Before you start off on the bike, hit the space bar to raise it up, then go.
the ruined mining tower has 2 lootable containers on the bottom floor, up on the walls....1 in each tower
Don't forget that Truss Block or you're not air-tight. Also, refine Iron, Silicon & Copper in a spare portable constructor that you carry with you, it can be churning away while mining so you can carry more home at a time.

It also save energy as these transportable constructors use none at all.
The base constructors all use significantly more power when processing. Given how cheap "no fuel required" small constructors are, planting a few on the front porch to refine ore in addition to wood>fuel stretchs power early on (at the cost of logistical juggling.) Changing constructor speed to fast/instant at the start is a cheesy way to get free power for the same reason.

If you ask me, chainsaw should cut the trees like double the speed of survival tool, even triple speed, I personally doesn't care about the fuel usage, even if the loot amount is the same for both. Devs need to fix this issue in some future patch. I also agree if the mining speed stays the same, but at least chainsaw should give us more loot compared to survival tool :D

If you mark the map with Waypoint, the location will be shown on your HUD regardless of what playfield you are on, if you only select the HUD option, it will only show on your HUD on that playfield. This is less confusing when you have 100s of marked locations around the galaxy

Haven't encountered the jitterbug but my hoverbike has a tendency to launch me about 200 meters into the air if I nudge/bump into objects.

I can’t believe I missed this game. I’m a huge fan of space engineers and I picked this up after watching your guide! I’ve actually gone back and started watching all of your old emoyron playlists. This game is amazing and fun. It’s not as easy to understand so your tutorials have helped me immensely. I’m still trying to figure out all the cargo stuff. It’s confusing especially with Wi-Fi. Please keep going with this! I’m loving it!
The cargo can get pretty funky. Materials have their own weights and volumes- penaxid has a lot of volume but not much mass. Sathium has a lot of mass but not a lot of volume if I remember correctly. Wi-Fi extends the reach of the inventory on a vessel or base in a spherical radius around the particular device- if your ship or base is large, you may need more than one Wi-Fi device.
You didn't really miss anything, when it first came out in early access a long time ago it was really really bad. If you look up old videos on it you will probably be able to appreciate how far it has come.
Lots of respect to you @Spanj - I havent played in a while and decided to do a playthrough. I started on Ninques also.. and I died ... a lot - mainly to the temperature. You made it seem effortless. I had the same shaking bug witht the hoverbike. When I restarted the game - all the way out, not just to main menu - it fixed.
yeah, I did a playthrough last year on Ningues. Gotta stick around the lakes and keep getting buds for those hot beverages 'till you can build a HV that you can either stay in a cockpit or sealed enclosure.
when you hit the water and it kicked you off the hover bike and it just disappeared, I died lmao
It is my experience that if you're going to play games like this, you need to have a piece of paper and a pen handy to write down where you go, what you find on each planet and galaxy you visit. those destroyed towers do have boxes you can loot in the downstairs hallway on the ceiling. You gotta look up
This current start is tame compared to Version 1.5, the motorbike was fine it would have been nicer to have a smaller turning radius though. I am playing this game LESS due to the changes recently made (V1.8 thru V1.10) although I still believe this to be still the best game out there, many thanks for promoting this game Spanj.

Should cut down the trees close to the base to give the base defenses clear fields of fire.
Not all of them can be cut down - at least that's what I've found using the same game seed.
Now that they replaced the motorbike with the hoverbike they should have fixed any bugs right?

The Hoverbike seems to made by Matel, its like the HoverBoard that don't work on water!!
It isn't supposed to. It was even in the Patch notes.
The hoverbike was bouncy like that from the start for me. I suppose its to encourage you to get your own HV or SV.
As usual, you got me back in the game. On Lingues. But I'm doing my usual, getting the items together to go straight to SV with warp. Which means I'm spending time on Akua for titanium and cobalt. Going to try to stay in line with the stories this time. Btw. Sentry guns seem to take down drones. Maybe no need for a gat?

