SAME! But thankful mine is in a REALLY early stage due to an illness for almost 3 years that left me mostly bed ridden. I'm working on my stamina because I know mine is from inactivity and heredity (both parents had it). I was a dancer for many years and was hard on my legs. I pay close attention to my body signals and could just feel something wasn't right.
Very helpful info I learned from this video. I have been wondering what is happening to my legs for the past years. Thank you very much for this video.
It also helps if you keep your legs elevated higher than your heart since your blood in your legs can’t get back up to your heart by pumping it up, gravity will drain it back, but you have to keep your legs higher than your heart like when you sleep at night or sitting watching TV for hours. My mother had this and when she had a stroke she was in bed for 10 days before she died and I couldn’t believe how much the swelling went down in her legs. You have to wrap your legs with ace bandages in the morning before you get out of bed, because after a few hours of being up, the blood starts to pool down there again. It’s a lifelong condition that you have to live with, wrapping your legs.
I had veinous ulcers just above both ankles. Surgical treatment included arterial stents and angioplasty in the most severe leg. 4 layer compression wraps have been worn for a year, changed every other day. Santyl is applied directly to the wound after cleaning with dakins bleach and the surrounding area by betadyne. I can now report that one leg has entirely healed and the other is now 95% there. I will have to wear compression stockings after the wraps are no longer required. Get a good cardiovascular surgeon and home wound care if you have Medicare. Bad circulation can lead to neuropathy in your feet, or the loss of them.
If you had arterial stents then they were not venous ulcers. There’s a huge difference between arterial ulcers and venous ulcers. Venous ulcers can be cured for good if the underlying cause is treated.
Odd co-incidence, but i met a guy who owns a chain of private clinics in Holland, who is also a Doctor, the day after i read a paper regarding leg ulcer treatment. This happened to me when I was 36 years old and 110 lbs. The doctor's in the hospital told me that it was bad vasculitis from standing and walking on my feet to long. They done a lot of tests on me and told me that i was a borderline diabetic and that I have Lupus and heart problems and high blood pressure. Now that I am older I stay off my feet as much as possible because they still swell and hurt. I have the scars from the ulcers and nerve damage in my foot. I hope that my legs and feet will never get like that again because it was scary and painful. Thank you for explaining it and educating us about it.
@@jesusvilla3583 Yes I did. both of my legs were red and swollen really big. They had fluid coming out of my skin and bleeding ulcers with fever. Burning and itching. My house shoes and socks were wet with blood and fluid. It was so bad in my left leg and foot that the doctor told me that they might have to amputate it but I begged them not to do it. I was in the hospital for 3 weeks and spent two years going to the wound care clinic. They told me to keep a close watch on my legs and feet incase of a relapse. Now when I see someone with swollen legs and feet I tell them to go to their doctor. Because it's not nothing to ignore. I learned the hard way. It is serious.

