“It was incredible working with the full band in studio. I plugged my laptop into the protools session, as did Lukarther with his guitar & a few vocal mics. I’d play loops, chord progressions & beats & the guys would riff over the top. Lukarther even replayed one of my synth riffs on guitar which became the main hook in the chorus of the song. I walked away from that session with about 120 recordings of ideas & it took me about 3.5yrs & many revisits to fully realise the piece & pull it together.
Thank you to Surahn Sidhu, James Rushent, Damien Weatherly & George Maple for your advice & contributions to this song finally coming together!”

Lyrics:
Tonight’s the night we leave this all behind
Stuck in the same old place in the same old state of mind
Before our luck runs out let’s get out while we can
We’re turning in circles we’re back where we began
Tonight, tonight
We keep on running, on next to nothing
Tonight, tonight
We keep on running, on next to nothing
Tonight’s the night we leave this all behind
Stuck in the same old place in the same old state of mind
Before our luck runs out let’s get out while we can
We’re turning in circles we’re back where we began
Don't leave me hanging
Tonight, tonight
We keep on running, on next to nothing
Tonight, tonight
We keep on running, on next to nothing
We keep on running, on next to nothing
Tonight, tonight
We keep on running, on next to nothing
We keep on running [Tonight, tonight]
We keep on running
We keep on running
We keep on running [Oooh]
We keep on running, on next to nothing
Tonight, tonight
Oooh
We keep on running, on next to nothing
Tonight, tonight
Tonight, tonight
Oooh
We keep on running, on next to nothing
We keep on running, on next to nothing
We keep on running, on next to nothing

LUKATHER
"Lukarther"
@@davidweed924 his name is Steve Lukather
The first time, I thought: "Just a typo". But there's a second time. Definitely not a typo, but massive disrespect instead.
@Nope Nope I have no idea what you mean. Would have been a great time? What would have been a great time?
I bless the rains down in Africa.
It's bless the rains! :)
No idea what you're talking about, it's exactly how I wrote it ;)
thast what he wrote u muppet
It's that's
He edited it after I mentioned it. (Note that the original comment shows "edited" and the wink in his post after mine!) All good. And I'm flattered you'd note I was a muppet! So much more than a mortal man...
What a Fuuuckin Great Song and Album !!!
A Collab with TOTO, Just AWESOME !!!
When one of your favourite artists does a collab. With Toto. FCKN TOTO!!! This album is sick
Killer song !! Thanks Steve Lukather and What So Not for sharing this with me and the world !!
The most randomist collab. LOVE IT BRUTHA!
Luke and Joe ROCK THIS!!
Can't wait to hear this in a weird ass commercial
This sounds like an EDM remix version of any Toto song from their Tambu album.
Which, for a diehard Toto fan like me, isn't a bad thing.
Tambu is amazing. I Will Remember is my favorite from that album. So many great songs on that album, super underrated. My all time favorite by them is probably Turn Back.
Drag Him To The Roof is a masterpiece.
OMG TOTO!?!?!?!!!! THAT WAS AMAZING!!!
Damn Toto my favorite band 😍 & What so not
best song on the album
This ending though of this track. Wow 😍 makes me look at the life around me.
Toto musicianship is top-notch. Love this!
this song definitely needs a music video!
Underrated Music.
Definitely a departure from Toto’s signature sound, but I still like it. Steve & Joe were killing it here.
Album of the year!!
If people ask you for an example of Toto's "signature sound" just send them a link to this song.
😂 lol
A good number of Toto fans don't seem to like this, but I think it's great. Well done.
This album was really impressive, I cannot stop listening to the songs good job!!!!
The drop gives me goosebumps every time

Probably biggest "what the fuck moment" for the last year or so.But it's actually really nice
When you search banger this comes up
Just saw What so nots show. Totally sick show. He played Toto's Rains in Africa remix that was totally sick!!!
Toto Rains in Africa? ...
@@chantalvde-a6831 LoL oops Toto's Rain . ... .
@@pdbouie *He played a remix of Toto's 'Africa'. The song's called 'Africa'. :-)
Toto actual! :)
Ohh yes this is my marmalade
Holy fuck Trevor!!
I guess that some copyrights issue made the song change a bit, but this is also fire!✨
? Was there an original version leaked which was different or something?
Bro, this track is AWESOME ! I listened to Toto, a few years ago and it's an amazing band, I like that !!!!
If you remove the "FIRST" part of your comment, it would be ok
Neox Görst Yea I should definitely 😂😂
haha, I just think it's annoying and no need to write that if you don't have anything else to say related to the video, but you said a lot more 😍🎶
Listen to their other stuff Ryu Junior, do yourself a favour. So much more to Toto than Africa, Rosanna and Hold the Line. Or check them out live on youtube from their current tour - killer!
KingdomofLuke1 Yea I know dude, there was a time, 2 or 3 years ago, my father listened to them, I really like is af. And seeing them in the EDM industry is like a dream haha
very good!

