Oh, geez. I've got four containers of cocoa in the cupboard, a whole bottle of coconut oil, and a few bags of powdered sugar. This can't end well...or can it?! Muahahahaha!
lol awesome, Scott! It is so incredibly easy to try out, make a small batch of chocolate first and see how you like it. Then have fun playing around with different sweeteners if you like. One of the easiest recipes to experiment with.
Great video, Matt. I tried substituting 1:1 mixtures with using pure extra virgin olive oil and eryhritrol monk fruit sweetener instead of powder sugar. 100 % pure dark cocoa powder. Turned out calorie free and healthy dark chocolate candy.
God bless you, Matt! For making these challenging times a little brighter for us. I use to take so many things for granted. Being able to make treats at home really helps, like chocolate! Things aren’t always available to buy. Thank you.
I love it so much I use butter instead of coconut oil because I’m allergic and a little more powdered sugar to give it more sweetness and it came out amazing thank you so much
Healthy, high percentage cocoa chocolate bars are so expensive. I wanted to figure out if there was a way I could just use my Hershey's cocoa to make something similar. The one I had on hand was the dark chocolate version. I wanted something that tasted good but it didn't have to be a candy bar. Based on your video and a couple of others that I watched, but I like yours best, I put two spoons full of cocoa in a coffee cup, added two spoonfuls of powdered sugar and stirred it real good. Then I added in about two spoonfuls of MCT oil And stirred it together really well. It tastes wonderful. I'm going to cut up a banana and add it in and have chocolate-covered banana for dessert!
I added chopped hazelnuts to mine and used avocado oil (neutral flavor kind) instead of coconut oil (too high in saturated fat) as well as substituting erythritol for sugar to make it healthier and it tasted amazing! Thank you for your base recipe! 🙂

It won't taste very good without adding powdered sugar. Regular sugar is too granulated. Try it first the real way before trying to cook it. You can try making a mold out of aluminum foil. You will probably want to spray the foil or use oil on it to keep it from sticking. Yes you can use nuts. You can use milk powder for milk chocolate. Mine was 3.5 cm and the honey sink to the bottom and it leaves with uneven sweetness height wise. (Yes I ate them by scooping with spoon because I used a small container instead of a mold)
Thanks! No sorry butter won't work. You can try Ghee though which is made from butter. Butter itself has too much moisture in it. Thank you so much Matt! I've been wanting a simple dark chocolate recipe that uses coconut oil instead of cocoa butter. If I use maple syrup will I need to change the proportions because it's liquid instead of powder?
I don't advise using a liquid flavoring, they have too much water in it which you don't want in chocolate, but you can experiment with it if you want. Try the same amount.

Thank you for showing us this recipe. Most of my holiday baking consists of dipping fruit, cookies and other treats in melted chocolate to coat it but if I do it like this I wouldn’t have to worry about accidentally burning the melting chocolate while I dip it.
Matt can these be used for baking, Eg choc chip cookies, as choc filling in buns/bread, etc? From a baking perspective, (for homemade chocolate) is there a difference between semisweet baking chocolate vs semisweet chocolate chips, and what type of baking each can be used in?
Hi Judith, these melt much easier than regular chocolate made with cacao butter. I know I'm late, but i barely have the required ingredients, will normal sugar work? Also, will Swiss Miss Hot Cocoa Powder (Unsweetened) work as well? And one more thing, will vegetable or canola oil work? And if not, will melted butter work? Sorry for all the questions, I don't have the ingredients you mentioned.
Hello, normal sugar will make it very gritty. No Swiss Miss hot cocoa will not work. Vegetable or Canola oil will not work either. Melted butter will not work either. But feel free to experiment with all of those things and try it for yourself. That is the best way to learn.

@@inthekitchenwithmatt Thanks so much! Turns out I will have to take a trip to the grocery store after all, haha. Sorry if my question seemed ignorant, I'm a baking beginner and the only thing I ever made was probably scrambled eggs 😂
@@darkeslariate8225 No worries!! Happy to help!
Is it really chocolate taste? Sorry for my question sir, just curious 😅thank u
Yes it has a chocolate taste. :)
Simplest chocolate recipe ever!!
Indeed!
what can i use as a replacement of coconut oil
Cocoa butter, which is actually used to make real chocolate.
@@inthekitchenwithmatt Can I use regular butter? or Margarine
@@fictionaddiction4706 You can always give it a try, but it may not work that well. Actual chocolate doesn't have butter in it. It has cacao butter which is different. But this recipe is so easy to experiment with. My guess is it won't turn out as well.
I also tried it and it tasted very good
Glad you gave it a try and liked it! :)
Oh my God Matt,I made this with honey and it is absolutely delicious...Thank you so much for this....
Awesome, Peter!!! :) You are welcome!
Is this dark chocolate or milky ? Also can I use
Powdered allullose instead of powdered sugar ? Thanks
It is dark chocolate there is not milk at all in it.
Thanks i used it for a bomb cheesecake decoration 💯
You are very welcome! :)
Very nice recipe. I wanna make sugarfree chocolate for my mom as she's diabetic. What will be the stevia ratio to the sugar? Or how much gram stevia I can substitute with the sugar? Thank you.
Thanks! You will have to experiment. Start with the same amount of stevia. Also you will have a better result if you use cocoa butter instead of coconut oil, it won't melt as fast at room temperature. But as long as you store it in the fridge it will be okay like this. It just melts pretty fast.
@@inthekitchenwithmatt thank you.
Welcome!@@charuscharm
Good morning from Australia
Good morning! Thanks for watching in Australia!
Hey matt i tried this recipie once but that time it had a taste of coconut oil so how can i get rid of it or can i. Use sunflower oil????? Pls rplyy!!!!!!!!!
Hello Ann, did you use refined coconut oil or unrefined? Make sure you are using refined. No, other oils don't work very well, but you can always try it, it is a super easy recipe to experiment with. The very best thing to use is cacao butter, since that is what is really in chocolate.
A beautiful day, bless you Matt and thank you :)
Thank you!! Bless you too. You are welcome. :)
can u use vegatable oil
No sorry, vegetable oil won't work very well.
Mashaallah ❤️❤️❤️ lovely 😋😋😋
Thank you!
So I could make peppermint patties, by dipping the filling into the chocolate before I freeze it!
Right?
Yeah, that should work.
I was just wondering if there is any substitutes for the coconut oil
Yes, cacao butter/cocoa butter which is what is used in real chocolate. But other then that, no, only those two seem to work.
@@inthekitchenwithmatt Hey matt, What about normal table butter. Will that work ? Also can we add honey instead of sugar ?
@@malipedduharish Hello normal butter won't work very well, it doesn't harden as well like coconut oil or of course cacao butter which is the actual ingredient in real chocolate. You can try honey, but again, it doesn't harden very well. There are so few ingredients, you can easily expirement.
I have tried it ,and i shared those with my friends Also in school❤
Awesome!!
Now I can have Chocolate anytime at home with knowing that it's healthy 😋...
I can even show off that I can cook something nice 😂
Anyway thanks Matt for sharing this easy and awesome recipe ❤
You are welcome!
I’m going to make some. My coconut oil will probably have a more greenish color though.😊
Great! Make sure you are using refined coconut oil. :)
AAAAA TYSMMMM ILYYY
You are welcome!
Thank you for the video. Can I make a unique flavor by adding an orange essence or something?
You are welcome! Yes you can add flavorings like that. :)
