They don't understand that hoarding is a symptom of underlying issues and can even have a genetic cause . Chromosome 17 deletion. Other issues like OCD and anxiety too. It's a huge mistake to think just clearing out will solve the problem long term.
Absolutely. I’m currently listening to the show devoting more time on the history of that radio than the underlying phycological component of why they’re there to “help” in the first place. This show is awful!
The interior is very dark. It seems like the rooms have shrunken. Tops of the pops is the dead cow skin carpet. I feel sorry for the couple, for both of them. And I hope Amie found the help she really needed to solve her shopping problem.
As a tall person, I would feel very claustrophobic in that house with the low ceilings and doorways. And the redesigned home is a disappointment. I doubt if the young woman is able to stop her hoarding of expensive fashions. I don’t have high hopes for the marriage.
26:33 she doesn't need to learn to let go that needs therapy! And Amy's attitude and patience is really impressive throughout this whole awful experience anyway
People who love clothes … our wardrobes mean so much to us. What we choose wear is a big part of our personal expression. I felt terrible for Amie as she had to pare down her collection by 90%. Then that so-called designer went and painted their formerly bright cheery house into “makes me want to slit my wrists dark gray, sort of blueish gray and allegedly lilac gray”. And then she painted over some of Amie’s former shoes apparently, as an “art installation”/torturing reminder of all her pretty things that she was pressured into selling cheap to PAY that obnoxious lady to ruin their house!? Through it all this sweet girl was so brave and tried to roll with it. Betcha front room was have been repainted before the show even aired! Another commenter said that they had celebrated their 10th anniversary and have three children, so I hope the experience of participating in this show is just a distant memory to them now.
At the end of the show, they said that 2 months later, everything was kept up & still clutter free, & the biggest thing Amie had bought was a wedding dress. I pray this couple continues to do well & has a very happy future!
Why Do they even have to redesign the house? Isn't the Wedding more important? Oh and why the Tattoo with the date? Things can happen and dates can change 😅
Show has good intentions but they needed to have the support of the people they are helping. Also why is the designer not listening to the couple. They have said they didn't like the colours or look suggested but they did it anyway.
The Bride is paying to have the house redo, is it a rental? What is the groom paying for? These makeovers are not a good use of the money. As many have said, the decorator doesn't listen to the couple. I would never hire a (so-called) pro decorator, they spend money like water.
Who is the designer ? My neighbours hide away that she did up in her families crawl space resembles the hoarders new lounge / livingroom. She was 14, it was dark with house hold throw backs not unlike the redo. Should have saved there new found cash and did it themselves. Even the refurbished fireplace looks unfinished, looks like primer. Did not know that flat white is the in thing. LOL. She may have temporarily given up excessive shopping, given the redo she may start drinking.
there was another show about shopping addiction that was so much better than this, they had an actual therapist to get to the root of issue. Also the designer is so rude!
What a hideous red chair ! Sad she never was able to work through the reasons she collected all this stuff She needs help Getting rid of stuff is only a temporary solution Hope her journey was successful Personally I found their place claustrophobic and did not like it at all after the redecorating!
I am sorry but the house screams Victorian!!! Especially the fireplace. Why do today's designers not understand this concept. The Edward's and Victorian periods had elegance!!! Today's modern style minimalist furniture, fabrics and accessories are cheap, colorless and lacking in any beauty. Not only in the UK but in cities like San Francisco which boasts some elegant Victorian buildings. Today's modern look looks like Trash
Worst redesign ever. What was she thinking doing it up like a dungeon with those dark colors in rooms that are so claustrophobic already with those horrible low ceilings. Awful.
Why redesign the house when Amie said they need money for the wedding? Why not put the money into this and let them do whatever they want with their home decor? And in the end their house looks like a dungeon.
Everything I've seen this designer do was so bloody dark and depressing, and that's coming from someone with fairly goth tastes. Every redo she makes the homes into caves.
Oh she's rude that "designer" woman , calling Amiee miss .... Her statement about believing spaces effect behaviour is correct. And she's pretentious. Why does this Abby woman never listen if she came in and did this in my life it would destroy my relationship. If he turns into a control freak or . How can Amiee cope with this I can't even watch till the end .

So is he. I hope they're happy together since then, and I hope she's overcome her shopperholic/hoarding issues
I can't watch any more. No one is helping her at all. There is no understanding!!! They are browbeating her. She will go back , no question, because her deep needs are not being met.
