I just wanted to let you know that I live here in the Dominican Republic in Puerto Plata and most women here, not all of them, but most of them, will try to either try to take advantage of your kindness or rob you when you are not looking. A woman who truly appreciates your generosity, hospitality and kindness, would never attempt to rob you. I am leaving the Dominican Republic because of women like this, and because aftet 17 months living here. I have discovered that 90% of the Dominicans do not truly appreciate most Americans. See the way you played this sir, THIS is how you handle craziness! The BEST way to handle those who try to come with that ole okey doke shyt is to put them at ease until you get them away from you, and when you are not as prepared as your are, take the "L". There was a cat who went to Sosua a few years ago, did not speak ANY of the language, met a young lady in "The Club" at the time but they negotiated a price for the whole night. The young lady spends time with him and she decides that she did not want to spend the whole night with him but wanted the price for the whole evening. Instead of just playing it smart and giving her the negotiated price, he argues with her that he will not give her all the money since she stayed with him for only a short amount of time. Ole girl got the cops involved, concocted a false narrative, showed bruises that hotel security video could have proved she lied about (the hotel did not get involved) and ole boy wound up in jail. Took THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS (NOT PESOS) to get him out. Always have to think Strategically in other countries and always remember that we ain't back at home

I always have two hotels when I’m in DR. One for all my valuables and one to have fun in. It’s a bit pricey but thankfully I’ve never been robbed there.

I caught a chica trying to steal money from me back in 2014 on my 1st visit there, I immediately escorted her out of my hotel room. Since then my money stays in a safe or within my sight when having a visitor and haven't had an issue since. You have some chicas from out of town that come there to take advantage of some gringos and will dissappear if they make a good heist.

I sliced two guys once in sosua. One tried to pick pocket me while there were 6 girls hitting on me. I didn't realize there were 4 police officers about 20 feet behind me. The girls freaked out and ran. One guy jumped on my back while the other two tried to get my money. That's when I started swinging my gravity knife. The cops ran over, and the 3 dudes ran. The cops were cool. They drove me to the liquor store and then back to the hotel. They even asked if I wanted to stop and get a girl before going back to my hotel 😂😂😂😂 but if those cops weren't there. I don't know what would've happened. I've been going to DR for 10 years. Live there now. I go back and forth from NYC to DR. that's the only problem i've ever had. DR is a great place. Don't let one bad experience ruin your good times.

I dated a girl in Cali, Colombia barrio Granada for 5 years. One day I was taking a shower. She thought I was in the shower, but I was actually by the sink. I went to check on her and found her with my wallet in her hands checking my money. She got panic. I got out of the shower. I just wanted to let you know that I live here in the Dominican Republic in Puerto Plata and most women here, not all of them, but most of them, will try to either try to take advantage of your kindness or rob you when you are not looking. A woman who truly appreciates your generosity, hospitality and kindness, would never attempt to rob you. I am leaving the Dominican Republic because of women like this, and because aftet 17 months living here. I have discovered that 90% of the Dominicans do not truly appreciate most Americans. They are only using us for our financial benefits (money). They do not see our friendship as being something of value. Most Americans value the friendship of another person as being invaluable! Not a Dominican! They only value what they can get from you at that time! I will be leaving this pre-historic country to move to Thailand, very soon and I doubt I will return.

See the way you played this sir, THIS is how you handle craziness! The BEST way to handle those who try to come with that ole okey doke shyt is to put them at ease until you get them away from you, and when you are not as prepared as your are, take the "L". There was a cat who went to Sosua a few years ago, did not speak ANY of the language, met a young lady in "The Club" at the time but they negotiated a price for the whole night. The young lady spends time with him and she decides that she did not want to spend the whole night with him but wanted the price for the whole evening. Instead of just playing it smart and giving her the negotiated price, he argues with her that he will not give her all the money since she stayed with him for only a short amount of time. Ole girl got the cops involved, concocted a false narrative, showed bruises that hotel security video could have proved she lied about (the hotel did not get involved) and ole boy wound up in jail. Took THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS (NOT PESOS) to get him out.

It’s a bit pricey but thankfully I’ve never been robbed there.

I caught a chica trying to steal money from me back in 2014 on my 1st visit there, I immediately escorted her out of my hotel room. Since then my money stays in a safe or within my sight when having a visitor and haven't had an issue since. You have some chicas from out of town that come there to take advantage of some gringos and will dissappear if they make a good heist.

I sliced two guys once in sosua. One tried to pick pocket me while there were 6 girls hitting on me. I didn't realize there were 4 police officers about 20 feet behind me. The girls freaked out and ran. One guy jumped on my back while the other two tried to get my money. That's when I started swinging my gravity knife. The cops ran over, and the 3 dudes ran. The cops were cool. They drove me to the liquor store and then back to the hotel. They even asked if I wanted to stop and get a girl before going back to my hotel 😂😂😂😂 but if those cops weren't there. I don't know what would've happened. I've been going to DR for 10 years. Live there now. I go back and forth from NYC to DR. that's the only problem i've ever had. DR is a great place. Don't let one bad experience ruin your good times.

I dated a girl in Cali, Colombia barrio Granada for 5 years. One day I was taking a shower. She thought I was in the shower, but I was actually by the sink. The fact you can blend in without them thinking you're American helps & you also sound sensible which helps even more. Medellin is also pretty "new", American bros haven't been going there in large numbers more than 5yrs ago.
