@@Morighan008 I think it works better too. I also think it works better for under boob sweat. If you put a little on like baby powder before you put on your bra it's pretty good about helping to absorb the moisture from your sweat keeping you dry longer on hot days. Cornstarch is your friend lol.
@AstroMartine put it in your hands a little at a time. Kind of lightly tap/rub your hands together to spread out the starch. Bend over and flip your hair upside down. Then rub the product through your hair. If you do a little at a time and apply it about 3-4 times then run your hands briskly through your hair like finger combing while still flipped over until powder stops falling out of your hair. Just use cornstarch. I don't use dry shampoo. I tried it while camping for a week in the mountains and hated it. I remember cornstarch being used for all kinds of things. I listened as a kid to my elders. Ponds is great for cleaning makeup off your face and then use witch hazel as an astringent. Crisco is good for severly dry skin. Wait, I never used it _because_ I’m black 😂😂 I thought dry shampoo just worked better on…not my hair and, like, it doesn’t actually do anything beneficial lmao The way someone told me about it, it works kinda like putting on deodorant but not bathing beforehand; you’re still stinky, you’re just covering it up temporarily. Now I might have to actually try it. What’s a good brand
dry shampoo is an absolute blessing if you're really late and can't wash your hair. doesn't always look perfect but with some brushing it works wonders. you can also make a homemade version i think; i used to use corn starch on occasion if i was out and my hair wasn't extremely dirty / just had gotten flat and i didn't have anything else. such a lifesaver in college though. waking up with half my hair greasy because it touched my face in my sleep sucked for me
FYI, talc is related to certain cancers!! My coworker taught me (a brunette) to scrub coffee grounds (dry ones) into my scalp and roots, and omg it works amazingly! Definitely messy and time-consuming, though. But it’s great for anyone who wants a “natural” or non-aerosolized version of dry shampoo, and for brunettes and dirty blondes.
It’s important to note, the models have bangs or face-framing pieces that are thinner, making it look more oily due to the length of those pieces…so the dry-shampoo will look like it helps dramatically because those pieces will visibly absorb more than the rest of the head with longer hair. It didn’t look as dramatic because she didn’t have those other shorter pieces.
it’s hairspray. they spray it on their hair to make it look oily when in reality it’s actually super shiny and hard but appears oily and greasy. that’s why when they brush it out it gets fluffy again
You can see at the roots of her hair, it lays down flat and has no volume before she uses the product. After usage, her part fluffed about three inches. It does not matter the length of the hair, please don't be ridiculous. It removed a lot of oils from her hair and volumized it, it works
It totally works! We’ve used it for years in healthcare for people that are bed bound or cannot easily shower. ❤ the “shampoo” has components in it that absorb all the oil (along w/ the dirt the oil hangs onto), then you simply brush it out.
@@jasperpretzle It does work but is not a long term solution. It’s great when recovering from surgery! Now, if your hair is super dirty w/ blood in it… that will require a good washing. As far as a quick fix when you woke up late & are in a rush it’s s life saver!
Editorial stylist here.. Dry shampoo is wonderful for volume once in a while. DO NOT use it daily, especially if you only wash your hair once a week or less. It will suffocate the hair follicle and slowly make your hair thin and fall out. You have to double wash with a good sulfate free salon shampoo every time you use a dry shampoo to get all of it off the scalp!!! Same as hair growth oils. Great for a few hours BUT need washed out daily with gentle sulfate free salon quality shampoo to help your hair follicles stay healthy and happy!
Thank you for sharing this. I was suspicious my recent hair fall was because of using a lot of dry shampoo for 2 days straight at a time. I'm going to use less for a month and see what happens.
When you say "hair growth oil" do you mean rosemary oil? I'm using that daily to help encourage regrowth after a bout of hair loss caused by menopause. But I don't want to wash my hair daily. I only wash my hair twice a week. Is that a problem with that type of oil?
That's crazy. As a Black woman I dread dry hair. My hair needs all sorts of oil and moisturizer😂😂😂. If I let my hair go a week with washing it everyday my hair would be upset of all the oil stripping. It's amazing how much difference our hair is. I love learning about all hair types. It's not enough to just know your own hair. Interesting
