it have a brush-less motor and Li-Po batteries? Like a Traxxas whatever? JK. But jokes aside, it should make service much easier if like R/C components, motor, speed control, battery, (2spd transmission would be cool).
Not really true on the software update. A controller can only pull so much current before popping, and a battery can only deload so quickly without losing the ability to hold a charge.
I know right. I mean tbise batteries do so well if or when salt water hits them. Should be a good show.
That looks awesome, super quick in the waters.
Cool video and great shots with the plane! Love the Sea-Doo!👍
Great video Brooks. I really like seeing your content with non standard vehicles. Could you test the Model 3 Performance again? There have been a lot of advances in optimizing the battery since you had one. Mine is running 11.1s @ 120 mph now and someone else finally got a Model 3 to do a sub 3.00 0-60 mph without subtracting rollout.
that's much faster than my old M3P was, I'll have to get hold of a newer one to test... thanks!
@@DragTimesit really depends more on monitoring battery and motor temperatures more than anything. That and weight reductions. Even old ones can be faster now if the temperatures are optimized.
They are nice but if you leave them at a marina you need to make sure charging is available
@@DragTimesyou should also try to keep an eye on « project Highland ».
It may appeal to other users, but it's interesting. Even if you consider the service effort, the electric version can definitely be more pleasant
Robots have to stick with their own 😂
until it catches fire, salt water good luck with that one
@@tb7977 Fortunately, these burn far less often than the conventional ones
@@Zedus-rl9hpmaybe because there’s millions of gas powered PWCs and almost none that are electric? Ever hear of statistics?
@@AustinTA-cd9rsthat’s why statistics are always per 1000 or per 100 so the total number dosent matter. You talk about statistics but don’t understand them.
awesome video, the comparison is very helpful to make a decision. You mentioned towing, is there a tow eye on the Orca?
Nice vid!
Loved the "Tesla Orca" Freudian Slip on the Dragy clip 😂😂👍
That was amazing when u guys were running next to that plane taking off that was pretty cool 😎
I can't believe that the sea-doo was keeping up with that plane even after takeoff!!!
The electric sea-doo looked kinda slow compared to the gas powered one...
As soon as the cost comes down on the electric jet skis and battery tech improves (as it inevitably will, in each case - like eBikes), I’m in!
Fantastic!
Interesting how the power difference doesn't translate to jet, on land even half the power is not like it has half the power, but on water you see it. Also, didn't beat the seadoo on acceleration either and you would think the extra TQ would.. but i guess jet pumps slip anyway...
Another interesting thing is the sound the pump makes lol to me it still sounds like a pwc!
Now that's what Im talking about thing like this most definitely I would get in electric. 👍🏾
Lol this video might be the death of the electric wave runner
Interesting - heard about this but first time seeing this in action. Coming from a first time ski owner (VX Cruiser) I'd love to see 2 things improve:
1 - Range. I'm usually putting 35-45 miles on. 30 would get me nervous and would constantly be in the back of my mind.
2 - More storage. Looks like I'd be forcing my dry bag in the compartment and the glove box isn't enough for all my usuals (phone, water, binoculars, sunglasses, etc.
Know it's there first generation so super excited to see them. improve in next 3-5 years!
3 - What Marina or restaurant on the water would you recommend to get the electricity charge? How long would that re-charge take? How much $$ ? REC90 is $6-7/gl at waterfront marinas near me and accessible everywhere.
They sell a portable diesel generator that comes with it. So every 30 minutes you can recharge quickly. 80% in 4 to 5 hours . Kinda-like a highbred
@@bradforester3635needs a swop out battery.
& how long until the battery life goes down? & the rage goes down 5-10 miles, then half, ext.
What you say casually at 3:15 seems like such a challenge for everyone else making videos about battery electric powertrain vehicles... others going out of their way to tease it out and wrongly over-simplify the units involved "kilowatt battery tank of fuel" trying to appeal to an audience that does not exist. It's kilowatt-hours, you said it! Great review 🙂
Great vid mate 👏🏼
In the 60s I passed a similar seaplane in a Sidcraft hydroplane with a KG 4 Mercury (20 cubic inch). Not a lot of progress.
I love how the majority of car channels have water content. We all can appreciate sports craft of any type.
