  • Luckily Decompression Sickness in Freediving doesn't happen often but still better to have basic knowledge about it. Few rules to follow
    1. Avoid dehydration, fatigue, and long open-water training sessions
    2. Have proper thermal protection
    3. Limit the amount of deep dives (according to your current level)
    4. Have enough service interval between your dives
    5. Have O2 on the boat or at the dive center if you diving from the shore

If you go into the chamber one time you can go back a second time the reason for asking my baby father go to see and get decompression sickness and I'm going to the chamber one time and the doctor called me a while ago say Emma to go back into the chamber the second time

given a maximum depth, how do you calculate how many is "too many dives" or a 'too long session'?

What I once heard from some experienced freedivers is that when you exceed the total depth of about 200 meters the risk of some kind of dcs may increase. That means max 2 dives close to 100, 5 to 40 ecc. That would be a conservative number if you want to avoid any problem (I guess that number is totally empiric). Common sense is that you should always recover at least 3-5 times the dive time, also according to the depth.
I don't know if this has some scientific background (again: probably not) but it sounds reasonable to me. @crystal_freediving can you relate?

@@marcorombola2365 So what about 64 dives to 3.7 meters with a 1.5-2x SI over a 4.5 hour session, with a total bottom time of 43 minutes. What can I calculate from this?

@@AviRotstein that's about the average day of a shallow water spearfishermen 😂.
As I sayd that number is quite empirical and our body's physiology is far from an exact science. If you pick some more realistic numbers I think it may give you a better idea.

Good question. And unfortunatly no direct answer. General appoach - deep you dive, less dives you have in the single session. Another advice - limit amount of your max dives. I would do only one dive deeper than 45-50 meters per session. If around 40 meters, then 2-3 with long recovery. But there are other approaches as well

No, it is not scientific numbers, pure speculations...You are right about surface interval, but I would reccomend limit deep dives as well to only one. Another question, what is the deep dive....In my opinion deeper than 50.
