  • In Chronic Venous Insufficiency (CVI) syndrome, there is damage to the valves within the lumen of the veins. This leads to venous hypertension as blood refluxes and backlogs in the veins.

    I believe I got mine when I had a sedentary desk job, I was trying to improve my health and fitness after 8yrs of living an unhealthy lifestyle. I'd weakened my veins and tissues through poor lifestyle, I then started exercising hard in my lunch breaks and would sit down after for 5+ hours making it hard for the pressure to escape up the leg damaging the valves. Hindsight is a wonderful thing.

    I have ads this for years and I am really upset because no one could ever give me an answer. I currently was diagnosed with conjestive heart failure and they thought that was the cause of all thymus inflammation. So now I have requested another ultrasound to check the veins. They only checked for blood clots the first time. I know this is the problem. Thank you.

    I think I was born with poor or no valves. Since I can remember my legs will pain at night. The doctor then said it was growing pains. We have a family history of bad varicose veins. My mother and all of her 7 sisters have it. My grandfather died bleeding from his veins. Last year I notice something on my leg but didn't worry much about it. It started to itch very badly and an ulcer appears after a few weeks. I went to the clinic and put a zinc bandage on that covered my whole leg above my knee to my foot. I have a second ulcer after a few months, the first one was healed. Is there any cure for this? or what can I do?

    I’m 62 and have osteoarthritis in both ankles (no cartilage, bone on bone) and I’ve been putting off ankle replacement of my “cankles”. My excuse has been that I’m waiting for Covid to “normalize”. Well this was a bad decision on my part bec I’ve been slowly experiencing the pain in my ankles going from bad to worse. I’m sure the inability to walk comfortably and succeeding sedintary lifestyle has caused the valves in my veins to fail. Then about a year ago I started noticing the discoloration of the skin and now it’s taken a turn for the worse; 2 weeks ago I noticed the “sores that aren’t healing fast” that I now know are veinous ulcers. Also, one leg has began swelling all the up to the thigh Time to go see the doc. At the very least I most likely have veinous insufficiency/ stasis with possibility of DVT.

      @CalmVibesVee 3 года назад +6

      @@thatwrengirl I got all the testing and decided to not get any procedures at this time as there is very little info to educate the patient on. I do not trust most medical advice but the vascular surgeon did tell me it can make it worse and she wouldn’t advise it for me till I can’t tolerate the side effects from venous insufficiency. I had to pull this out of her.
      I have returned to what has worked and improved all my health issues is specific diet and exercise approaches. I lost a few more pounds of fat, building muscle, diet is on point ketosis anti-inflammatory, fasting, collagen, etc. all the exercises, compression leggings or socks (do not have them too tight on calf go up up up in size) I am doing everything possible to increase muscle in my legs which helps the pump. Stay well read on *patients* improving symptoms this way as the medical community only approaches one way. If you are not able to do these things I would get the procedure as you must have circulation. I am making progress but willing to do what it takes to avoid the procedure. I hope the best for you!

      @@CalmVibesVee Thank you so much for the reply! My doctor recommended that I get more exercise and try going a few days without the stockings to see how I feel since I haven't gone without them since my problems started postpartum. I have a follow up meeting in a few months, so I'm going to see if I can help the problem without surgery. Definitely going to take up running and try to build muscle. Your advice about diet might also apply to my situation too. Again, thank you so much. I wish you all the best with your health journey!

I have seen a ton of things reversed or greatly improved with fat loss, low carb, fasting, and strength training - Things most Docs say you can’t reverse because they have been told that. So I switched to putting my hope and effort in leveling up in my approach and I’ve already had improvement. I won’t stop wearing the compressions till I have like AMAZING muscle gains in my legs but it is the goal 🙌🏼 Let’s do it!! The effort must be great if it’s going help.

    I was a nurse for 6 years before becoming home bound due to complications caused by Ehlers Danlos Syndrome, within a year of being home bound I slowly became more and more bed bound (I was fainting upon standing due to postural orthostatic tachycardia syndrome which goes along with the EDS). I've now been bed bound for 5 years and am having more and more trouble when I do attempt to stand. My legs turn a bright red and in some places even a slight purplish color. My doctor today gave me a referral to the Vein Center with a dx of Chronic Venous Insufficiency. I'm worried this puts me ever at risk for a DVT. Do you think the insufficiency would be caused by my lack of standing and the atrophy my legs have progressed to or could it be the increase of the elasticity of my veins caused by Ehlers Danlos Syndrome that could be causing this?

    Can yeast infections effect the venous systems in the lower extremities leading yo phlebitis? Patient is 35, male, in shape, non congenital, active, no varicose or ulcer, slight redness behind the toes, has had back issues and sciatica effecting one side. Smoker. But both legs below the knees have had edema for past few years. Says really only notices when taking off socks after wearing for any length of time. All blood and urine labs are normal, echo on heart checked out, no sleep issues besides lack there of for typical job related tasks.. does complain of high stress and depression which are non medicated and no other medication either.. in my opinion being a smoker wouldnt be the sole cause. He's been a smoker since 16, says both cannabis and cigarettes at less than 2 grams and half a pack per day, no alcohol.. Its boggling the mind. Blood pressure is unpredictable at times as is heart rate but pressures have spiked on occasion as he has a tester at home. Also sugar levels and diet are normal and sufficient as lab results confirm. The depression seems pretty severe and social anxiety issues from time to time but not anything to be to alarmed of but the depression needs addressed as it was before but he has not had health insurance for past few years.. says hes never used any intravenous drugs or hard drugs but did drink heavily for a short period after his mother passed but has since been sober for more than 7 years. No other illnesses or allergies, otherwise healthy individual..

    • @Z-Ack
      @Z-Ack 3 года назад

      Obvious Pitting edema below the knees.. says removing socks will cause itching but no pain or effected movement , slight numbness. Looks like what appears to be mild psoriasis longitudinal erythronychia and a subungual keratotic mass at the distal end of the nail beds on majority of toes. Likely hygienic factors but prudent none the less. Mild hair loss on ankle areas. Regular bowel movements. That should cover the extent.. any ideas? Maybe a lower extremity doppler or pressure observations?
