I just want you to know that, even with children ( grown), I can relate. I'm bitter, because my husband passed away 30 years ago, when I was only 43 (he was older, 63), so I'm still single. Children grow up, get married or partner up, have kids. Sometimes, they weaponize the grandkids and use them to "punish" us parents, who they consider "toxic". So, having gone through all this, now at 73, I'm alone/ (NOT by choice), and, one CANNOT depend on their grown children anymore. I don't know if that is any consolation whatsoever, but believe me..life holds NO guarantees. Mine didn't turn out how I thought AT ALL. Hugs to you. 🙏🏻❤️🌹

Yes, absolutely these feelings are not only normal for people who don't have children. Children and a partner certainly don't guarantee anything, despite what most of us are led to believe. Thanks for sharing your perspective. Sounds difficult as well. Hugs to you.
