- A DAY IN GERMANY'S ROMANTIC & PICTURESQUE BLACK FOREST// Happy Friday lovely people, Today we're sharing our amazing day in the Black Forest in Southwest Germany. The Black Forest (Schwarzwald) is one of the most beautiful, romantic and picturesque regions in Germany and you can't help but fall in love with this place. Famous for its Black Forest Gateau, cuckoo clocks but so much more like quaint towns and villages, gorgeous houses, scenic walks and overall a landscape that takes your breath away.
We visited the Vogtsbauernhof, an open air museum with stunning farmhouses that show how people used to live in the Black Forest. It's a must see!
After that we visited Schiltach which is only a 15 minute drive from Vogtsbauernhof in Gutach. Walking around Schiltach, you feel as if time stood still. The half-timbered houses in the historical old town are breathtakingly beautiful and having some Black Forest Gateau at Café Bachbeck there was the icing on the cake. We hope you enjoy our little Black Forest Germany Travel Guide! Wunderschöner Schwarzwald!

Thank you for giving us this gift! My mother was born in Germany but moved to the US in 1928. Her whole life she would say that her heart's desire was to go back to Germany before she died. In 2000 I gave her her dream and took her on vacation. One of the places we visited was the Black Forest. This video reminds me of the wonderful time we had there and brings back memories of that trip. My mother never stopped talking about our trip to Germany and the joy it brought her. She died in 2011. Blessings to you and Joerg!
So wonderful if you to make her dream come true!
She's in another world and we will see that world someday! The Kybalion 🤔
What a wonderful story. Thanks for sharing
How nice of you to do this for your
mother.
Ok....the scene is set. Joerg and Kirsten's fairytale romantic story. The most delightful, charming and fabulous couple you can ever possibly share adventures with. The destinations they take you to are always well thought out, picturesque and informative......not to mention Joerg's captivating photography along with Kirsten's charming commentary ❤ Thank you for sharing Germany with us!
Indeed!
It's so beautiful, I can't believe places like this exist.
It's so special!
I cannot accept that so many beautiful mystical places on earth were destroyed!!!
Oh they do. I have relatives who are hereditary foresters in the Schwarzwald(Black forest in English.) my dad was Us Airforce, but we never got transfered there. Would have liked to have met relatives there and in Garmisch. He was able in the late 1950s to do a TDY to England and Germany . Unfortunately when in Germany, he didn't have time to go to Nuremberg, to see the family history book kept by family. Glad and happy you are bringing such wonderful places to us.
The Black Forest looks wonderful with all the farms and historic homes. Thank you so much for sharing your sightseeing adventures ☺️
It's so stunning, isn't it?!
Everything seems to grow so
abundantly.
I actually live in the Black Forest. It's nice to see my home through the eyes of someone else. It makes me appreciate more where I live. I used to go on vacation to the UK almost every year before the pandemic. I really like your videos.
Hello from the states. Germany looks absolutely beautiful. The Black Forest looks like a fairytale. So beautiful. Thank you for sharing your trip with us. Safe travels.
If you like old charming houses, the Harz area is a good place too, like Wernigerode. Personally I live in a small town where a house doesn't count as old if it hasn't at least 200 years on it. This always shocks US people ;)
I just love listening to your soothing voices. You two seem to be so in tune to one another. True love and compatibility are a wonder and joy to behold. Please know without a doubt that you both are admired and loved. I’m privileged to be one of your subscribers. Thankyou so very much for your hard work and dedication. Blessings from just a grandma in Texas 🇺🇸🥰
New Saturday morning tradition in our household: we watch Kirsten & Joerg! Thank you. You go places we may never see in real life and we are so very grateful.
The animals are so sweet.❤️
The village is so well cared for. Flowers all around and in window boxes make it so picturesque. So much history. The owners of properties must receive help for upkeep and flower maintenance. Not one house is in tatters or even near it. The black forest cake, oh my. What can I say, your native country has been a joy to visit with you. Thanks so much, Kirsten and Joerg.😊💕👋🏼
it's an open air museum. it's really fantastic
People who own listed buildings can apply for funds from the local ministries for culture.
Both the buildings and countryside are so beautiful.
Many thanks again for taking me on that wonderfully, magical journey. It has been very many years since I visited there. I also was born in Germany and moved to England and now live in Canada. Being in my 70's now, I return and joyfully travel, vicariously, to my home countries, through your adventures. I can't thank you enough. Love to you both....Brigitte
So Pretty. Imagine it at Christmas time. It would look like a fairy tale Christmas, I think.
Joerg looks absolutely happy in this amazing place and Kirsten is as well. Wonderful trip.
Absolutely charming. Germany has so much appeal. Love this tour. Thank you Kirsten and Joerg!
