Laura Nyro was the epitome of artistry. She was unique, yet familiar in her music. I am an aficionado of Laura’s music..I raised my daughters on her music always playing in the background of our lives. We are working on a record to do, as Billy Childs did, a reimagining of some of her songs. It is a project filled with love and admiration for this magnificent soul who gave us such a stunning body of work. Your music lives on Laura..and we are in deep gratitude that you shared it with the world.🙏🏽
There were three truly great female singer/songwriters of the late 60's/early 70's: Carole King; Joni Mitchell; and Laura Nyro. For various reasons, unlike the other two, Laura never quite received the full acclaim that her indisputable genius should have garnered. But for those who are aware of her prodigious and stellar output, Laura was a visitation that seldom appears on this earth.
The first time I heard Laura sing was only a few years ago. I felt this overwhelming sense of sadness come over me like never before. Sad because I missed her and that she was gone. Her music cuts rite to the bone and her honesty is rare.💔
I'd sure love to see this whole show. Both women are excellent interpreters of Laura's music, and hearing her brother sing Billie's Blues was so moving. He has a fine voice, as well. I saw Laura for the first time at Carnegie Hall soon after "Eli" came out. It was like a religious experience. Laura always sang from deep in her soul. "She got the way to move me"
Have always known of Laura but never really listened to her until this month, January 2021. I am now aged 75 and I have been listening over and over again this month to everything that’s available. I only ever did that with Ray Charles and Mingus and Monk in the 60’s. Then Ravel, Stravinsky and Bartok in the 70’s. Her astonishing music and her delivery and musicianship and the wild abandon when she sings , is a gift for me at this late stage in my life. She has reached the very innermost depths of my being, 24 years after leaving this world so tragically. I just hope she didn’t suffer too much at the end. Thank you x
As a singer in the 60s and 70s, I listened to and sang everyone's songs, but I always knew that Laura Nyro was special beyond compare. Thank you for this, especially to her brother and also to the 2 lovely ladies as well!
I've seen Laura Nyro many times in an around NYC in the early 70s. She typically performed Christmas Eve at Carnegie Hall and those concerts were always magical. She is greatly missed.
This video just came up on my playlist they all knew I am a fan of Laura Nyro so glad I watched this woman portraying Laura Nyro is incredible. I hope someday they make a film about Laura Nyro and how she became fascinated with music and wanting to be a star
If I will ever start collecting lp.vynyl records again , my first ten albums that i will.buy n seek is laura nyros lp. The most neglected n.unrespected singer composer . Rock n roll judges lack 100per cent wisdom!!!!they only recognize lauras talent due to pressure from us worldwide admirers. I am raffy villanueva from a third world country named manila philippines. I am so sad lauras vynyl lp was never played on the radio during the 1960s n seventies in d philippines. Only pilipino record collectors residing n working in usa knows n admire n respect her!!!! Thank you you tube for featuring laura nyro!!! her admirers swelled to millions worldwide even in china n russia now appreciates her!!!! How sad to the injustice done to my heroine laura!!!! I wept when I discovered this major injustice!!!
I like the real life in her song Blackpatch. Todd Rundgren had a thing for Laura. He had his manager set up a meeting and he was amazed to find a "gypsy" with fingernails so long that they clinked the keys. He was amazed that it didn't carry. 😂
I've seen Christine perform several times, very talented, warm and vivacious, always a great performer. Outstanding musical taste and passion. Gave me a much greater appreciation for Laura Nyro.
I wonder why there's not much footage of Laura - she's so captivating. "New York Tendaberry", "Eli and the Thirteenth Confession", "Smile", "Christmas and the Beads of Sweat" are awesome.
One would think that within the passed few years, at least, her name would be on more people's lips these days. A unique individual talent breaking out artistically at such a young age with material that is still original and vital! I once read that Cameron Crowe was considering doing a bio pic on Laura. There was a long, promised documentary frequently mentioned on Lauras' website. Whatever happened to that? Aside from her induction into the Rock 'n Roll Hall of Fame and a small theatrical tribute, her legacy has been ill-served compared to others of lesser talent.
Patti LaBelle was one of her best friends. When Laura wanted to record an album of Soul Covers she asked Patti, Sarah Dash and Nona Hendryx to sing background on the album. A documentary and a film is long overdue

Laura Nyro, was a genius. She validated so many women's lives in the 60s and 70s. She was more than real.
So wonderful to see these women and men (jan) who cover her work here.
Brilliant songwriter and enchanting performer.
My wife and I were fortunate to see Laura perform at a small venue in Cambridge, MA in the 1980s

This is so beautifully written and so ACCURATE. I agree 1000%!
Conocí de Laura Nyro por Thrwe dog night y Elis Coming. It's really great!
There were more than just those three (Bobbie Gentry, Jackie DeShannon for example), but the three you mentioned were great indeed.

I recommend listening to the albums in chronological order
Hi, me too. I’m 60 and just discovered her now I’m listening to nothing else!
We need a documentary of Laura!!! 🙏🏻
Incredible, as she was. Where is the full length version of this? We all NEED it!

She was a force of nature..you guys are doing a great job of paying tribute to her.
I saw her many times. God blessed us with her voice and talent.
There will never be another like her.
I've just discovered this! We need a documentary, a movie and TV series about her, please! This is awesome!!!

Brilliant woman of it all.
Lovely to see this...Laura's brother sings beautifully too
Laura's brother's voice is quite good!

Please let's have another Laura Nyro celebration here in Los Angeles. Please! thank you

I wonder why there's not much footage of Laura - she's so captivating. "New York Tendaberry", "Eli and the Thirteenth Confession", "Smile", "Christmas and the Beads of Sweat" are awesome.
TV, Broadway and Hollywood all wanted her, but she turned them all down. She was an intensely private person and also very shy.
On a rainy night, a little herb, lights out, headphones on, and New York Tendaberry....
Or Smile or Eli/13th Confession or Christmas/Sweat or Mother Spiritual or Nested or Seasons ❤️
you look like a city
but you feel like religion
So agree … powerful music ❤️🔥❤️🔥
What a teaser! This should be longer - lots longer.
When is the full film coming out? Can't wait to see it...
"Waves of
soul". Right!!
WELL, I want to SEE the Documentary!!!! WHERE is it????
Where is the full concert ?
Love her
I love you Christine xoxo
Check out Carla Fuchs singin' Laura Nyro!
Okay, well, where is the rest of this program? All I'm seeing is this trailer.

Rest in Peace Laura, I'd forgotten you for almost 40 years, now it's a pleasure to remember you.