I'm white and blonde and on the 2nd day of not washing it it's already yucky. I wish I could go 1 week without washing it and still looking fresh. Can't we all just have a midpoint please😭😭
I LOVE black womens hair I'm super jealous 😍😍 The way your hair does soo many things like the twists then the next day box braids then maybe a wig dreads plats and so on. White hair depending won't even stay in a braid. I have a weird type hair it's frizzy and kinda curly it knots all the time but I wait until my hair is starting to feel oily to wash it so maybe once a week I'll wash my hair it's actually bad to wash it too much bc the shampoos strip all the natural moisture out. Then I straighten it and then it's smooth and silky easy to deal w hardly knots or anything. Makes no sense to me. I have a niece who has beautiful biracial babies and their hair is completely opposite from one another. I have to say I've learned a lot about taking care of different hair textures from those wee ones I had no clue either haha I didn't know about all the products you have to use types of brushes even and just how important shrinkage is baby haha
ikr! I watched a lot of videos of bleck women taking care of their hair bc i was so fascinated. On one hand you dont' have to shampoo her every other day, but on the other it looks like so much work just to shampoo e moisturise. Amazing!
Anyone who has used dry shampoo before knows that most of them leave white in your hair and they can also leave your hair feeling stiff and/or powdery. Not ideal at best. This one does not appear to do that. Some of you on the internet are just insanely negative lmao
I have my hair long and thick because of the advice of my grandmother: 1. Applying oil 2/3 times a week by using the up-down method and massaging for ten minutes with liitlleextra cocooniion hair oil. 2. Monthly hair trims. 3. Rinsing with luke warm water to make the oils in the hair softer.
I have been using littllextra cocooniion oil, shampoo for a while now. My hair loss has definitely decreased, though it required a bit of time to see results.
All dry shampoo works like this. Not only dry shampoo but also talcum powder, corn starch, even loose face powder in the right shade works. Just make sure to brush or gently rub your scalp and hair thoroughly to make sure it gets distributed correctly so you can’t see the powder.
Talc is your friend if you have lighter to medium coloured hair, nothing works as well for me and my hair is usually already greasy by day 3. It works especially well if you use it the night before your hair looks greasy so I use it night 2 and 3 and then wash it the next day so I am not washing out my hair dye. I just want to see these people an hour later because with every dry shampoo spray I have used it after 15 minutes my hair looks greasy again.
Living Proof makes an awesome dry shampoo. It’s actually less expensive than the cheaper stuff from the drugstore because the can lasts 10 times as long. It smells so good too. Alternatively you can use plain cornstarch and a huge fluffy powder makeup brush to apply it. Brush through your hair and let it sit for a few minutes, and then just go to shake it out a little. You can spray perfume into the air then shake your head around in the mist. It’s almost the same result as the Living Proof but far less expensive. It just takes a bit longer.
@@Val-vg6df No, it actually isn't lmao. Terrible hair is unhealthy hair. For the people who don’t know what the hell just happened, well basically the stuff that sprayed out reacted with the oil on your hair and took the oil off. But please don’t just buy it and never wash your hair again, using it too much is obviously bad for your hair
I don’t think that they were saying that _this_ particular product was shady, just that TikTok is flooded with shady products that make dubious claims.
Oh then stop showering so much. Your scalp is over producing because it’s trying to keep up with you stripping away all the oil from showering every day. I know it sucks to go with oily hair, but try to delay it by a day and after a week or two, add another extra day in there and work up to only washing your hair once every 5-7 days. You’ll have the same results as her then.
I was the same like you girls but i kinda let my hair get into shampoo rehab. Turns out to much shampoo makes oily so we keep washing our hair! Smart move from marketing with the daily shampoos. How did i let my hair rehab? On home days i let it be oily and stretch the days between washing bit by bit. Also washing with only water rinses out a lot aswell. When i talk about washing now i mean with shampoo but back them even only water washing helped to stretch it one more day
i did this before until i actually dealt with this in detail and found out that you should wash out your dry shampoo the same day you use it and therefore you are not supposed to put it in before bed. it might actually damage and dry out your scalp

