    This was the most comprehensive, in depth explanation of a camera rig I've ever seen. Every little mount and adapter and the WHY you use it. Thank you!

    Really useful, thanks Tom! When you're powering multiple devices from the same power source, what order are you adding them to avoid fried HDMI ports? Battery first, then cables, or the other way round? I can't seem to get any clarity on how to do this, yet it's such an important element when using a shared power source. Many seem to say battery first with all appliances turned off, add cables, then turn on, but as far as I can see with a Z cam, as soon as you add a vmount, it turns on. Maybe I have that wrong? I don't yet have one but am about to bite the bullet, and don't want any fried HDMIs! It'd be great to know your experience.

    Hi Tom, thanks for your video, it’s very very helpful. I have a possibly difficult question. I’m wanting to move up from Mirrorless to Cinematic as video is my real passion, there’s a bewildering array of cameras out there. From your experience are there any cameras that you would recommend as covering most filming situations - not withstanding rigging out, but as a a core module . I’ve looked at Zcam, Komodo ( for 6K) BMP (6K) and , Canon C70, but am lost because I have no hands on experience of these to know if there is one that I could safely buy and know I could build with . Any thoughts? Thank you in advance.

    Does then Ninja V save power state when powered through Z CAM E2-F6ʻs auxiliary power port? It shuts off when the camera shuts off, but does it power on when the camera powers on?

    Really like the rig. How is the Z cam performance for the f 6 just curious because I was looking to purchase one but I mostly use Raw when recording

  • @JeromeBohman

    A bit off topic here but was curious if the Zhiyun crane 3S smart handle works with the ZCam E2 series or if I should skip the smart handle and just go with the version that doesn’t have the smart handle and save money?

    Thanks Tom another valuable informative video. The CameTV Follow Focus looks great and not overly pricey. Have you used it with the Sirui Anamorphic lenses or any of the Meike Cine style prime lenses? Also does the portKeys grip communicate with the CameTV Follow Focus as it does with the Tilta Nano?

      I have not tried the grip with this follow focus. I'll reach out to the company and see if there is a way to set that up. Thnx for the idea!

    Thank you very much! I have a question: "which monitor from your point of view is more convenient and useful for Z Cams - Ninja V or PortKeys?". Prores RAW is not the main reason for me, I would say the latency, exposure tools, focus peaking, vectorscope, and other stuff is more reasonable. I plan to use Z Cam S6 and record internally on a CFast card. And a second question: "what you think about ZCam app (especially for Android)? is it reasonable to use Andriod tablet instead of monitor?"
    Thank you in advance!

    • @TomAntos
      @TomAntos  4 года назад +1

      If you dont care about pro res RAW then the PortKeys might be a better option since you can find deals on it but quality wise both monitors are the same.. as far as using a tablet as your monitor it can definitely work if its connected via a cable to the zcam so there is no lag. It will allow you to control the camera easily. But just make sure you get a tablet that has a really good display. The cheap tablets I tried dont compare to the quality you get with the Ninja V or Portkeys monitors.

    Tom, I am trying to decide between the Z CAM F6 or the BMPCC 6K - what would you recommend for a first cinema rig?

    • @tomantos5691
      @tomantos5691 4 года назад +3

      There are too many factors and small differences for me to make that decision for you. Depends on how you plan and like to use the camera. I am working on a comparison of these 2 cameras so perhaps that video will help you

    you're going to break that npf mount off the back. you realize it's plastic, right?

    • @TomAntos
      @TomAntos  4 года назад +1

      Ive used it like this for over a month on various shoots and the mount is still great since the vmount battery i use and the wireless transmitters are light. Also you realize there are various types of plastics. Some are brittle while others are stronger than certain metals. Many guns use plastics for key components and they withstand the constant pressure and abuse of gunfire better than some metals plus they are a lot lighter. For example the Blackmagic Pocket cinema cameras are made from a plastic that uses carbon fibers and is in fact very strong despite the fact that many people initially worried about their durability.

    • @DavinaHader
      @DavinaHader 4 года назад +4

      @@TomAntos Many ZCAM owners that have used extended solutions that clip into the ZCAM battery mount have already had the plastic clips break. Even if accessories are light, as you extend multiple pieces out all on these small plastic clips, due to the physical laws of leverage there will be an extreme amount of force put on the plastic clips and if you accidentally knock the back of the setup they will break.
      A better solution that achieves the same is the Nitze back V-mount attachment. It is aluminum and connects directly to the camera with 4 mounting screws. It is the same length as your setup, but also has the added feature of allowing a small NPF battery to stay attached to the camera and allow hot swapping of the V-Mount batteries. The end has a quick release to un-clip the V-mount system as well, so it's a very flexible system. BTW great video! :)

    • @ExigentFilms
      @ExigentFilms 4 года назад +2

      @@TomAntos Get the Nitze V-mount adapter. More secure at it bolts to the body of the cam, not the weak NPF tabs. Kinson told everyone in the group that the Tilta is not recommended.