Thanks so much!
You guys always take me away from my boring life. Thank you!
Awww thank you!
I am in the US, but many years ago now, (late 70's & early 80's) one of my brothers that had joined the US Army ended up stationed in Germany for 3 years. To this day, his favorite desserts are German chocolate cake & Black forest cake lol. He always remarked on the architecture that he had seen there.
My favorite childhood book was "Heidi". These cottages so remind me of it! Charming and beautiful...Thanks for taking me there. XO
It’s my all-time most most favorite place! I have always dreamed and envisioned going to the black forest in Germany and you are so very blessed to be able to be a part of that and thank you so much for bringing it to us!👍💯❤️💯❤️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️ absolutely spectacular!👌
Been many times to Germany but I've never been to the Black Forest and this video definitely makes me want to go there, it looks amazing.
Germany is a beautiful place - I was there many years ago - would love to go back and see it again. Thank you so much Kirsten and Joerg.
Kirsten & Joerg. What a beautiful place. Would love to visit the Schwartzwald. We have a board chair with a heart ❤ cut in the back and a cuckoo cuckoo clock. As I said before one of my great grandfather s came from that region. I really love living history sites. Very educational. Dovie liked the goats. Have a safe trip. Cheers Ron & Dovie.
Thanks so much Ron & Dovie, have a nice weekend.
You made me fall in love with Germany all over again. I went on holiday many years ago to the Black Forest with a boyfriend and had the most wonderful holiday, but only saw a small fraction of the area. In Northern Ireland they have many outside museums showing how people used to live, and also how they moved to America. I think you would find it interesting..
So glad you liked it!
You know that both of you have a wonderful outlook on life - I especially was struck by how grateful you are in everything you do. It comes across in such a lovely way. As always, thanks for sharing with us!!!
OMG you are in my favourite area! I’ve been to this museum about five times already and my kids love to go to the sommerodelbahn after. I will press pause and watch this with my husband later because it is a very special place for us! 💓 thanks for taking us along
It's so great there, isn't it!
Kristen and Jorg, you two are my favorite people ❤. You seem so calm and kind. I wish there were more folks like you in the world. Thank you for the lovely videos and places. I have watched you for about two years ❤❤ It’s great!!!
Thank you so much! Your support means the world!🙏
You bring back our memories of visiting Germany with my mother in 2013. We visited Titisee too for cuckoo clocks. Some clock cottages had them on the outer wall ! The country roads leading to it were like a dream, living in a fairy story, so lovely and peaceful. Have no words to express this. We are inspired by the beauty of Germany, you must be humbly taking pride in it.
Just the architecture makes remember how Germany, Switzerland, Austria and Hungary used to be one country
Not the same country but inhabited by allemanic tribes.
Loved seeing the charming cottages and gardens in this beautiful part of Germany. Thanks guys for taking us along, and great job as always with the filming. 😍
I have always heard of the Black Forest but never thought to actually visit - and now I have been able to - with you both - so wonderful.
Beautiful!!!! Thank you for sharing this with us! A big hug from Guatemala 🇬🇹!
You are very welcome!
Truly gorgeous, the Black Forest,it's where I come from. Its hard to watch this video because it is my homeland and I get so homesick. Thank you for taking me home for a short trip.
The old houses are charming and the cake is tempting.
Loved the Germany travels so far...I am unable to travel now so this is wonderful escape for me..Thankyou !!
I have been so looking forward to seeing the Black Forest area. My grandparents visited a lot in the 1960s and had a very vocal cuckoo clock in their home which did keep me awake, haha. A very enjoyable video, stunning houses and scenery, and the animals looked very happy too!
My late husband’s ancestors were from the area. Thank you so much for another ❤ lovely video.
Thank you for showing the delightful places Germany. They really are heart warming and beautiful homes and gorgeous green immaculate countryside. Stunning.
Oooo lovely Kirsten. Just what I've been looking forward to. Just need to do a couple of small chores, then I shall sit down with a nice cup of tea to enjoy this lovely video that you have prepared for us.
Yay, so glad you like it, thanks so much Stella!
@@KirstenJoerg it was a delight to watch, the black forest region is exceptional. Thanks for sharing this with us. Have a safe journey back home xxx
@@sugarbabylove1000 Thanks so much Stella! We returned nearly 2 weeks ago.
@@KirstenJoerg oh LOL 🤣 ... Well glad you are home safe and sound x God bless x
The Black Forest region is such a charming part of the world. It is very reminiscent of Switzerland, which I know is just south of the Black Forest. Thank you for another lovely trip to your homeland.
Russian wooden houses always had the "beautiful corner" with an icon, a candle, setting on a small piece of fabric with red embroidery, perhaps. Red being the "beautiful" color.
