    OMG my childhood dream ok you had the xr3, xr3i and rs turbo but then you have the Rs1600i it's presence on the road was the same as the diamond white Rs turbo and if you had a D reg then it worth today a fortune but the Rs1600i was in a class of its own and what a car, This beauty with the Rs turbo conversion is the icing on the cake and ok the new car today are more comfortable but the classic keep you a live and the adrenaline rush going down the B roads against its competitors the Renault 5 GT, Golf GTI, and if you know that was the time for hot hatchback day's. I remember seeing a D reg diamond black Sierra Rs500 with the whale tail on the back what a machine and next to the beautiful Rs1600i A reg Rossina Red in the garage, A childhood memory that never forgotten. Who ever has brought this is a very lucky person. A true time piece of motor engineering history.

    • @carmodityclassics
      @carmodityclassics  Год назад

      Our best guess is that it was done in line with the turbo conversion, although you would expect the twin coils to work better with the turbo charger, providing a stronger spark.

    Can we just clarify some things here... 1st yes it's a stunner, to find a car like this in such good nick is amazing, but I was around when these were new, had couple of friends who had 1,not for long though because, it's slow, much slower than u think, brakes are shocking, after the 2nd roundabout flat out your not stopping for the 3rd,they let water in like u wouldn't believe, I remember my mates spare wheel floating in a lake in boot well. Think if I remember right these weren't propper RS's more like a special edition with a few RS bits thrown on a xr3i. I've always thought though these do look nice just doesn't perform anything like how it looks. It's amazing to me how pretty much all fast ford's prices have been going crazy, shows how much people love them I think. But some like this 1 weren't good new, so don't quite get the madness for them now tbh... But I know I'm in the minority lol... Great find still.

    • @cornishrider

      I've never driven one but also heard on good authority that the brakes were awful

    • @richardburns5925
      @richardburns5925 2 года назад

      Greatly in the minority, they are only going one way price wise, up n up. They have a following like nothing else. Fast fords, brought affordable sports car ownership available to the masses, just infectious. I've got a Fiesta ST, good fun on a b road and affordable, sporty and not outrageous enough to lose your license!

    • @vaughanwatkins7146
      @vaughanwatkins7146 2 года назад

      @@richardburns5925 yeah k.. Your kind of missing the point tho, do u think now that this rs1600 (thats slower than standard Honda Civic these days for example) that now fetch over 30k is bringing affordable speed to the masses?? Its was never fast or good when NEW, that was my point in first place & never mentioned ANY other model Ford.

    • @richardburns5925
      @richardburns5925 2 года назад

      @@vaughanwatkins7146 your the one that's missing the point entirely, they brought affordable sport cars to Joe public.......in the 80s. Hot hatches. A bit quicker and more sporty than your standard models. All we had then was unreliable, bad handling British two seater stuff or Porsche or Ferrari. A modern TDI would thrash an 80s hot hatch, everything now is quicker, across the board. Everyone knows that. People wanting nostalgia and to relive their youth buy these now, with so few left and the people that want them usually have deep pockets, the prices will rocket. If you don't get the "Ford thing" don't pepper the net with detrimental comments.

    • @vaughanwatkins7146
      @vaughanwatkins7146 2 года назад

      @@richardburns5925 omg.. I miss the point????... An rs1600 at over 30k..IS NOT WORTH IT!.. IS MY POINT U MUPPET! Just because u have a Ford u think everyone has to agree with u... I DON'T!..ALL Ford's are badly made, age terribly & are massively over rated.
      That's MY OPINION, I don't need a fool like u to tell me differently because u have a different 1....ok?