Hello Miriam, despite being 4 months late this may still be useful, I'm 60 yr.'s old and damaged my right leg at the age of 9. By the age of 30 I started with my first ulcer and since then I've been through this problem 4x. In all of it the worst part is not getting to someone in a timely manner, just long days and nights in a lot of pain...waiting. The required outpatient surgery only takes about an hour. I call to set up an appointment as soon as I'm sure of a problem because I'm trying to 'nip it in the bud' and they know me and are familiar with the problem, yet I can never get in before 2 months has passed even with the help of my PCP. When I get there, they acknowledge that there is in fact a problem, they then admire it look at it with their ultrasound come up with a plan and then send me home for 2 more months. The problem has now been allowed to fester for 4 months, the foot is literally rotting due to insufficiency there's an open hole on the right medial ankle the size of a quarter its nearly a quarter inch deep and a cesspool of infection and I know damn well that if they could get to the underlying cause within a week or maybe 2 it would save me on the whole about 6 months of pain and suffering, an equal amount of lost work and at least a half dozen trips to the wound clinic for debriding plus sort of having to learn to walk again. Unfortunately for me there are few alternatives. If you can, see if there are other surgeons in your area, use your PCP keep your options open. PS The best way to stave this off is to wear your sock every day and stay active...don't become complacent this issue doesn't age well and will crop up when you least expect it. A Dr. once told me 'Let us know if it starts to smell', I hope that's something you never hear.
With conditons like these, traditional therapies such as "cupping" could easily be modernised - particularly if a pressure effect could be modulated to assist bloodflow in time with the heartbrat.
Top notch advice, had femoral popliteal bypass in Nov , and still have swelling and some of the other condensation to date , swelling never reduced , have been readmitted 8 days ago and Intravenously given Prostacyclin Infusion which seems to be helping Achilles ulcer,, I will be asking my Doctor if Alpha Lipoic Acid could be helpful to resolve my issues once another few all ,,, ☘️😎
The body has the ability to heal itself. I recently went to a vascular clinic reccomend by my doctor and the solution was to do invasive surgery which is covered by my government or laser which is not covered for over $3.000.00 perl leg. I don’t believe in invasive surgery. It important to get to the root cause not a bandaid that can create more problems later. In doing my research it seems that the Liver, and dysfunctional hormones can be the root cause, I’ll be doing more research. Has anyone with this problem found successful holistic solutions?
I have 2 bad lower calf's. 1 eventually healed over a yrs very painful time the other hasn't. Nothing has worked. Shots, compression, no compression, aspirin, Ibuprofen, Vaseline, health remedies. Still bleeds out. Been over a year of misery
Thank you, that was well explained. Does Venous Insufficiency also come with a foul odor? What happens if someone refuses to get treatment and has large open wounds?
Thank you. I'm a 46yo m 250lbs I just gained 70lbs rather quickly and I am thinking that this may be the result. I am also on my feet all day. I'm going to lose 70lbs and see if that helps.
It's gotten worse, my ankles are almost black. I also gained 17lbs I'm 267 now. I'm still at the gym but again I don't sit, I don't sleep well either. I need to change all these things and lose the weight. Going to try again.
I was recently diagnosed with venous insufficiency but it's been slowly progressing for at least 5 years or more. I'm wondering if there's a connection to hashimoto's since it causes inflammation. My mother had horrible lymphedema. I'm looking for anything and everything I can do to prevent that same fate. 😢 Thanks for this video! Any suggestions out there I'm open to it all. 🙏
It cannot be cured, but can be fully managed. The video does not mention vein treatment including endovenous laser ablation, phlebectomy, or sclerotherapy done by a vascular surgeon or vein clinic.
I would like more information about the genetic problem as well. My father had varicose veins, and I have recently been diagnosed with the late stages of CVI
in 2022 ive been hospitalized due to this because of a simple wound that i havent treated so the both entire legs has become like a zombie looking state unable to heal, at first the doctors said it was diabetes but in further examinations and study it was really chronic venous insufficiency, as of now i find my legs not the same anymore, now it weakened so easily in long walks and even on runs i might get leg cramps always and visible varicose veins can be seen and painful
I think I have this in my left leg I’m young male who is fit and healthy? My leg is very hot and itchy in the morning mainly and I have dark spots around lower leg
I have same thing. Finally figuring out there's a relationship in gluten, sugar and coffee excess, that triggers this. Once I cut all 3 out for at least 2 weeks, it goes away. But after I slide back into old eating habits, it will flare again.

Within a year, I had spider veins all over my legs and discoloration around my ankles. I guess it could be the protein deficiency or too many carbs. This is gonna be hard, but I’ll try the carnivore diet and see what happens. Thank you for sharing!
Can’t tolerate those stockings, expensive but so tight I can’t stand it! I now wear some more comfortable and bigger size, they work! But I’m on blood thinners and ankle swelling is going down. Can I ask a question and not take it wrong. Are you over weight ?. Reason I ask is I need this procedure done but to get it done there’s a lot of risk so I’m not sure to go through with it or not?? I weigh 260 and the doctor said she can do the surgery but i have to be sure I’m not gonna gain anymore weight. Which know when already a bigger girl goes and says..Hey I need to gain more pounds!! I have A autoimmune disease so my medication makes me go and down so in size. So what’s a girl to do??
I've been suffering from this since early 20's (first noticed small, inexplicable pale spots on calves) after developing the bad habit of falling asleep sitting up on a recliner or couch (also bad habit of sleeping with the telly on, which disrupts sleep btw). Eventually it worsened with edema & cardiovas. disease. Most recently I suspect I have COPD, kidney disease w/ rheumatic heart disease due to ignorance & not following the full doseage of antibiotics that first time I got strep throat infection at 17; Now I'm susceptible to tonsillitis if I fail to thoroughly dry myself after a bath 💀 ALWAYS TAKE THE FULL ANTIBIOTICS DOSEAGE WHEN A DR. INSTRUCTS YOU TO, ESPECIALLY A STREP INFECTION ; Stop being ignorant & arrogant to medicine; TAKE YOUR HEALTH MORE SERIOUS AS YOU AGE.