@@just_.b. of course. No product works for every person. I never implied it did. I just think getting all worked up about a dry shampoo was just a bit too dramatic... In MY opinion. That's all. You should hold it 8-10 inches from scalp. I actually use it after I wash my hair and dry it. My hair doesn’t look greasy until the 4th day. I also let it sit for 10 minutes to absorb before I brush it out. I use it after I dry my hair because it gives me tones of volume and I have fine hair.
You’re over washing your hair you’ve trained your scalp to produce oil at a much more rapid rate than it was supposed to… think about it when you strip all the oils off of your skin what does it do? it goes into overdrive trying to replace the oil your skin once had thus causing over production of oil 💯 it takes some time but you can retrain your skin. I’ve done it and it was annoying to keep not washing my hair when I felt so oily but has been worth it for the results.. start small - go as long as you can without washing your hair then once you wash it, push the shampoo n between time out another day… then keep going until you’re at the two week mark or as far out as you can get it😅 I promise it works I’ve got mine trained to about a week - week and a half now ❤
I have really thick but shiny, not fluffy hair. I never have trouble brushing it. As long as you are using the right brush and start from the bottom up, you shouldn't have any issues.
When you pulled your hair back at the end you could really tell it worked🙌 with dark hair you can always tell when I haven’t washed it when I try to wear it up😂
dry shampoo is literally just dry starch that absorbs water and oil you brush away. also it has been around for 10 years + on the consumer market and many more if you looked for it. It also dries up your scalp and make white flakes if you apply too much, esp for this length of hair. There are also no-wash shampoo foam/mousse that work better
Thank you! I was trying to find out what the down falls were. Nothing’s perfect and I’m glad I found this because I can’t afford anymore problems or I’m definitely going to go bald 👨🦲 🤦♀️
then you need to stop washing it every day. washing your hair too much can throw off your scalp's microbiome, which can let bad bacteria and fungi take over and cause things like inflammation, it basically strips the hair so your scalp then over produces the oils.
My son had the same issue and just pushed through starting every other day then skipping 2 days. He was making extra oils because he was washing it too much . Just something to think about!
Just be prepared to need to shower the next day. Dry shampoo typically makes your hair look and feel even worse the next day. But, if you've got long hair and you must be somewhere in a hurry then it can be an absolute life saver.
It definitely seems to depend on which dry shampoo you're using. I tried several brands, and only one really does a good job without leaving my hair feeling sticky and gross which is Batista. I've also mixed up my own which works in a pinch, but I don't love the method of application with that. Anyway, dry shampoo actually does work to clean the hair. The powder binds to grease, dead skin, and dirt which you then brush out. It's very common in arid areas to clean with sand versus wasting water that is in precious supply.
Same, some do a good or not so good job based on different hair types but I literally know for myself 4 different brands who work the same. People go viral over everything these days
Try cleaning your brush. They catch a lot of oils and after some time will redistribute the oils back into your hair and makes dry shampoos cease to work. Just cleaned mine and it helped a lot.
Try spraying the dry shampoo in your hair on day 2 hair before it even gets oily. Or even day 1. Dry shampoo was originally designed to use on clean hair to prevent oil before its there. You get light weight longivity
I use it the night before my hair gets oily and let my movement during sleep work it in. If I apply dry shampoo to greasy hair, it just clumps up. Applying it to clean hair prevents the grease
This! And I actually spent months "training" it to last longer, ie going a week or longer between washes. I literally managed to go from 2 days to 3 days before it is just nasty oily mess 😢
A word of caution: a lot of dry shampoos (as well as some sunscreens, antiperspirants, and hand sanitizers) have ingredients that cause cancer (specifically benzene and possibly talcum powder, which has asbestos?) and breathing them excessively in the enclosed space of your bathroom never helps. (It can also cause other issues like hair loss by clogging hair follicles.) Be careful and stay safe ❤ Edit: Yeah having it on your scalp is also bad, and there are probably brands that don't use those specific ingredients, but that's research for y'all to do. Once again, be careful and stay safe Second Edit: All info in (parentheses) is from the replies. Thank y'all for the specifics :)
I love that we’re moving more towards washing our hair less and not shaming people or calling them dirty if you don’t wash it everyday. I hated that, as someone with thick curly hair. You were always made to feel like it was Gros if you went more than 2 days without washing it. I’m glad people are waking up now to the benefits of washing your hair less and letting it be.
I’m so lazy, especially with the summer coming, I’ll wash my hair once a week, and stretch it more if possible. If I don’t sweat, and wear it up, it’s not even noticeable.
I got that thick hair as well & I wash it once a week. Save shampoo & keep the natural oils in the hair (not over oily) my poor kid though hers gets oily the next day after wash so I was like dry shampoo here we come, lol
I agree and disagree... different hair types will require washing after a different amount of time. Once it gets greasy like that you need to wash your scalp, adding more product is only increase clogging of your roots wich may lead to hair loss. People who need to wash their hair daily are probably not properly cleaning their scalp, you gotta really get there and scrub scrub scrub. Like they would do in a salon. Dry shampoo can be a life saver on an emergency but I'd be weary of using it regularly between washes.
I have curly hair and I go At least a week sometimes too because my hair is dry so if I don't go that long it gets even drier and becomes more brittle. Now that I've moved to a drier climate I wash it even less. I don't usually have an oily hair problem but when I have, I've just used baby powder and gotten the exact same effect.
Honestly most dollar tree dry shampoos will work good like this. Some leave white marks but you can just brush them out or move the can farther away and make sure not to focus it on one area for too long
it's not common where i live 🥹 it's a common practice to believe that showering/washing hair more = better hair better life so most people just take showers in the morning and evenings with no need for dry shampoo. also attributed to scorching weather

