    What one admires the most about military officers is they all are absolutely the most clear-headed, concise and articulate communicators. They are trained to listen with rapt attention and then respond so precisely - not a word or thought wasted.

    Like smashing an F-16CJ, F-15E, F/A-18, and F-22A together for less cost and more capabilities. Interesting how he pointed out the issues with switching over JHMCS and NVGs in the F-16, that you never need to do in the F-35 because FLIR, DAS, and Helmet Cueing are all fused with the F-35's HMS.

    Haters would have P-51's defending our nation. Why advance when the Mustang worked so well? Then they will suddenly love the F-35 when it's replacement starts testing. See the pattern?

      What are "haters"? Why would anyone reasonable hate F35? We would not be here if we all didn't love aviation.. it's just a matter of facts...if F35 prove itself as F15 or F16 why hate? But it's yet to be seen..Sure, Russians have amazing jets but they have problems too, and no cash as US.. I love a good jet, don't we all?

      @Bellthorian 7 лет назад +3

      GuMpAkC...You know what really bothers me about people who cry about the defense budget? It is when you look at percentage of GDP spent on defense the United States is in the middle of the pack. Countries like China spend far more money as a percentage of GDP on defense than we do. It explains why China has a massive military that dwarfs our own.
      Also you could scrap the ENTIRE federal budget and give ALL the money to the poor. In the end you would still have poor people. Since the 1960's the Government has spent 13 TRILLION dollars in the "War" on poverty with ZERO measurable results. That makes me think of the definition of insanity. Doing the same thing over and over and expect different results.

      psycho -- over 300 F35s now. And they're still dominating their engagements. The biggest complaint about 4th gen fighters going against the F35 "we never located the F35 before it killed us". By end of 2018 - 400 F35s. By end of 2020 should be 600 F35s, all F35s at or below 100$ mil/ea with F35a at $80mil. RUS propaganda couldn't kill the program though they desperately tried, even with leftists media on their side. More countries begging to buy the F35 including UAE. How many lined up for SU57? That's right, none.

    I don't think ppl understand how jammers work. It announces your presence like a giant air horn....all it does is keep radars from detecting your range while at the same time announcing to every enemy radar that you are coming. A jammer is essentially like having thousands of ppl screaming together in a room to cover up for 1 person's voice.
    On the other hand stealth technology drastically lowers radar detection ranges and allows a pilot to fly far deeper into high threat areas w/o being detected. Big difference.
    It's true that LOW FREQUENCY radars can detect stealth aircraft more easily. But due to the physics of how low frequency radars work they are massive, not easily portable, and easily fooled. The radar dish has to be very large. 2 story building large and also extremely easy to locate via satellite and have a cruise missile take it out from the navy. Low frequency radars also are horrible platforms to use to fire SAM's with. By nature they update extremely slowly....and like I said easily fooled.

    • @Pushing_Pixels
      @Pushing_Pixels 6 лет назад

      When did the US last attack a high threat country? A long time ago. There was some air-to-air combat in Iraq 1.0, but it was pretty one sided. The allies had both the technological AND the numerical advantage.

    • @slavicco8368
      @slavicco8368 Год назад

      Vietnam, in fact your statement, "9g manoeuvrability is amazing but when will that be necessary?" was exactly what was going through the minds of the Aviation community in the United States and what lead to the design of the F-4 Phantom, more specifically it's lack of guns as it was deemed "unnecessary as all engagements will take place at long range". Well the US very quickly found out that manoeuvrability and a gun is very important on an aircraft when the Aim-7 missile was found to be unreliable and often lead to the engagement of enemy aircraft at close range, in which the F-4 struggled due to it's lack of gun and inferior manoeuvrability. (The F-4 later received a gun and a gun pod.)