Any idea what this may be? Doesnt hurt but now notice it all the time? Ty!

You need to fix your livers also. Tudca, and nac or nacet
Very good presentation.. see from India
Venixxa. Sclerotherapy. Compression socks by prescription. Frequent exercise. Occasionally put feet up.
Carnivore diet is working for me
Can your veins fully heal tho
I have 2 bad lower calf's. 1 eventually healed over a yrs very painful time the other hasn't. Nothing has worked. Shots, compression, no compression, aspirin, Ibuprofen, Vaseline, health remedies. Still bleeds out. Been over a year of misery
Clear presentation :)
Many thanks for the helpful information you've provided.
Thank you, that was well explained. Does Venous Insufficiency also come with a foul odor? What happens if someone refuses to get treatment and has large open wounds?
They NEED to go ASAP ..Any foul odor means infection.. Antibiotics are needed. PLEASE GO!
@@janicejacome I agree they need to go but as an adult I can't make them. Sad situation.
@@janicejacomerubbish, not true.
@@janicejacomethe vein procedures are highly risky. Permanent nerve damage. Damage to lymph nodes resulting in permanent lymphedema
@@1961-v9kcan u get damage to lymph nodes resulting in permanent lymphedema. From vein procedures?
Thank you. I'm a 46yo m 250lbs I just gained 70lbs rather quickly and I am thinking that this may be the result. I am also on my feet all day. I'm going to lose 70lbs and see if that helps.
@@mabelincedillos5794 well if one wants to lose weight suger is the first to go haha
How are you doing ?
It's gotten worse, my ankles are almost black. I also gained 17lbs I'm 267 now. I'm still at the gym but again I don't sit, I don't sleep well either. I need to change all these things and lose the weight. Going to try again.
so clear, thank you
And what about diet? Nutritional support and vitamin, mineral deficiences?
I was recently diagnosed with venous insufficiency but it's been slowly progressing for at least 5 years or more. I'm wondering if there's a connection to hashimoto's since it causes inflammation. My mother had horrible lymphedema. I'm looking for anything and everything I can do to prevent that same fate. 😢
Thanks for this video! Any suggestions out there I'm open to it all. 🙏
This disease will never be completely cured? Stocking treatment only?
It cannot be cured, but can be fully managed. The video does not mention vein treatment including endovenous laser ablation, phlebectomy, or sclerotherapy done by a vascular surgeon or vein clinic.
@@sutherbb36I was curious about the Venclose procedure. I am a candidate for this procedure as I was diagnosed with late stage CVI
Neat video. great topics..
Thank you, I've been dealing with the swelling of that area and eczema on my legs. I keep shaving, exfoliating, and using lotion but nothing helps.
thank you, this video really helped me!!!
What about genetics and heredity as causes ?
I would like more information about the genetic problem as well. My father had varicose veins, and I have recently been diagnosed with the late stages of CVI
in 2022 ive been hospitalized due to this because of a simple wound that i havent treated so the both entire legs has become like a zombie looking state unable to heal, at first the doctors said it was diabetes but in further examinations and study it was really chronic venous insufficiency, as of now i find my legs not the same anymore, now it weakened so easily in long walks and even on runs i might get leg cramps always and visible varicose veins can be seen and painful
Excellent!
I've got this. Its scary!!!!😢
Another great video.
Great information to know. Thank you.
Thank you for a lecture. Bj Slovenia Postojna
How to make difference between cellulitis and skin changes due to chronic venous insuffisancy clinically ???
Fantastic information
Thanks!
@@Ohiochic123 I will try some of those things, I have been to the doctor who said it’s just varicose veins and are not at a level where they could operate (not funded) they told me to get some compressions socks so I’m hoping that will help too
@@Ohiochic123 Guys check your LIVER health also!!! Be well
@@robr9170 Buddy, be careful of liver also!