That defeats the purpose of skipping days of shampoo, because then your hair will create more oil. You have to train your hair, and eventually you can go closer to a week without shampoo. -Day 3 I rinse my hair thoroughly with water only -day 4 is maybe a tiny tiny bit of shampoo only on the roots. (Seriously, not even enough for bubbles to form) -avoiding conditioner (once a week of you insist) -using a boar bristle brush to distribute oil in your roots to your mids and ends -wearing your hair up or half up to conceal the oil. Using the boar brush also makes the pony super even and smooth -your hair will feel thicker and softer if you have thin hair -avoid touching your hair and face -be gentle with wet hair, it's fragile. No towel wraps or updo's -obviously it doesn't work for all hair types, and it takes time.
As astronaut said above, you need to train your scalp to decrease its oil production. We strip our scalp of its natural oils (that we really need) when we shampoo and so our scalp then "defends" itself and creates even more oils to protect itself from damage. Look into it. It's really fascinating. Good luck! 💙

This is exactly why there’s cornstarch in my bathroom. I actually find that it works better than most dry shampoos that I’ve tried.
@@Morighan008 I think it works better too. I also think it works better for under boob sweat. If you put a little on like baby powder before you put on your bra it's pretty good about helping to absorb the moisture from your sweat keeping you dry longer on hot days. Cornstarch is your friend lol.
It gets in my eyes and dries my eyeballs...but then, so do dry shampoos, to a lesser extent
Flip it back over and off needed brush Amy powder you can see out worth a brush or even a wide tooth comb. It will give your hair volume too.
Also if you have dark hair, you can mix cocoa powder or activated charcoal with the cornstarch to make it match your hair color

dry shampoo is an absolute blessing if you're really late and can't wash your hair. doesn't always look perfect but with some brushing it works wonders. you can also make a homemade version i think; i used to use corn starch on occasion if i was out and my hair wasn't extremely dirty / just had gotten flat and i didn't have anything else.