The baseball cap was insane!
What was the power output at 50% charge?
Someone should make a trailer that can charge it on site. It charges while you pull it.
ahhh, yess....
Excellent idea. If the battery size is no larger than say a suit case, they could also be made swappable. Could be back on the water in less time than it takes to refill a gastank.
Nice video thank you,
This is perfect for quiet vacation spots marinas.
You mean perfect for rich people?
@@fiddynutz68 or the ones that work for them, Rich are generous to their close people, and most of the time aren't there.
Didn't know there were electric jet skis.
If tesla made it, it would gap the sea dung. ⚡️🇺🇲
@larryc1616 no it wouldn't water isn't the same as land the extra hp you need to run a ski as fast would require way more battery and there just isn't space. The marine industry is really showing how shitty EV actually is.
2hr range…wonder if that is at full throttle 😅 I’ll stick with my gas powered sea-doo’s, these would be good for one of those tourist rental companies that only let you ride within a boundary.
I’ve noticed with the taiga that it doesn’t get maximum speed when the battery has not been used (or charged) for a while. Seems to need to be warmed up a bit to get maximum, a bit like the Tesla drag strip prep. Norma driving does the warmup pretty well. Obviously having a full battery would have helped in the drag race but I’m guessing the seadoo would still have won. I haven’t been able to get my Taiga up to the advertised 60mph so far. Not sure why.
Are you able to pull skiers or tubes for small kids behind the orca?
I wish the range was better for 26k. You only get a little more than a hour of play time. Thanks for the video!
Tesla of the sea!!! I have been following the taiga since first test. What a sick idea if u live on water
Charging seems like it would be an issue. You can do a quick splash and go on a regular wave runner and be up and running again. It’s probably fine for lake houses that charges while it’s docked.
Great for a yacht with a generator.
My 1999 Yamaha GP 800 topped out at 70mph with just reeds and impeller changed. This thing wasn't breaking 50mph or what am I missing?
Teslas can tow PWCs? It made a weird sound at the ramp.
I think all these people who don’t like it just don’t want the $20,000 worth of jet skis they have in their garage to become obsolete!
These start at 20 a piece. You can get the best jetski from any of the manufacturers for that price
🤗THANKS DRAG TIMES,FOR SHARING THIS BEAUTIFUL MACHINE AND PROBABLY THE FUTURE TO COME 😎👍💚💚💚
Ugh no thanks, so dishonest to not share how big of a pile of shit this is for $40k. Thank God I live in a state that will never force these upon its citizens.
Curious what camera you use quality is phenomenal.
Did he say it loses power as you empty out the battery?
1.5 hrs just isn't enough run time for me. I need at least 3-4hrs and I'd be interested in one. Depending on how much that battery costs to replace. How much does the battery cost?
Nice ski. Lake June is beautiful we love it there.
This thing is amazing!! I need to buy couple of those. I wish the range will be like 40-45 miles to go in longer trips but I’m sure it’s coming within 3 years
3 years is not very long, this does seem like a pretty refined product already. You could get such range but then it would need to be a hydrofoil craft more so than a blunt jetski. Perhaps more van be done making a conventionally powered one more silent? Compare a Superbike to a Rolls.
It lasted 90 mins 😂
It’s not what I want to hear 🤣
you dont have to wait if you have money
T3MP3ST Maverick GT
Range75-150 miles
Runtime 3-5 hours
Top Speed 70 mph
no doubt yamaha and seadoo will come with something usefull latest 2025
the real question will they ever be usefull for jumping waves with the weight (and can the batteries handle it)
or else many wont replace them
i would imagine this going right through some waves a lighter machine might go over.
and going over is more fun then under
so far i have not seen these machines tested in ruff conditions, people are allways right next to the beach in calm weather
i also know how far a saedoo goes in frost, how far does the orca go
I love the E-PWC
Big up for those buying this new tech. Might not suit everyone, but this is likely the future, so they will only get better and better.
Is this the most powerful one?
It's awesome but what if it's low batt out on the water. If it was double the battery life it would be really amazing
are they super heavy like most of the E.V.? I bet it is even heavier than a regular jetski
Thats awesome. I didn't think you could run that without water running through the engine.
Perfect for silent areas like eg lakes. How to buy it?
just wondering if the orca is quiet?