It wasn't until I saw the Hat, the" Bollenhut" that the Volkswagon with the large red balls atop made any sense to me... that is too funny! I'm sorry, I'm still chuckling over it...
. I've been hoping you would do some tours through your home country, the Black Forest villages are really unique and rustic. The garden fence made of hollow looking poles was intriguing.
Yay, was looking forward to this!
Thanks so much!
You bring back wonderful memories of my husband’s and my trip to Bavaria and southern Germany in fall 2019. Afternoon coffee and cake was a favorite moment each travel days. We traveled with friends from Nurnberg.
If only you could imagine the joy you two and your videos bring into these cold and grey November days in Finland!
Schiltach is such a nice place, only 2,5h from where i live. On my to do list during fall season 😍👍🏻
So enjoyed this tour of the beautiful Black Forest and the living history museum that showcases traditions so well. I actually visited the world’s largest cuckoo clock this summer- in Sugarcreek, Ohio, no doubt. Thanks for sharing German glory with us!
Great vlog, the Black Forest looks wonderful, would love to go there. And WOW the Black Forest Gateau cake, the real McCoy looks yummy, good appetite.
Thanks so much Jane!
Thank you so much for the visit to the Black Forest now I understand the design of the cookoo clock my mother had. Her side of the family was German. Something I’m only now learning to appreciate
A fairytale! It looks like the air is good to breathe in!
Very interesting to see and learn how they lived so many years ago!
Your dress is darling! Very unique with the birds , just lovely
Thank you for this lovely tour!
So beautiful, and picturesque. Looks like you’re having an amazing time in Germany. Thank you for sharing ❤️
So glad you like it Sarah! We had a wonderful time.
Thank you. I enjoyed Black Forrest very much. Adorable town.
German craftsmanship is amazing and so durable. These cottages are so well built and beautiful.
Absolutely stunning. The buildings and scenery are just so beautiful. Joerg I definitely have Black Forest cake envy. Kirsten you look so beautiful in these videos. What a lovely way to end my evening taking in such beauty of Germany.
The Schwarzwald is so very beautiful. I remember many beautiful streams and forests, gorgeous homes and pretty geraniums everywhere. I especially loved the little farms, where the animals lived on the first floor and the people lived above. So clean and refreshing. Thank you!
🌷💗🌷
Simply Beautiful thank you both much.reminds me of my Dad he could speak German fluently..God bless you both are a Blessing to me
It is so beautiful there in the Black Forest, so picturesque, Thank you so much for sharing Kirsten and Joerg.
Back in the 50s/60s my granddad always told me the story of Hansel and gretel I loved it those houses are what I imagined. You must miss Germany so much with all the beauty there
This is such a magical region. I loved the bells in the beginning.
It really is a fairytale region! So glad you like it Elizabeth, thank you!
I love the comment: You find nice houses everywhere.
So true! So beautiful! Thank you for sharing 💕
Wow! Stunning or what ! Both places…i just love those beautiful houses, and the amount of flowers in the window boxes. The Black Forest looks ideal. Can you imagine a house that size in the UK lol. They wouldn’t know where to put it 😅😅. The tour was lovely, i felt like i was there, i feel you showed us a great deal, thank you for that. I do hope you both enjoyed your cake…both looked scrumptious, have a great week both xx
The black Forest is one of my most favorit places i often went there when my sister lived there thanks à lot to both of you
It's gorgeous, isn't it!
Black Forest looks beautiful. Love the historical context and building.
I had a holiday once near the BF area and I loved all the wonderful paintings on the houses.

It's so beautiful there!
Thank you so much for this vlog. I miss Germany SO much. I can "feel" Germany by watching your videos.....
What beautiful villages and houses ! They look like in a fairy tale and the nature around is beautiful too. I like so much Black Forest gâteau as soon as I can I buy one but I am sure that it is better in Germany.
What a gift you gave us!
A true treat!
Danke!
ДЯКУЮ ВАС ЗА ВІДЕО.ХАЙ ВАМ ЩАСТИТЬ ПО ЖИТТЮ.
The Black Forest is the epitome of charming! Loved this!
It truly is! Thanks so much!
This is so beautiful. Both the houses and the gardens that surround them. Thank you for sharing.
My father's grandfather came with his family from Baden-Baden in 1857 on a sailing ship to Massachusetts. I just love your channel & especially your trips to Germany
Dear Kristen and Joerg,
thank you once more for the stunning journey of Historic Charms in your wonderful Homeland
Enchanting, an endears me even more the love shared between you both ♥️
My English cousin married his sweetheart (Renate R.I.P) from Leipzig, an I always hoped to
Take a trip to Germany, the years have flown by an with pandemic , on my back-burner list
To take a Viking River Cruise Germany.
