I loved that long comment, its all true. I used to garden with my husband but stopped when he died for 10 years until, four years ago, l I saw one of your videos and was totally re-inspired. Now I have a lovely garden, I grow seedlings to give away and I make fairy houses. Thank you Laura

I’m the same as you. My husband passed 9 years ago and I kind of lost my enthusiasm. I would do the basics, fill some pots, trim the bushes and hedge, but until I found Laura and Garden Answer, my heart wasn’t into it. This summer with all that has gone on, I’ve finally found the enjoyment again.

The editing, camera work, and music all flow like a show on major TV channels. Your content , skill level as a gardener and years of experience set you at the top of your profession. I've noticed my son just like that when my sisters were pregnant with their daughters but when they had they're sons, he was so mean to them! LOL!! It's an old wives tale from my friends and family. A toddler is the best indication of what a pregnant mother is going to have. The opposite sex love each other very much. The same sex are more jealous and rough with each other lol! The second one was not so easy or fun but it resulted in having the baby girl that I had secretly, desperately wanted! I now have two incredibly smart, caring, loving, ADULT children that I am so proud of. You and Aaron are terrific parents. So, no matter what this baby is, it will be as lucky as Benjamin to have won the PARENT LOTTERY! I love your channel and ALL of your family. I found Garden Answer late last year and you inspired me to grow my FIRST GARDEN EVER this past spring! It turned out great. The pool... it's always interesting seeing pools with no safety in America. Here in Australia it's illegal to have a pool without a secure pool fence. The fence has to meet several requirements and must be maintained. Far too many children would die by reaching for something in the water, going in the water & not understanding what can happen. We even have a thing called 'Kids Alive Do The 5' - fence the pool, shut the gate, teach your kids to swim it's great, supervise - watch your mate, and learn how to resuscitate. So important. 😊 🌊

    • @carlaradke4066
      @carlaradke4066 4 года назад

In an urban and suburban area there would be a fence but on acreage like they have it's not required.

However, even if there is a gate around a pool and a kids ball goes over the fence....let there be no mistaking that many kids will find a way to get get over the fence.... we must remember that all the education in the world does not stop accidents from happening, it is the unfortunate part of life and the learning process, at all ages.
This is reality so please do not turn this into an argument.

I share information about Garden Answer to the staff and they now carry Espoma products and we do need to tell them what plants we want a couple seasons before they order because getting them shipped to your home is different than having them shipped to a garden center. You do learn by trial and error and watching GA how to bump things up, plant from seed, use inside grow lights and a plethora of well documented info following GA channel. But, they don't want to give out their mother's maiden name to secure the account because that's too much information. 😒 In this situation, the best way of providing information would be to go to the website of the actual merchant, call Customer Service, and be assured that you're talking to the folks who send you a statement.

I do admit that my Southern Magnolia is messy. I rake all the time but when I sit in my ratty old chair to take a break from weeding, one little breeze and it's heaven! I wish someone would bottle the fragrance. The bees get inside the enormous blooms and actually kick out the little bits on the inside and shower you with that fragrance. It's so worth the mess! It seems like anything beautiful in the garden comes with a price!! Can't wait to see what's in store for that new piece of ground! Best wishes and hugs 🤗

      I have one too!
      A true Southern Magnolia!
And yes, being down wind of that flower fragrance is GLORIOUS!!!
We like ours so much we named it.
      It's the Bob Tree !
      And it has a story.
My Daddy Bob noticed it growing from seed, in a place not known for Magnolias. He dubbed it a fighter, then proceeded to guard it to make sure nothing would happen to it.
      That was 25 years ago.
My Daddy Bob has since passed away, but The Bob Tree is still going strong!!
And he did see the tree become a strong teenager tho!
Now all of his kids have Bob Tree babies in their yards to keep The Bob Tree lineage alive!
It's now a weird family tradition, but also a lot of fun at the same time.
And we all remember our Daddy Bob whenever we're around it.
Funny how plants become so intertwined with our lives, isn't it! ♡

I like that you're a natural friendly gal. The reason I return is because there's not all that comercialism and self promotion.. Watching your videos and your FB page is like sitting down with the gal next door. You remind me of the gal I grew up with. Still a long and trusted friend because she's naturaly a great gal and has integrity. Stay just he way you are. Your Mom is a natural too. :-)

Also I loved Benjamin videoing you picking the sunflowers xx

I second the comment on intros/outros and like/share/subscribe reminders. Bless you for having neither. You don't need them. Just keep doing you.
Btw, I had difficult pregnancies, too. When my daughter was born at 38 weeks, I was 15 pounds lighter than when I became pregnant. I couldn't keep anything down but was starving all the time up until three days after she was born. You look healthy and happy and I'm glad to hear you're over the roughest part. Still praying for you. ~ Lisa

I have a pile for soil, steps, soft clippings etc that I leave in an area I don't use for the bugs and bees to over winter in. Then I have two twig and branch piles for the birds to over winter in as well. It REALLY helps out wildlife! Compost helps the environment and wildlife too in so many ways!

I have enjoyed gardening since I was a child, but never as much as now being a faithful viewer of Garden Answer. I think it is sweet that you are uncomfortable asking people to like and subscribe to your channel. I spend so much time in garden centers that people often think I work there and approach me with questions LOL. I take each and every opportunity to recommend your channel to everyone I speak to. No worries Laura, your channel will continue to grow by word of mouth :)

Soooo sorry that happened to you guys!
It’s happened to our school district principals, they hacked their school emails. Telling the staff they had won $700 gift cards from various department stores. It’s been rampant the last four months around the county.
Sheesh, guess people have a lot of time to scam others of late. 😣

I completely agree with you on the look of magnolias as they age. My mom is a big magnolia fan for nostalgic reasons. They are so beautiful when they bloom but it's so short lived. I just don't know if I could justify having them in my own garden when I can only enjoy the blooms for three to four weeks.

You know, she is right(sorry can’t remember her name), I knew I my mind that I appreciated that you didn’t take video time with an intro and outros. But never actually thought about it. Especially nice when there are you tubers that only post less than 10 mins videos and they spend 2 of those minutes tell people how they have x amount of views but only x amount of likes, please subscribe, talk continuously of their brands and discount codes. So, yes I appreciate that too! I can’t always like the videos bc I watch mostly from streaming through my cable but I always let all the ads play. You guys are great!

Hey Laura- I thought of an idea for you for next Spring. Now that you have some experience with the cut flower garden, what about doing a “Grow Along With Me” kind of series? You cloud let everyone know what seeds to get for the Spring, start them out and transplant them. Folks can post their progress and experiences on FB to compare growing zones. Might be a great idea and an opportunity for this community to share from a distance!