It totally works! We’ve used it for years in healthcare for people that are bed bound or cannot easily shower. ❤ the “shampoo” has components in it that absorb all the oil (along w/ the dirt the oil hangs onto), then you simply brush it out.
Wait so is it actually an alternative for washing? I thought it just visually covers the grease? :0
@@jasperpretzle It does work but is not a long term solution. It’s great when recovering from surgery! Now, if your hair is super dirty w/ blood in it… that will require a good washing. As far as a quick fix when you woke up late & are in a rush it’s s life saver!
You know how BAD dry shampoo actually is for you, like cancerous. Do not use it long term
It can also strip the oils too much and make it all dry and flaky
Oh my god thank you for sharing this I never knew that.
You can use sulphates too if they work for ur hair type, sulphates are not always the enemy

Ooo it's so fun watching you brush your hair!!! ❤️

This is how my hair is and most dry shampoos don’t help and just make it more dirty haha
I wonder if it's more of a liquid because regular dry shampoo is a spray on powder that you have to wash out
Do you brush it out?😅

A word of caution: a lot of dry shampoos (as well as some sunscreens, antiperspirants, and hand sanitizers) have ingredients that cause cancer (specifically benzene and possibly talcum powder, which has asbestos?) and breathing them excessively in the enclosed space of your bathroom never helps. (It can also cause other issues like hair loss by clogging hair follicles.) Be careful and stay safe ❤

Some leave white marks but you can just brush them out or move the can farther away and make sure not to focus it on one area for too long
Yeah I’m confused isn’t that what dry shampoo is meant to do?
@E O it's like she's never used a dry shampoo before.

it's not common where i live 🥹 it's a common practice to believe that showering/washing hair more = better hair better life so most people just take showers in the morning and evenings with no need for dry shampoo. also attributed to scorching weather
usually u have to wait like 10 minutes before washing it out
What......I need to try this. I HATE dry shampoo too. I've never had luck with them in the past.
Try dove dry shampoo. It’s amazing and it doesn’t leave any powdery stuff in your hair.
The drugstore ones just don't perform. I use the super dry shampoo by Ouai and one can lasts me 5x longer bc I don't even need to use that much

nope
My dry shampoo is literal dog water
@Libby Schofield well you shouldn't use dog bowl water as dry shampoo then 😅
I was hoping that someone said this 👏🏼
Literally. Yes some work better than others. But this is THE POINT of dry shampoo
Kids born after 2000 forget the 1900’s existed and things were created during that time.
Yes. All dry shampoo does this. It’s literally the only job for a dry shampoo. To un oil your hair hahahah
Not true tons of dry shampoos from Walmart don’t work
The batiste brand and not your mothers dry shampoo work well for me and I get them at Walmart.
Omg this is what i was thinking, im like yep thats why i use it daily and can go weeks without washing my hair... so ya dry shampoo bein dry shampoo😂 this is how its supposed to work yall. Its a blessing for those caring for late stage alzheimer's disease. Most become so scarred of water, its a fight to try an bath them.
Why do people with Alzheimer’s get scared of water?
@@shanellemurrey9300 because Alzheimers is a form of dementia. Persons with dementia become confused/easily agitated, things like brushing teeth, bathing, combing hair become uncomfortable or bothersome for some of them.
@@shanellemurrey9300 no one quite knows, Water seems to activate the fight or flight instinct. some speculate that an older part of the brain in charge of preservation, may become active as the other parts loose communication. we aren't advanced enough to know for sure.
Thank you both, that’s interesting 👍
Most? No. All sorts can make an Alzheimer's patient uncomfortable, and of course water would be on the very long list of common materias/items/producs, etc, but to say "most" is inaccurate. This isn't just based on my personal experience. It's just a small detail, I suppose, but it could serve to enhance such occasions if those around the said patients consider water as particular terrible. If people are concerned about water in particular, it's easy to feed off the discomfort and cause problems to become exacerbated, etc.
YOUR HAIR IS SO LONG AND GORGEOUS OH MY GOSH

That hair is gorgeous. Just... wow! Cool factoid about dry shampoo too.
I used to look after an old lady who did this daily and only washed her hair occasionally, when the hair dresser visited. This stuff does work.
This isn't true, people who use dry shampoo regularly get product buildup on their scalp, and their hair doesn't gain length or stay healthy.