You both are the most beautiful wonderful couple 👏
Mary Canada 🍁
You two just appreciate “beauty” whatever country your in ❤️. I so hope we get to try again for the river cruise - maybe my 65th birthday treat - when they told us our cruise was cancelled - it was 3 days to the trip 🥺🥺🥺 I cried forever 2 days - awful time - little did I think I could be more upset by COVID certainly topped that !!
I totally understand! This is how I felt when we went to Germany because I was about to cancel the trip and then the UK changed the travel regulations with France. My emotions were all over the place so I can really relate. It would be wonderful if you plan it once more as you would love it.
What a beautiful place, Kirsten and Joerg thank you so much, I throughly enjoyed it! I don’t know why but it reminded me of Alice in wonderland, maybe because of the name Black Forest! Have a safe trip back home.💕
So glad you like it, thanks so much! We made it back to the UK a while ago, all went well.
Visited the Black Forest on a tour from Switzerland in 1989. Still magical place.
I’m mesmerized by all of your stories.
You're such a great travel companion, together with you the trip become so smooth🤗 Thank you for the guided tour 👍
If RUclips had a smell and taste option..... *giggles* ☺️ what a charming place to visit! Thank you for sharing your experience with us! It really is a gift to those of us who would love to travel and are unable to. 💐
The forest indeed looks like the scene of the many Grimm Brothers tales that it inspired!!! The bark of the trees indeed appear as sable!!! And the moss growing is bright deep verdant hue - I remember earth looking reddish and, at autumn, a crystalline mist in the air!!!
Then suddenly a little boy appeared from behind the trees with toy sword in hand: demanding to know who we - interlopers to "his kingdom" - were!
Only one visit there 40 years ago - but vividly memorable. Gott segnet euch - alle!!!❤🙏🏼🎆
This viog is an all time favorite. The towns were beautiful. I'm so happy that they live on after all these years. Your quiet enjoyment also put me into a trance along with the scenery/beautiful music. I felt I was floating on a magic carpet. I thought the Black Forest Cake/Gateau was so mouthwatering. Thanks for sharing this trip with us.
In the black forest I had my most embarrassing encounter. 🥵🥵 Was that fair, what do you think ??
Truly magical! I think it's wonderful that they preserved the houses and the villages as they were so long ago. The cake looked delicious.
It is true that beauty is found when we look for it....but today I fell in love with the Black Forest. Thank you both so much for sharing it. You add beauty and love to the world. It is very much appreciated.
Simply beautiful 🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰
Makes us so incredibly happy, thank you!
The town houses are very picturesque.😉💕
How beautiful! Makes me “homesick” even though it’s not my home it takes me back to the years I spent living in Germany. I’m so glad you are having such a wonderful trip. Much love to you both! ❤️❤️
Hallo ihr zwei da waren wir auch schon sehr schön im Schwarzwald 👋🙋♀️💗Lg.Heidi
Liebe Grüße zurück
Beautiful ! I loved seeing the Black Forest , I ve heard about it, but never actually seen parts of it like this! Thank you for sharing ! I loved it!
What a great video! 😍
We are very pleased that you enjoyed your stay at our open air museum!
Thank you so much for your visit 😊
Vielen herzlichen Dank für den lieben Kommentar! Ist einfach immer wieder schön im Vogtsbauernhof. Viele Grüße von uns in den schönen Schwarzwald.
This was another wonderful video to watch. I’m so glad the area was not damaged by the massive flooding that occurred this past summer. Thank you for sharing your day in the Black Forest with us. Keep well.
So glad you like it Elizabeth!
Un grand merci pour la traduction en français je vous suit depuis 1 an et j adore vos reportages une belge admirative de vos supers reportages
Thank you for showing the beauty of the Black Forest! My family came to the US in 1860 from that area and settled in SE Wisconsin which is heavily populated by German immigrants at that time. Many traditional German sausage makers still produce the same sausages they did in Germany and bratwurst is one of the favorites!
Absolutely beautiful! 🥰
So happy you like it!
I can’t believe anyone would give a thumbs down on this video, I choose to believe it was a mistake!! 😬 an absolutely beautiful serene place. What is the reason for calling it the Black Forest? Was it so dense with trees? I could look it up but would love to hear from you both your take on it sense you are from Germany. The best to you both and thank you for taking us along. Mary
It gets its name from the canopy of evergreens looming above the forest floor.
Black forest looks like a fairy tail.Beautyful, houses are gourgous.
So beautiful, I've always wanted to visit The Black Forest and now I have, thank you both so much. Everywhere is so beautiful, thank you again for taking us with you.xx
