Monstronomy looks like it's trying to parody those ads for that one game called Evertale. The ads are so famous they have a whole creepypasta series about em. They're also famous for having nothing to do with the game itself lol. Check em out and tell me the ads weren't the inspiration.
I am 100% certain that Monstronmy is using sprites from a monster taming browser game that I played way back in the 2010s. Maybe the sprites have a open license or maybe its the same dev(s) but they are not new.
I personally think games stealing from other IPs and asking for money shouldn't be part of these kinda videos, just since it's very likely they will be nuked and people who put money into it will have nothing to show for it. Fan games for sure, as long as they don't cost anything to play. Other than that, it's a neat lil video. I've already gone and installed the Monstronomy demo, and hoping it is enjoyably edgy, or/and outright dark.
I don't think that game is ready yet. I've seen the trailer and it looks like a generic RPG maker game right now. If a game is made in that engine its fine, but I expect it to be more polished

I think I mentioned in the video that I put the video together BEFORE the game came out. I work full time so I have to make videos in advance. That said, I've seen the steam reviews loll, they're pretty bad
I know the whole "inspired by pokemon" seems to be easy to say, which is annoying. But monstronomy seems to be more inspired by Digimon. It's about monsters from the dark web, the designs look more Digimon-esque, and the tone being dark and mature is basically Digimon and SMT.
Pocket anime? A monster taming game? You are REALLY stretching the definition. I don't see any monsters, and you don't tame anything in the game. It's a crossover rpg, nothing Monster Tamer about it.
From what I understand you catch the anime characters like you would catch a pokemon loll. Also happy, majin buu, inuyasha aren't humans just saying. (well inu is half). I made a disclaimer in the video anyways. Its basically a pokemon game with anime characters instead of pokemon. Its like when people make those dragon ballz pokemon ROM hacks.

That's fair, I think the game will be free to play on launch, but I agree that they shouldn't be charging for it
