I lived 9 years on the 42 side of Ekkamai, absolutely loved it. There's a great Isaan restaurant down the first soi on the right (coming away from Sukhumvit) - Baan Somtam.
Wow, I love your new neighborhood. I love the more local vibe, less tourists and super convenient bus terminal. Oh and you are right next to a Phed Mark? That is amazing.
Personally I think this is not a local vibe, it is Asian tourist orientated vibe, similar to Thong Lor. You can get a local vibe by taking 30min BTS ride south-west, literally no foreigners, but it might not be not everyone's cup of tea.
It is far more of a local vibe than the former area but I mean, the further you go the more local. I kept going 7 hours into Isan and I hit a high level of local. If I go another 4 hours into Lao or Cambodia it's very high local or Myanmar for nearly maximum local local. If you go more far than that you hit the north pole with ultra level local penguins. @@bamboo6044
Wow I never knew Ekamai district has such a quiet backstreet while the main road itself is very loud. Congratulation to your new and better life there any way. Ekamai bus terminal is also called eastern bus terminal. It's a hub for traveling to eastern region (Chonburi, Rayong, Chantaburi, Trat). It was once very busy but today most of the east line vans go to take off from the larger northern bus terminal (Mo Chit) instead.
Yeah, there’s definitely some quiet side streets here. And you’re correct about the name of the bus stop. I showed it in one of the images as I was walking away from it. I didn’t see it when I was walking up because it’s so light colored.

Mark Weins, go out the back and see the filth and leaking drains - front looks great but the back is less than clean!
I’ve taken one of the mini buses twice when I have to come back from Uthai Thani. They are a bit cramped. I solve that by buying 2 seats each time so I could just put my stuff next to me. It was only $5 per seat, so no big deal. I avoid looking behind most restaurants. Lol.

Loved Ekamai district, i stayed at charming apartments 2 which was on ekamai st which is down the street from The Big C supermarket. The BTS is a very short walk from both mentioned places as you mentioned. So many food places. For my daily walk i would walk to terminal 21 mall asok to shop or go upstairs to the food court to eat. There are two malls their across the street from each other. Really really loved the area. I'll be returning to ekamai early next year.
Yay for the upcoming motorcike tour! Looking forward to that. I'm seeing dozens of cool restaurants and places to go all around you. Congrats on your big screen and great video!

Used to live in Ekkamai Soi 23 at the end of Sukhumvit Soi 63. Yes, the BigC is nice. I loved the Orange juice vending machine in front of it a lot. Yes, and in Gateway I also used to shop. Looking forward to hearing about what's good to eat once you do more gastro exploration. Might be plotting on traveling up from Na Jomtien for a Bangkok trip in a few weeks.

Yeah, we all like different things for sure. I actually do not like the Emporium or EmQuartier mall unless I’m going there for something specific. It just feels way too pretentious. I love the DJs, the play, the escape rooftop bar there, and once in a while ago, and hit sushiro.

Hey Serg. Seems like I have been glued to your channel since I found it. I am a travel agent from canada and coming to Thailand on and agent trip. Very excited. Question What are the chances I can find some used GoPro gear? Do you think the prices will be comparable to here? I would love a GoPro for this upcoming trip. I have recommended your channel to all my fellow agents on this trip. Thanks for the info.
I’m not sure where you could find it. Unless you’re doing some extreme action sports, I just use your phone. All of my videos are recorded, and edited, on my iPhone 13 pro max. Thank you so much for your support, and I hope you enjoy your trip!
It's considered the same neighbourhood: Lower Sukhumvit. You're just at a different station in the neighbourhood; there is very little difference between them.
@@LifewithSerg also, for tasty German food "Alexander's German Eatery" is very good, though they don't seem to offer veal, only pork schnitzels. I had the Jaegerschnitzel and it was excellent. Better than Bier House on soi 11. Finally, I here "Here Hai" is very good for crab fried rice. I never went but would like to. Maybe in December. There is always a line out the door.
Wat That thong is very famous not because there is much to see but because it is one of the very few temples in Bangkok that do funerals and cremation. It can be absolutely packed some evenings as you will find out, and if it's a funeral of someone important, traffic around there will come to a standstill.
If you are curious, nobody would mind if you wander around when funerals are happening, there are usually several every night as each funeral rite takes 7 days to complete. Just dress respectfully, black or white shirt. There's a lot of chanting in Bali/Sanskrit which no one understands. You may even be offered little snacks and juice, there are usually more than enough to go around. @@LifewithSerg

