Hi thanks for this valuable information. I had an MC and DOT before 2018. I’ve been inactive for over 5 years. I wanted to know if it’s possible for me to register a new s-corp with a different name and EIN and still use the old MC number?

It’s possible I just did it. Old MC new USDOT. But with the rate’s being low and fuel prices rising it’s best to be a driver until it gets better. I bought a 2018 freighliner in 2021 when truck prices were still high. Too late for me now just gotta roll with the punches.

You can use your online portal if you have your USDOT PIN information to make changes. If you need to setup your portal, see here: portal.FMCSA.dot.gov to obtain instructions on portal access. Otherwise MCSA-5889

If I want to take my DBA off. Will I do this process?

To remove the DBA, you will have to do a name change. The name change is done by having the PIN number. The PIN number can be requested on Saferweb. The name change is $14. The pin will allow you to make the change electronically.