Wonder how long till that turns into a Tesla charger… 😅
Is 30 miles average Daily usage for a jet ski ?
Nice shoot with the Plane...
Cornelius Would Be Proud.🙌🏻
Top speed? Is it light ? Fun?
What is the runtime compared to a comparable seadoo?
Nice! Love my Jetski!
Good review
13:11 Thought Tesla came out with a new car Tesla Orca lol
The loud noise and the gas fumes is the best part 😭😭😭
I just really want to know it will change my whole perspective… do you have to winterize these newer electric jet skis????
no you don't need to winterize them
No oil
No maintenance
Long term investment 👌
Excellent video! I have been following Taiga and was looking forward to an objective review. And here it is! Thank you.
Hey Brooks... The battery was empty, just like how you like your gas tanks during a race. But instead of it being faster... It yawned
When your camping how are you charging.
This will be the future of fishing jet skis
Nice set up I like the design and the green color. But the price is just crazy and the battery doesn’t last as long as I expect for an almost 30k vehicle .
That SEADOO was sayin, Seeyou! 👋🏾
Is there a fishing version available ?
I heard it very good and I see it jumping all around.. reverse?? 😊
FANTASTICO. LO QUIERO
So if you flip is it like dropping a hairdryer in the bath tub?
No, I’m sure these are designed to be safe within reasonable parameters. Seadoo wants to make $ after-all.
But, if you are drunk and/or just being stupid & hit a piling at high speed & breech battery compartment then all bets are off.
Great video! For $20K I think they are some kinks to work out. Starting with the buggy charging.
Does this lake not have a speed limit? One of our largest lakes locally is 40mph and DNR/Sherriff's are heavy out there
40! That's no fun...
Suns out guns out 😂 💪 i see you
Sounds very interesting, I'm living in Shenzhen and near by sea, probably l can get one
I can definitely see the Special Forces being interested in this.
Its not there yet. Only 1 1/2 hour run time then you need to charge. If you go out camping or my skies are being used all day by family and friends. So you would need infrastructure at the marine docks to support this type of vehicles. They would also need quick charge capability in order to get back on the water fast. The only way I could see this working is if there were electric boats being sold so you know there were be plenty of charging points on the lakes. Cool idea and cant wait to see this in the future!
Is your hat glued on?
did you call the hull, a hub?
3:01 I hope that's sealed air tight so that absolutely no water comes in :-D
Not every lake is huge up here in Canada so I could see this as a great alternative. Rip for a couple hours before lunch and charge while you eat and then back at her. I’m an electrician so I would have a dock charger quick fast.
If you rip this thing the battery will be dead in 45 minutes or less, then it's a couple hour charge, that's a pretty long lunch... Imagine family and friends up at the cottage taking turns on it and then having to wait for it to charge, that would get old fast. Summer is short in Canada.
If you go out with full battery and you go bashing full send how long do you have in till like 5 % left so how long of full bashing do you get ???????
40 min or so...
An hour and a half of usage is simply not enough. Most people who go out on lakes travel an hour or two to get there and spend all day to get there. This would be a huge dealbreaker.
any v2g tech on the ski?
I had a sea doo in 1968 and a new one i prefer gas! Electric you need to have the thing out of water to recharge it, gas you bring your tank!😁
What are the speed ratings.
where is this place? it's a lake? what's name?
@Dragtimes I have the new Seadoo RXTX 325. WOuld you like to do a video with one of your skis?
nice! Seadoo is working on getting me one to test.... are you in south FL?
The only benefit I see with these would be no winterization or oil and plug changes. No fogging motor every year.
With a large pickup truck you could charge the ski another time over a long lunch or so. Battery to load makes a lot of sense then. Shame they could not get the charging to actually reliably work. Seems like a capable fun toy, but a lot of dough for such unless you are used to collecting supercars? For batteries, this is a tough application in a way, but due to it being so tiresome, shorter range kind of works out. But you need to be able to rely on the charger. Turtle mode near the end makes sense, especially without that cruise control it probably should have.
Not a chance. Do you know how electricity works? Lol.
@@user-dw4cv3xq5u as a matter of fact, I do. Your username seems off, ate you OK? Which part of my post did you not understand?