Toto as in Africa?
Check them out on youtube Total Equinox - they just finished another killer tour of Europe. Touring the US again this summer if that's where you're from!
indeed it is
yeah babe
Yep. One of the songwriters for What So Not is the son of Toto's guitarist.
I loved this song, the drop is only awsome.
But i miss the old WSN style.
There's bass on this track, for example at 3:14, at 3:35, and at 3:59. Does anyone know who plays it and whether it's electric bass guitar, upright bass, or synth bass? (And, if there's more than one person playing bass, I'd love to know who all such players are.) Thanks.
Much Beatles in it, Luke.....
Where are the explosions? Where is climax?
It's a nice little song, but WSN has put itself in focus and made a mix, where they use TOTO as stunt musicians. There is a sense of "giving the youngsters what they want."
And that comes from TOTO fan...
Toto = Zeitlos
The Africa Remix would also Released???
I love it (her). What is the story behind it (her), though?
Her? What are you on about? And the story behind what? There's a story in the caption. What more do you need to know?
@@chantalvde-a6831 no idea. I don’t remember writing this comment or watching this video. Might have been one of my kids.
Still too bad it wasn t a single release in Holland and the rest of Europe. You shoould do it this month, when Toto releases their old is new album containing the song
Kinda hard to believe that this is the same toto who did africa. Lol. This track is sick.
And today they are freaking old... africa for life
They have only just finished yet another tour in Europe japanerkatana - maybe check them out on youtube before commenting next time
KingdomofLuke1 i know
Why "hard to believe"? Great musicians who have contributed to music for the past 40 years. Toto is not just Africa.
It's only hard to believe for people who don't know Toto, and all of the music that they have created and contributed to.
Pero qué clase de África es esta?
lennin ibarra ima guess your asking if it’s the same Toto as Africa, so yes
algo nuevo y geniaal
NOT official TOTO-track, but for sure Steve "Luke" Lukather´s songvoice (Y) :-)

1:05 Fuck
I'm definitely not the demographic for this song. But even admitting that, it sounds like a filler for something. Thinking something in Toto realm of songs like The Seventh One or She Knows the Devil. I'm not even sure I should mention the lyrics...EDM doesn't neccessarily bother with that, right? Parts of this is kinda cool but "thin" overall.
Again, I'm not the audience WSN is looking for. I'm a long time Toto Fan since 1978 so just chiming in from that perspective.
I'm not a toto fan and I agree. Definitely not feeling this song.
I think I know what you mean. I'm a long time Toto lover too, but I also listen to a lot of edm, so I listen to this with an absolute open mind. But there's... I don't know... something missing. For something that was apparently worked on for a long time, this sounds (to me) more than a stripped down first demo than an actual 'full' song. There's just not much... happening. It's not that a want an overproduced crammed-to-the-brim song, but I think this is the other end of the spectrum. I think your word 'thin' describes it really well. It's voice (not much of it, unfortunately, because it's the same thing over and over again), a guitar (which sounds to me is the thing that makes that song, the only thing that gives it a bit of atmosphere and melody) and... what, exactly? Bit of synth. When it comes to this being an edm song, there's not much e and d to go around, in my opinion. The fact that the producer misspells Lukather TWICE doesn't help much either, I must admit.
Wow isn't this the artist from Afrika?
NOWSAmusic This are they
papcio 21 Wow that's very sick ! Best album of this year already :)
Ugh. The world today. Knowing What So Not better than a band with basically the most well-known musicians of the industry in it. Also, *Africa.
wait this is actually the same Toto? this isn't a meme right?
Not a meme, this is absolutely them (well, Lukather, mostly). Surprise move. To me, it's extremely cringe, and I genuinely don't understand that this is apparently a track that took a lot of work. Somebody else in the comments described it as 'thin' and I agree. Also, I will never understand dance tracks that you can't actually dance to, that have a 'drop' (or anti-drop) with either nothing happening or with a completely different rhythm that the rest of the song. I know these kinds of songs are popular, especially in the US (I had a bit of a shock when I went to Mysteryland USA as a Dutch edm lover and was treated to hours and hours of songs that built up to a climax that never came). So, to each their own, but it's not for me. I do like surprising collabs and crossovers though. Just not this one.
The build-up increases, especially towards 3:30... and then again... nothing. I.e. anti-drop. Not my things. But I do really like the vocals, as per usual with Lukather. Which is written Lukather, not Lukarther - this has been pointed out quite a few times and they've still not bothered to correct it in the caption, which doesn't help in my appreciation, tbh.
So many people only knowing 'Africa', when that's the song basically the least representative of Toto's oeuvre.
Why a horse. I really don't get the song. Though, still a great scooter song
Not the best track on here, the drop is cool and nothing against Toto but it should of just been intstrumental in the last half of the song. The yelling of "TONIGHT, TONIGHT" is so obnoxious.
Toto just recorded the vocal probably, they had nothing with the mixing of the song.
I think the 'Tonight, tonight' bit actually makes what I assume is supposed to be the chorus. Without the voice, the chorus is... well, there's not much left.
What is this click at 0:30 hahaha