      Engineers can’t complete the Joint Simulation Environment facility. Taxpayers are paying a premium for the F-35 to be capable of defeating any adversary’s defense and anti-aircraft systems. The only way, short of war, to see if the F-35 can perform as promised is to simulate a modern threat environment. The contractor never delivered a functional simulation facility despite having had 14 years to do so, and the facility is still incomplete six years after the Navy was given the project.
      Program officials continue to struggle against a tide of F-35 design flaws. Nearly every time the engineers solve one problem, a new one is discovered. The F-35 still has 871 unresolved deficiencies, only two fewer than last year. Ten of these are the more serious Category I deficiencies that “may cause death, severe injury, or severe occupational illness; may cause loss or major damage to a weapon system; critically restricts the combat readiness capabilities of the using organization.”
      The F-35 program made some reliability improvements in 2020, but is
      still failing to live up to its maintenance and sortie requirements,
      despite the fact that those expectations were set very low. When
      aircraft are unable to fly often enough for adequate training, it can
      result in diminished pilot skills, increased peacetime accidents, and
      degraded combat effectiveness.
      For years, one of the biggest weaknesses of the F-35 program has been
      the deeply flawed maintenance and spare parts computer network called
      the Autonomic Logistics Information System, known as ALIS.
      Pentagon leaders finally admitted defeat in 2020 and pulled the plug on
      ALIS. It will be replaced with the cloud-based Operational Data
      Integrated Network, but the report warns that program officials are
      repeating many of the same mistakes made with ALIS, which would saddle
      the troops on the maintenance line with another flawed product.

      shoot rockets backwards helps and a lower stall speed, it can bring its nose to bear at sharper angles. plus of course control ohter plane and ship groud to air missles around it, and the dog fighter has to keep eye contact all the time as the plane is invisable, as he says supper manuvable so i thinkm it will be good, 9g will be interesting

    • @LetsKeepThePeace
      @LetsKeepThePeace 7 лет назад +6

      In theory it cant happen. I mean, if the pilot does everything right then there is no dogfighting. The enemy gets killed before the F35 is seen. If it comes to a dogfight (e.g pilot mistake) then the F35 can be shot down with guns or heat-seeking missiles just like any other plane. But as i mentioned, if the pilot in the F35 is skilled then there is no dogfight.

  • @bellator11
    @bellator11 5 лет назад

    The F-35 has excellent post stall characteristics, that much is pretty clear if you watch any of the demos already performed. But in terms of sustained turn rate this is where it will be beaten by most of the legacy fighters. It doesn't matter however since the F-35 should theoretically shoot them all down before they ever get close, and if they get close then it can litterally shoot missiles at an enemy almost directly behind it. So all in all the F-35 is most definitely an upgrade, but don't assign capabilites to it that it does not possess (i.e. super maneuverability), and as it stands in modern aerial combat doesn't even need to possess.

I don't agree that the f-35 is able to defeat the f-16 after merging. I base this opinion on the DOD report about ACM trials where an f35 was pitted against an f16. The exercise was conducted on jan 14th 2015 near edwards afb. That's 8 years ago and they may have been trying to make sure the airframe didn't break. Additionally, search F35 tactical pitch or "dojo drift" to see it turn 180 degrees in about 5-6 seconds, that's not something legacy aircraft do. Combine that with incredible high alpha performance and the ability to recover energy faster than some twin engine fighters like the F18 and even F15 in some cases, you got yourself a hell of a fighter, maybe even a decent dogfighter.

      The current oil deposits only will last until 2050 according to geologists and relevant scientists. Reserves of it, on top of small pockets in Alaska and Texas left, as well as numerous elsewhere will provide maybe another several decades worth of oil. Then L.N.G. and synthetics on top of that.
      How is it a lemon?

    F35 can't turn, can't climb, can't run, only can make rolls but it is stil flying straightforward. Then camera ends. All videos are the same. Show me F35 making 9G 20degrees per second turn in sustain speed like F16. Impossible. And Russian can achieve over 30degrees per second turns. F35 is hopeless.

      I agree. Close Air Support should have its own dedicated platform. Something with two engines for starters. Maybe recessed engines like the YF-23 had to hide its IR sig from the ground, and a bit of armor.
