I have a strange question that I can't find an answer for. I want to start a podcast where i discuss my favorite albums from different genres. I know I can't play actual music from the albums without licensing permission, but am I able to even discuss particular albums without licensing permission? For example I want to do a podcast about, say, the album 'Back In Black' by AC/DC. Am I legally allowed to speak in depth about the album, its production, the band members, which songs i love, etc... without licensing permission? I don't want to get sued by my favorite artists just for talking about them.
information about bands and artists are NOT copyrighted, however make sure that you have appropiate sources if you wish discuss possibly controversial information and may get a "cease" notice from an attorney but as long as you are not playing 'licensed content" you should be fine