My hair looks oilier after three days of not washing it. I really need this
Same!
It will work, but its not good to use it as a routine, rather when u need it urgently for some reason ( it’s more like emergency help)
That defeats the purpose of skipping days of shampoo, because then your hair will create more oil. You have to train your hair, and eventually you can go closer to a week without shampoo.
-Day 3 I rinse my hair thoroughly with water only
-day 4 is maybe a tiny tiny bit of shampoo only on the roots. (Seriously, not even enough for bubbles to form)
-avoiding conditioner (once a week of you insist)
-using a boar bristle brush to distribute oil in your roots to your mids and ends
-wearing your hair up or half up to conceal the oil. Using the boar brush also makes the pony super even and smooth
-your hair will feel thicker and softer if you have thin hair
-avoid touching your hair and face
-be gentle with wet hair, it's fragile. No towel wraps or updo's
-obviously it doesn't work for all hair types, and it takes time.
As astronaut said above, you need to train your scalp to decrease its oil production. We strip our scalp of its natural oils (that we really need) when we shampoo and so our scalp then "defends" itself and creates even more oils to protect itself from damage. Look into it. It's really fascinating. Good luck! 💙

@@scarlettox rapunzel's hair length is not humanly possible, so ig this is close enough
Love dry shampoo. I have really oily hair so I use it to extend my hairs life by a day or two. The trick for me is putting it on the night before it’s gonna get oily, works better and my hair lasts 3 days over 2.
How does your scalp feel? I have oily hair and my scalp gets awful, feels itchy. But I hate washing it everyday because then I get a dry scalp.
Be careful tho! You’re supposed to wash your hair the day you apply any products like dry shampoo or hair spray, otherwise you risk that you pores get clogged at it actually increases oil production
@@lucypeace6132 when i use dry shampoo i typically use it the day before wash day just to extend it and for some reason my scalp feels really sore afterwards like it lowkey hurts to wash and i need to scrub gently
@@lucypeace6132dry shampoo also makes your scalp just as dry tho. It’s moisture absorbing powder and it’s not any better than just washing it. It might not affect the length of the hair but it’ll mess up your scalp and could lead to even oilier hair. Dry shampoo works but as someone who has dry skin (but also rly oily hair) I notice that the dry shampoo makes dandruff so much worse and makes it oilier faster.
You wash your hair waaaaay too often!
I'm so jealous of how thick your hair is at that length! Mine would always thin out towards the bottom when it was that long. Definitely following.

Please don’t use dry shampoos if you can avoid it guys. It’s really bad for your scalp, it dries you skin and will result in your hair getting greasier faster.
What Bout baby powder that's not talc? Does it still damage follicles etc?
@@cardinalrule6018 not really. I used it couple of times in 2020 and 2021 for my long hair. Its worth it
@xSoulhunterDKx nice. I currently use baby powder very regularly bc my scalp is extremely oily. It honestly seems to make my scalp healthier. No greasy head sores, lol. I hope I'm not the only gross bih that's experienced scalp sores, guh. It's fairly embarrassing but I'm a dirt bag. I like it that way.
@@cardinalrule6018 omg I experience that too! You are not alone lol
I love using the cornstarch baby powder. No weird chemical smell or residue like dry shampoo. I sprinkle it on my hands, rub them together so it’s just a thin coating on my fingertips, flip my head over, and work it into my roots. However, I do have dark brown hair, so I have to rub it in well, and then brush it through fairly well. If I do it at night on freshly washed hair before bed, day 2 will look like day 1.
My grandmother used to use dry shampoo in the 90s when limited mobility made washing her hair differcult, it definitely works .

@Alisha Lloyd What's that got to do with anything?
Yeah if you want volume, & you don’t have it naturally, then the dry shampoo does beat it.
Flour and cornstarch do the same for pretty much free. Run them through a sieve to remove any lumps, and shake away! Brush out thoroughly to prevent any dusty look. 👍🏻💕

I dunno. I haven't found one that works yet. Pantene was the best one I've tried, but even that one made my hair look better for maybe 20 minutes then it's dirtier-looking (and feeling) than it was before I dry shampooed. Admittedly, I have only bought cheaper brands, but still... And no one ever seems to talk about all the White fuzz some brands leave in your hair. As a person with super-dark hair, that also adds to how dirty dry shampoo makes my hair look and feel. I don't care for the heavy perfume scent most have either.
@@melonballer8475 for me “batiste” is a good one, I'm using it for many years.