That is exactly how,I felt. her bf was more concerned about what he wanted and no one really consulted Amy. She was happyselling, but I wish, she had been able to have kept her own money or at least designed her home the way she wanted. Her BF didnt out any of his money into anything. i dont think they will get married,or stay together if they do.
I think sometimes the designers just want to experiment and do designs they like. They don't care if it fits the home or customer's style. Painting tiny rooms so dark, including the ceiling..? 😳
Somehow people don't seem to associate frivolous purchases to hours worked to enable it. Only when you get older and time becomes a precious and dwindling commodity does this kind of consumerism become obscene.
I personally would have done white through the place with art and comfort pieces with pops of color that amy is attracted to. Put the money into therapy individual and couples therapy. A photo of the pile is a better reminder. I hope they are well a decade later

She needs support to help her deal with her clothing and shopping addiction. Is a renovated house, without addiction therapy going to change her behaviour? When did BULLYING become a treatment!!! OMG OMG OMG I am disgusted by this approach. Was there any follow-up to this episode?
Cheap ceramics, painted shoes, a cow on the floor - it's all so abusive! Poor girl will have to visit a therapist for a long time after decluttering like that

the money goes to the designer 🙄 what's the point of that! their getting married and stated they need money for the wedding. I'm 12 minutes in and I can see now why I don't like that designer 😒
That interior designer would be in a skip. Good grief..gentlemen's drinking club. Are you kidding? Hoard is better.
This show is awful!
lol, he "doesn't see a future" except he has his future wedding date boldly tattood on his arm!
Thank you! One of the crazier things I've ever seen
I noticed that too, he seems a little clueless to me lol. 🤣
@@samanthamarko7845 ikr
lmao so true
2012... I bet they're divorced now
The interior is very dark. It seems like the rooms have shrunken.
Tops of the pops is the dead cow skin carpet.
I feel sorry for the couple, for both of them. And I hope Amie found the help she really needed to solve her shopping problem.
That designer made dark color every episode, i think she needs help
As a tall person, I would feel very claustrophobic in that house with the low ceilings and doorways. And the redesigned home is a disappointment.
I doubt if the young woman is able to stop her hoarding of expensive fashions. I don’t have high hopes for the marriage.
I’m not talk by any stretch of the imagination but I’d feel the same.
That’s is one shocking makeover of their house 🏡 absolutely awful
Such dark colours in the house. Horribly depressing.
26:33 she doesn't need to learn to let go that needs therapy! And Amy's attitude and patience is really impressive throughout this whole awful experience anyway
I feel like I have just witnessed terrible abuse narrated in an upbeat voice.
Yes
This is an older show. I would love to see how they’re doing now. A follow up visit would be interesting to watch.
2/3 of kitchen nightmares places close after the show. You can't change someone with just a show.
At the end of the show, they said that 2 months later, everything was kept up & still clutter free, & the biggest thing Amie had bought was a wedding dress.
I pray this couple continues to do well & has a very happy future!
@@ringoaikocascade it would have been more than 2/3 if those other restaurants weren’t on the show
I had a little look on Facebook and they are still married and have 3 children now
@@joannehetherington3907 If so, they just celebrated their tenth wedding anniversary four days ago.
The redecorated rooms are awful 😭
Indeed
Previously it was chaotic and later dark and dingy. Worst make over.
"I want dark hues" in a space where you can almost bang your head on the ceiling already. Ick.
"Do you want to get married or not?" - this is psychological abuse!
He has narcissistic traits for sure!
True!!!
Yes that irked me a lot
Yeah I think he means do you want your wedding or not and considering the amount of money she's spending, she won't get the wedding she desires.
Why Do they even have to redesign the house? Isn't the Wedding more important?
Oh and why the Tattoo with the date? Things can happen and dates can change 😅
The tattoo is insane!!! Who does that before the event, and SO BIG!
Before purchasing anything, ask yourself, "Do I need this?" If you don't, don't buy it.
Dark colours with low ceilings is not a good look.
Show has good intentions but they needed to have the support of the people they are helping. Also why is the designer not listening to the couple. They have said they didn't like the colours or look suggested but they did it anyway.
Dark colours make rooms look much smaller
The Bride is paying to have the house redo, is it a rental? What is the groom paying for? These makeovers are not a good use of the money. As many have said, the decorator doesn't listen to the couple. I would never hire a (so-called) pro decorator, they spend money like water.
