Kay Ballard is one of the sweetest ladies I have interviewed. In this interview we name drop and talk about Gay Hollywood. It's funny and very interesting.
Sometimes in life, people who do interviews forget that it is not about the self, but the other person. I sat with Kaye at a lunch once and she held my hand for almost an hour. She never made it about herself although she could have. I will never forget that lunch. There are classy people. Even though she was in the light, her class and one liners never crossed the line. She was so genuine. Notice how she almost became the interviewer in this bit. So grounded and so poised. Love to you my lady. JC
Kaye is openly gay among friends and in her hometown (now) of Palm Springs. She and her life partner, former actress Myvanwy Jenn, have been together for decades, over 40 years. I attended a tribute to my friend Ann-Margret in Palm Springs several years ago, and Myvanwy sat with my partner & me, while Kaye sat with Ann-Margret and her husband, the late Roger Smith. Myvanwy was a real sweetheart, and obviously so in love with Kaye. She told us about their home, their pets and their life together. So happy when people find their life partners and are able to share their lives openly, and honestly, despite the bigotry, prejudice, hatred and plain ignorance in the world today.
Had the pleasure of meeting Kay Ballard on ship about 30 years ago. We chatted in the beauty salon and told jokes about our meeting in her show that night! Great entertainer. Loved her in Carnival on Broadway

Kay was always a favorite of mine. She has the quality of being "REAL" not like most of fake hollywood and that is wonderful. we can relate to her more for that
