Can I ask, when you print the SD3 tracks, do you treat the volume level in SD3 almost like a gain knob for a live recording? I'm wondering what level dB you are shooting for in your DAW when you print the tracks. I'm sure there's no hard answer, but a general goal would be great. Thanks for this treasure trove a videos Mike!!

Great explanation Mike, I couldn't hear all the nuances with my headphones on. Are you a professional mixing engineer now? What video software are you using for your screen recordings Mike? 🍻👊👍😎

I use Screenium, it’s a great and easy to use software! Highly recommend it!

Hi Mike . I guess rack toms are not the right . ( 26:35 ) I hear Left tom on the right and right tom on the left . Is that true ?

Hi Mehmet, I have to check. Shouldn’t happen of course ;) But maybe I messed something up. Thanks for the notice

Now I see what you meant. ;) I‘ve panned then toms or rather the whole drum set from an audience perspective, which means the rack tom comes from the right and the floor tom coming from the left. Also the HiHats coming from the right. From the drummer‘s perspective it would be the other way round (when you are a right handed drummer). So it’s okay this way

That color scheme makes my eyes hurt. 😂Whatever floats your boat.

Well, if I mix a song with no more tracks, my colors are usually a bit more gentle 😁

Why don't you mix the drums in SD3 itself? Doesn't it have a lot of great plugins for drums?

    • @MikeLuke

I prefer the plugins in my DAW and when I mix, I have my own template and I use automation moves in the end of the mix which I cannot do using the SD3 plugins. The plugins of SD3 are not specifically for drums, they are common plugins that are used on all sorts of material.
