  • In this episode of Cities Skylines 2, we're diving back into Circle City 3, the circular city with roads running in concentric rings. Our city has grown to a quarter million population, and we're looking to push that even further. However, we've hit some snags with unemployment and abandoned buildings, and we need to address these issues to keep our city thriving. Watch as we make crucial decisions to manage the city's budget and optimize its growth.
We start by assessing the current state of Circle City 3. With no demand for anything and a lack of employees in many buildings, we decide to de-zone entire blocks of offices. This strategy aims to clear out abandoned buildings and make room for more functional developments. We also address ongoing garbage pickup issues, which have been exacerbated by recent budget cuts.
One significant change we make is to the city's tile ownership. The upkeep cost of owning too many tiles is draining our budget, so we decide to relock all tiles and only purchase the ones we need. This decision brings our tile upkeep down from 35 million to just 5 million per month, instantly making us profitable. It's a game-changing move that sets the stage for future growth.
As we navigate the city's financial challenges, we notice some buildings have become condemned, leading to an increase in homelessness. We work on strategies to provide new homes for these displaced citizens or delete them from the city if they can't find new housing. It's a delicate balance, but we're committed to ensuring everyone in Circle City 3 has a place to live.
Our focus then shifts to infrastructure. We fix several road issues, including disappearing lanes and unnecessary roundabouts. These changes aim to improve traffic flow and reduce congestion, making Circle City 3 a more efficient and pleasant place to live. We also look into expanding our livestock farms, which can be placed almost anywhere and don't create much pollution.
Despite our efforts, we still face challenges with unemployment and the garbage issue downtown. We adjust the operating districts for our recycling centers to better serve the areas in need. Additionally, we experiment with different road configurations to find the most efficient setups. It's a process of trial and error, but each change brings us closer to a well-functioning city.
Our downtown area continues to evolve, with new high-density residential buildings attracting tourists and adding to the city's skyline. We also deal with noise pollution issues by condemning homes in affected areas. It's all part of our ongoing effort to create a livable, vibrant city.
We encounter some technical challenges along the way, such as the flickering lights at night due to the game's limitations. Despite these minor setbacks, we remain focused on our goals. We also address various zoning issues, ensuring that all areas of the city are used effectively.
As the city's population balances out, we continue to monitor and adjust our strategies. We aim to reduce unemployment by creating more jobs, but we face the challenge of low demand for new businesses. To address this, we lower taxes to encourage commercial and industrial growth.
Throughout the episode, we tackle numerous small but significant issues, from cleaning up abandoned buildings to optimizing our city's layout. Each step brings us closer to creating the perfect circular city in Cities Skylines 2. Our efforts are paying off, but there's always more work to be done.
As we wrap up this episode, we reflect on the progress made and the challenges still ahead. Circle City 3 is a work in progress, but with careful planning and strategic decisions, we're confident it will thrive. Join us next time as we continue to build and refine our circular city in Cities Skylines 2.

Nice recovery. What's it going to take to get some residential demand?