Wedding date tattoo on one arm, divorce date on the other
Hahaaa
I'd rather keep my clothes and say bye bf. House looks bad redone
Exactly 💯
What is that designers obsession with New York ?? Yuk
Shame about the interior designer..............awful
I knew this "make-over" would be hideous when I saw the "designer" painting the shoes white and when the narrator called it a "sculptor." Ugh...
Also the designer is so rude!
she got punished with the "interior design", poor girl... she needs a therapist.
That ceiling is so low. I would feel like a hobbit.
what depressing colours in a small cottage. Worst designer I've ever seen.
Totally the wrong kind of makeover for a small cottage.
What a hideous red chair ! Sad she never was able to work through the reasons she collected all this stuff She needs help Getting rid of stuff is only a temporary solution Hope her journey was successful Personally I found their place claustrophobic and did not like it at all after the redecorating!
I definitely would not have any rooms painted grey
the makeover is so tacky lol it doesn't say "married life" it says "barbie"
I am sorry but the house screams Victorian!!! Especially the fireplace. Why do today's designers not understand this concept. The Edward's and Victorian periods had elegance!!! Today's modern style minimalist furniture, fabrics and accessories are cheap, colorless and lacking in any beauty. Not only in the UK but in cities like San Francisco which boasts some elegant Victorian buildings. Today's modern look looks like Trash
The make over is enough to make you throw up. I would be so mad. She needs therapy for her hoarding and now for the money spent on the make over.
Abbie has given them a disaster, it looks terrible
hate the cow hide rug...
Yes! Loved the makeover except for that ghastly thing on the floor !
Yes me also, bad taste
Yes. It's awful. Looks like Texas. I am also a vegetarian and I would have been appalled. I also think painting those shoes was stupid.
Worst redesign ever. What was she thinking doing it up like a dungeon with those dark colors in rooms that are so claustrophobic already with those horrible low ceilings. Awful.
Don't marry a compulsive shopper. DON'T marry a hoarder.
She is very attractive and seems a very nice girl. I'm not sure if they were too fair with this one.
Why redesign the house when Amie said they need money for the wedding? Why not put the money into this and let them do whatever they want with their home decor? And in the end their house looks like a dungeon.
Abby can stay well away from my house. I’d be spitting nails if she did that to my home, especially if I’d said no.
Everything I've seen this designer do was so bloody dark and depressing, and that's coming from someone with fairly goth tastes. Every redo she makes the homes into caves.
The makeover part isn’t needed, shouldn’t the Money go toward the wedding?
Or a therapist? 😳
Right. The interior designer def'ly has a conflict of interest here and her ideas are strange.
OH MY GOD how hideous is this makeover, I would sue this designer, she needs to get out of that business.
Final.result.. absolutely awful - sorry..
Poor Amy.. and she's such a nice girl
Could see she was really not happy about it..
Hoarding is a mental illness, but I don’t understand how he’s still marrying her knowing she hasn’t dealt with it.
Ikr bestie.
Right. I would never be able to trust her financially. I would always be worried she would ruin the family and the future.
We don't know what exact inner healing she needs, but from this video and from her interaction with others, she seems like a very deligthful person to be around, and makes me want to be friends with her. So is he. I hope they're happy together since then, and I hope she's overcome her shopperholic/hoarding issues
@@No-sv6mu It is a certainty.
@marialiyubman - Then that would be his loss. Lots of (most?) people have some sort of mental tick/illness. This one is manageable..
Definitely giving this show a thumbs down!! Horribly manipulative of the girl with a hoarding disorder.
It’s soo sad how much we can waste and even sadder the price that they’re sold for well done Amy. I hope you keep it up 👍 Itsjust stuff.
The designer think’s she doing her own house in every show!🤦♀️😳☹️ I do like how they take everything out of the house. Amy needs help. If not it won’t change. 💔
OMG - I am speechless. This is the most ridiculous show on hoarding I have ever seen. Amy has a real problem, A REAL PROBLEM.
Poor girl will have to visit a therapist for a long time after decluttering like that
This isn't fixing the underlying problem..she probably felt very resentful letting her stuff go! She had some expensive items. She will clutter again. It will get worse.
Amy's fiancé is no regular guy. It he was, he would be long gone. He is a keeper.
I hope her fiance realises what he will work for, the rest of his life, if he stays with this woman. The 'designer' comes across as a bully, who pushes her bad taste onto her clients. I feel that she stuffs up the whole show.
Lol when he said it's crunch time and he doesn't wana live like that forever not even knowing if she will change and he tattooed the date of their wedding on his arm. That was a joke aye ? 🤣
Bless him for loving her. I couldn't have lived with her