Good eye! They have official Swatch stores here and they sell them. They usually sell out every morning that they get a shipment. But the swatch store at Central World definitely sells them.
There’s a bunch that are good here. It just depends what your budget is and what you’re looking for. I can’t make blank recommendations without knowing what someone is looking for or their budget. If you want professional help, look in the description of my last video where I list my agents contact info. He and all of the girls that work for him are wonderful.
@@LifewithSerg thanks will have another look at your previous posts. I’m hoping that 30k for a one bedroom is achievable. Ekkamai certainly has a quieter vibe and less touristy 👍
1) the pronunciation is 'vit', not 'weeet' in sukumvit. 2) because purple is considered the royal colour. 3) sure, why not? i won't be seeing the building colour when i'm inside. 4) having that maxvalu is insanely convenient and i love them. 5) agree, that mall is insanely consistently quiet, especially compared to other malls off BTS.
@@LifewithSerg it's terrific. the best part is you're far enough from the crowd to have some peace but only a few BTS stops from busier areas. i have family living near ari and that's just a quick hop over (with some amazing foods just off the station there) or getting to the underground rail isn't far either. i can't wait to see you do your walks around those soi. i usually stay in soi 60-something and the permutation of being able to turn left or right and end up all over the place is nuts and wonderful. and the best part is, if i get tired, the bike people are usually not far away.
I good red meat is not cheap here because they literally have no cows. So most of that is imported from New Zealand. I will have to go and make a video at that store and I will show you all the prices. Hey Serg. Seems like I have been glued to your channel since I found it.
I am a travel agent from canada and coming to Thailand on and agent trip. Very excited.
Question
What are the chances I can find some used GoPro gear? Do you think the prices will be comparable to here? I would love a GoPro for this upcoming trip.
I have recommended your channel to all my fellow agents on this trip.
Thanks for the info.
I’m not sure where you could find it. Unless you’re doing some extreme action sports, I just use your phone. All of my videos are recorded, and edited, on my iPhone 13 pro max. Thank you so much for your support, and I hope you enjoy your trip!
Howdy...Serg...☕💗...Follow and appreciates as always...🤩💞
Thank you as always!
I have been in that area so many times and it has alot to offer.
Yep, I’m loving it.
It's considered the same neighbourhood: Lower Sukhumvit. You're just at a different station in the neighbourhood; there is very little difference between them.
That might be your opinion, but it has a completely different vibe.
I stayed at that Noble during Covid. Back then I think it was still maroon colored.
I’m just making fun of the color. I looked at the building, but it just hasn’t been kept up well compared to the other ones I looked up.
Yeah, Big C please
Gotcha. Will do.
Ekkamai till On Nut is the best in terms of services and quality of life. The smaller Soi are way nicer and peaceful.
I agree with you 100%. I do not miss Asok at all.
The food at " spicy by nature" is excellent if you like Indian food.
Ohhh. Good to know. I love Indian food. Will try soon.
Congratulations on the new pad Thai (see what I did there) hope you enjoy the new neighbourhood 👍🏼
LMFAO. Good one!
Wat That thong is very famous not because there is much to see but because it is one of the very few temples in Bangkok that do funerals and cremation. It can be absolutely packed some evenings as you will find out, and if it's a funeral of someone important, traffic around there will come to a standstill.
That is good to know. I have never seen a Buddhist funeral.
@Kwippy thank you for that information. I will have to go one night and observe the ceremony. I’m very curious.
Was that a Mission to Neptune Moonswatch i saw on your wrist? Can i ask where you managed to get one from? I thought the Moonswatches werent available in Thailand
Good eye! They have official Swatch stores here and they sell them. They usually sell out every morning that they get a shipment. But the swatch store at Central World definitely sells them.
Hi Serg, I have heard positive feedback about Ekami.
Can you advise which condo buildings you would recommend?
Thank you
There’s a bunch that are good here.
I moved from Ekkamai to Asoke because Ekkamai is so boring and traffic is terrible. 😅
So happy now being in Asoke.
Did we changed apartments? 😮
LMFAO. That’s too funny. Isn’t it great that we all have different likes and tastes in this world.
1) the pronunciation is 'vit', not 'weeet' in sukumvit.
2) because purple is considered the royal colour.
3) sure, why not? i won't be seeing the building colour when i'm inside.
4) having that maxvalu is insanely convenient and i love them.
5) agree, that mall is insanely consistently quiet, especially compared to other malls off BTS.
also, with your enjoyment of walking, i think you will really enjoy the area.
I really love this area. I don’t miss anything about Asok now that I’ve lived in Ekkamai for 1 month.
@@LifewithSerg
it's terrific. the best part is you're far enough from the crowd to have some peace but only a few BTS stops from busier areas. i have family living near ari and that's just a quick hop over (with some amazing foods just off the station there) or getting to the underground rail isn't far either. i can't wait to see you do your walks around those soi. i usually stay in soi 60-something and the permutation of being able to turn left or right and end up all over the place is nuts and wonderful. and the best part is, if i get tired, the bike people are usually not far away.
Very jealous of you Serg - my partner and I plan to move to Thailand in the future.
I hope you two have a wonderful new life here
Being a carnivore, I would like to know what the prices of beef are, particularly ground beef and ribeyes.
I good red meat is not cheap here because they literally have no cows. So most of that is imported from New Zealand. I will have to go and make a video at that store and I will show you all the prices. If you look back at my “shopping in Thailand’s best super market“ video, you will see that I covered some of the prices of it already.
Thanks. Hmmm. I did not know that about Thailand.@@LifewithSerg
Also I live soi 42 lol you made a good decision
Oh that’s a good Soi.
Welcome to the neighborhood!! I’ve been here about 2 months. We should get together for coffee some time.
I really do enjoy it here. I’ll put together a meet up soon.
Hi, I've been your Fc. since your stared to Thailand. I'm Thai living near Bankok, I would like to suggest that you try to visit a city without many tourists , Nan Province, in the nort of Thailand,it's a green, peaceful ,shady area with culture and beautiful nature and delicious local food and recommend another Province in the northeast,is Nakhon Phanom, located next to the Mekong River,it's a province with culture, traditions, many temples a history worth exploring, delicious food, and many things to visit. Try going and you'll see the diversity of Thailand * Unseen Thailand *
I’ve been to several provinces like that. There is more adventure coming up!
We miss mall shopping but here in the area I live , malls are going out of business.. so sad.
The malls in Thailand are 10x better than malls in the US
Purple is my favourite colour but I do agree I wouldn't really live in a building that's purple either 😅
It’s just insane that somebody decided that a whole condo building would look great and purple. And not just this one. I’ve seen at least three other noble buildings that are purple.
@@LifewithSerg exactly and purple on large spaces hurt my eyes I don't know how people live in a huge building that's purple outside 😭
