We just visited our mini for the first time today! 24 days old. We went to pick one out of a litter of 8 pups. As soon as we picked her up, she nuzzled my beard and licked mine and my wife's noses. We knew immediately that we were going to share our lives with this baby! Can't wait to bring her home.

@@arizonalifestyle79 She's doing really well, thanks! She is very lovable, but also very independent. So high energy, but knows when to be calm most of the time. Right now she chews on everything so it's a struggle to find toys she can't destroy. Loves to chase Frisbees and balls in the yard. It's been a hot summer so we haven't been able to go on many hikes, but have several planned for this fall. And she gets spayed in mid September so I'm taking that whole week off work to be with her. She grew up so quickly and is already her full height in just 7 months. We just adore her!

I got my girl a year ago. She is hands down the best dog that I have ever had. I highly recommend this breed. She is very eager to please and easy to train. Great with other dogs and I never have to worry about her biting anyone. I will stick with this breed for life now.

Your video is doing a great service for not just for the potential Aussie families but the dogs themselves. It is commendable how you emphasize the energetic nature of Aussies and their needs. It makes me sad thinking of Aussies that are trapped all day indoors or have little activity, barely walked except once maybe twice a day- that’s almost medieval cruelty.

My Mani is two years old. I’ve had 4 dogs in my life. Love them all but my mini Aussie holds a special place in my heart over the rest (gotta be truthful). Lots of energy, very loyal, affectionate and super clingy lol. All the things I love in a dog. He’s my first male dog and boy can I see the differences. Some good, some bad but all tolerable. Shedding is an issue but worth it imo.

No. Should be 16 years if well cared for. a Portuguese farm dog lived to be 30 years on human food. His 10 -12 years is probably based on dogs eating Purina or science diet.

My girl is 16 going on 20, I hope. She’s from working lines. What most of these Aussie videos fail to mention is that they pick “their person” to bond with and that is not negotiable. Usually it’s the one who does the hands-on care, feeding, walking, training, lots of eye contact, etc. They will play with and accept pets from anyone in the family, but when everyone is settling down for the night, they settle in at their person’s feet or lap and that’s where they take the evening snooze. This video talked about they’re good with young children, but they tend to nip arms and legs unless persuaded otherwise. Training has to start the day you bring them home, three 10-minute sessions spread out through the day. Many “experts” are vocal about kenneling but if you want a pup to bond with you, letting them howl their little heart out in a lonely room far from your bedroom won’t do. They’re used to sleeping in a warm puppy pile of brothers, sisters, and mom so isolating them is cruel. Put the pup on the bed and when you feel them stir, out you both go for the potty break. Take them where you want them to relieve themselves, then straight back to bed, no playing. As they grow their heavy coat, they’ll jump off the bed when they get too warm but you’ll usually find them by your side in the morning. Treated right, corrected gently, the Aussie pup grows into your “best dog ever.”
