      @@TheRykerDane hi, how much does it cost to put this flooring on if we give it to a contractor, for a 100 SQ feet bathroom?.thanks in advance.

    • @Trashpanda545
      @Trashpanda545 2 года назад

      @@ReyKondiga depends on the cost of flooring vinyl you want. Easiest way to determine go to Home Depot and price. They come in rolls that aren’t super expensive and the adhesive should only be about 40$ for a room that size. I’m getting ready to do a 200sqft trailer and all supplies cost about 116$ but I’m also. It a professional so don’t forget you are paying for their time and expertise.

    • @GeoffreyMorrison-xh2eo
      @GeoffreyMorrison-xh2eo 4 месяца назад

      Price depends upon thickness and styles. It comes in 12ft. wide rolls. Thus, there is another price listed in linear feet, 12x1 ft.
      The cheapest and often easiest way to go is with remnants--plastic-wrapped, bar-coded rolls--hopefully enough for your project. These are less than 12ft. wide.
      Remnants seem currently missing now--at least at big-boxy, usual-suspect home stores.

    People. knee pads number one. When you lay the piece in make sure it is square and not crooked with the walls! also a little trick don't leave any heavy glue swipes make it all consistent and after you spread the glue give it about 5 min or longer to let the glue "off gas" to minimize the amount of bubbles you get. make sure the floor underneath the vinyl is Smooth as possible and Clean enough to eat off of because if not it will show through the vinyl! Their is no room for error once you cut its done.

    I followed your advice for my 8x27 foot cargo trailer which is being remodeled into a camper for my wife and I. The vinyl we picked turned out to be real soft/thin which posed problems and I got off straight/true enough that I had to cut it off at the fenderwells and realign. I'll use a transition over the cut (it was my wife's idea). If....IF I ever did this again, I'd have help and probably use vinyl tiles, but it was a fun experience. Thanks!

    Jan. 22, 2019---Thanks for the video. I live in a '74 single wide trailer, moving into it around 1984? Since then, there's been 10 cats/kittens who loved digging their claws into the linoleum. Then add one dog who had 9 puppies which liked chewing on the linoleum the cats had worked on earlier. Finally got down to 3 dogs...my original and 2 of her pups. When they passed on, ended up with another dog, something I didn't expect to happen. Ever. So linoleum is a bit tore up in spots and of course, extremely well worn. Since I'm on Social Security, will be replacing everything bit by bit along with new paneling,insulation and sealing windows. I thought doing the linoleum would be hard, but not after seeing your video. Thanks again.

    Thank you for such an informative video! I do have a question. We are looking at installing vinyl flooring in a large room where we will have a seam. We've laid vinyl flooring before, but the seam part is making us a little nervous, and unfortunately, we can't find any manufacturer's recommendations for installation. Do you have any suggestions for the installation of it, in regards to gluing down versus leaving it as a floating floor (going off memory, I think that's what the sales guy suggested, and just not so sure how comfortable we feel about that), and also for the seam? Never done the seaming before.
    Here is the description for the flooring we have:
    Comfort Foam double encapsulated fiberglass structure provides strength and dimensional stability. Modified loose-lay installation option,offers easy-in, easy-out flexibility. 105 gauge with 10 mil wear layer. Super Guard Urethane finish for stain protection and easy cleaning. Recommended full spread with releasable adhesive.

      @@alexanderx3554 plenty of videos on how to glue only edges, if it ripples, undo edge pull right and ripple be gone. Also it is very easy to take up old vinyl flooring if only edges are glued or fastened. I'm not a floor dude but that's how I would approach..... On a larger floor maybe the glue.

      yep, slab homes you need to cut all the loose parts out, mud with a hardrock mud product to create a smooth floor then go over. You will spend tons of time trying to scrap up all the old vinyl. Which you will need to mud the whole area again to make a smooth and even floor anyway.

    Can I lay vinyl over old vinyl? My floor is already very high, I don't want to raised it more with plywood, because the carpet in next room is much lower.

      @TheRykerDane  6 лет назад +1

      the only problem is that you need it to be very smooth when laying. So you might do a skim coat over the existing vinyl to level it out. Adding a 15/32 underlayment won't raise it that much.

    do you have to use adhesive or can you just lay it loose with the edging holding it in place?

    • @TheRykerDane
      @TheRykerDane  10 лет назад +4

      You can do a floating vinyl floor and either staple or glue the edges, but it needs to be a heavy vinyl that will lay down flat and not bubble up. Also, sometimes the vinyl you lay can shrink or contract, and if you trim it too much then it will be short on your walls.

    Thanks for the video, it helped a lot. Suggestion for next time: slow down the panning on the video a bit. It was too fast for the camera to focus and a little hard to watch. But that's minor; appreciate the tips.

    May I ask what kind of glue/adhesive you recommend?

    • @TheRykerDane
      @TheRykerDane  3 года назад

      the the standard glue you get in the flooring section at home depot or lowes

    Does that glue work on cement floors? Also seen double sided tape used instead of glue. Wondering if that adheres to cement.

      not by the foot, a bathroom takes a lot of time, and a large area is fast. you price the job per trip to the job site, bid, shopping, and trash. Charge 300.00 per trip, per man.