I developed mine by a doctor way he treated my cellulitis infection in the hospital. He caused a hole near this vein and another one
how do you ease the itching ?
It’s sad you did not include investigations
I have this and stand all the time. And also overweight. It’s horrible staining on both legs. I want rid of it. How do you get rid of this?
Carnivore diet is working for me-it’s reversing quickly. Hopefully it will disappear completely, maybe several months? One month so far.
It’s interesting that you mention this. My spider veins and swelling started around the same time I became a vegetarian. I was only 41 and 120 pounds. Within a year, I had spider veins all over my legs and discoloration around my ankles. I guess it could be the protein deficiency or too many carbs. This is gonna be hard, but I’ll try the carnivore diet and see what happens. Thank you for sharing!
3rd time around for venous insuffiency. Im now wearing serious compression garments.
Where do you get them from
Can’t tolerate those stockings, expensive but so tight I can’t stand it! I now wear some more comfortable and bigger size, they work! But I’m on blood thinners and ankle swelling is going down. I have a clot on my lung. Cause doctor did nothing for me, I asked and asked! Almost died. I have no faith in him! Er doctor is doing more for me. My left leg is twice the size of right ankle. I even showed him. Like two completely different legs ugh
Can doing massage help to improve the condition?
Thanks
So are you a licensed clinician because I have a question about a side effect
I had 4 procedure still in pain & I have bumps on my legs as if I had water in this bumps. Pain lower radiating down to my feet tingling bil feet.
Well my doctor explained to me that in order to do the procedure there has to be tons of fluid around the veins
So the vein above my ankle seems to have a strong pulse that I feel lately when I lay down or am walking/-. It started as a itch and thought something was making it itch but then I noticed the vein that is going across the top of my ankle is protruding a bit and can see the purple color. Any idea what this may be? Doesnt hurt but now notice it all the time? Ty!
I noticed that you didn't include diabetes as a risk factor
When you have both it is contributing also add a third to the mix spongiotic dermatitis.,.
Thanks ❤❤❤
I'm suffering 12 year's with this. Please give me the treatment system
In this condition is that permissible to wear compte stock
I have been wondering what's going on with my ankles, and thought of searching for reasons and a solution if possible, i still need a diagnosis though, but its so itchy and it hs wounds now, what can i possibly do?!
But why they will have chronic inflammation?? That lead to eczema and lipodermatosclerosis??
I used to play basketball a lot and not using basketball shoes and later on i felt pain on my legs then a varicose veins occured do i have injury?
What kind of doctor should I seek to look at my legs? I’m starting to get this painful red rash on my leg, I’ve already known I’ve had venous insufficiency but this has started this week.. please help!
A vein specialist who is also a Phlebologist working together with an Interventional Radiologist.
I am going to a 'Vein Clinic' for diagnosis and treatment. The doctors are specialists.

How about causes?
I have a problem with leg ulcer it has not healed yet cause i dont have money for doctors 😢😢
What are medicines available over countter for Varicose veins

Yes, it is called Venixxa. Over counter or may need to ask at pharmacy.
Im 33 and im getting this , my legs are going numb, I have discoloration on the tops of my feet it looks like pepper flakes, starting to get redness in the ankles lower legs, and it all the sudden just started getting bad... I had some feet swelling last year and I wasn't sure what was going on but it went away... Now this is all the sudden started happening and it's really bad I can't even cross my leg... If I do it affects my whole body I can even start feeling numbness in my hands... I don't even have health insurance I don't know what to do... 😟😞😥 Im having trouble dealing with thid mentally it's making me very depressed... I've struggled with drug addiction, opiates to be specific and I feel like that's one of the main reasons I'm having this issue. On top of that I'm overweight I'm like 5'10 and weigh 215-220 so I know that can affect it being overweight and also I've worked in the restaurant industry since I was 17, standing 10 to 12 hours a day for over 7 years... I just recently started a job where I'm not standing for 12 hours a day for the first time in years... I'm just not handling this well, I'm too young for this to be happening and it's affecting my life very negatively and really only just begun to have symptoms like I'm saying the last 2 weeks...
Same with me. I had mrsa when using. How are u now? Hope ur ok