I do have to say that Eleon is on the right track with the hover bike...Spanj got almost an episode and a half before it became a complete PitA

The new hoverbike is nice and all, but the HV bikes still have their use. The basic bike cannot carry cargo, and cannot cross water, for one.
i think theres usually lots of plants about 1/2 way up that big tower from what i remember... and a few friendly neighbourhood spiders of course

You could put that other insulation boost in to give your suit some more cold tolerance.
I found that yeeting hoverbike can be solve by playing the V button that is the changing view button.
I know mine did but at skillon. I love the sand planet the most Hate the cold, love the sand. Always remind me of the beach.
I hate sand, Its coarse, rough and it gets everywhere

Really enjoy watching your Empyrion let's plays very informative and helpful to the newer players of the game, in ran the same problem with hover bike in vanilla but in reforged eden I had no issue
You can ride the hoverbike over the water now. It just makes you go very slow.

Actually, the jumping around hover bike is rare if you ask me although seen it on a few streams now. Most times doing a save when off the bike and it is packed away and then rebooting the game seems to solve the issue for everyone to date. I have yet to experience it for myself though to be honest.
By the way nice second stream of the game so far enjoyed the first one and now watching this one I subscribed and liked them both looking forward to more on this!
P.S. In that high tower with the raptors protecting it there are a lot of wooden crates going up it on multiple levels to pick up perishables.
Destroying the bike fixes the issue :P

There are promethium rocks on the surface but they are rare.

Loving your series as always, good sir. The quarry is quite nice but the starting moons overall are absolutely boring compared to Reforged Eden or even the vanilla starting planets we had before
I just gave this update a bit of a play and I have to say, I detest the hoverbike. I never had a problem with the mortorbike, but now, the hoverbike is making me furious. The steering sensitivity goes from 0 to 1000 as you get up to speed; to even get going you need to give it a press on the spacebar because it seem stuck when you first get on it; and my experiences with hitting things (which happens a lot considering the steering issues) are the total opposite of what your videos are suggesting. Not only does the bike spin 180 degrees every time I nudge something, but often, it will seem to collide with nothing at all.
Fully enjoying the new playthrough also love how quickly EGS loads now
@spanj Opening faction containers only hits your rep by 200 points, it no longer drops you to unfriendly. I got a nice eva boost out of mine.
My hover bike was glitching too. Guess I don't feel so bad. I thought it was Reforged Eden with 1.10. Guess we'll be seeing a hotfix soon.
The motorbike used to jank like that, I think it was the result of entities falling through the ground and never being cleaned up properly?
you should mention the ability of the portable constructor to do the ammunition and ore smelting without power needs. At thi stage that is enourmodly advantegeous. Ups, you stated so two minutes after i wrote the comment ;) by the way, great idea to do another beginner guide

Re wobbly hover bike: try raising it off the ground a bit with space. or stop calling it a motorbike :-)
Remember during the star Salvage series all the factions got messed up it was because the the iskall where added into empyrion
If you put 2 insulation boost on you will not get cold!
Not sure if you know you can have multiple of the same armor boost installed. Two insulation boosts helps a lot here! Only need the hot drinks at night or in cold waves.
It also took me forever (several days both irl and in game) to harvest enough "specimens" from the golems, exploring like 97% of the planet in the process (and building a hv to replace the buggy hoverbike)
Speaking of hv, do those also sink in water like the hoverbike?
21:30 there are 2 small boxes. They are on the first level mounted under ceiling. I found one accidentally, they are not standing out.
I also remapped the "auto line up with horizontal" to the middle click. Because I'm not going to press O to align my ship with a station.
Instead of flickering power and spoiling all your food, you can just make shotgun shells and a fuel tank in the portable constructor.
In the two tower there is a loot box on the bottom level near the ceiling in both towers
When your jumping on the hoverbike Spanj are you pressing space bar to raise it? If not it might be a reason for the jitters.
I started on a different planet (I forget the name.) and the hover bike never did that janky shaking. Guess the snow planet likes to get jiggy with it.
shooting beasties with a shotgun should yield mince, shooting them with a flame-thrower should yield cooked stake.
I just found heavy armor where you found the shotgun and when I walked into the cafeteria of the polaris base and put it on to see how much it would slow me down (a lot, but it looks cool), one of the NPCs said "I'd rather die than pay more taxes."

don't think the base is air tight, since the temp didnt go down to 22

I have edited stats of Chainsaw for more damage to trees to make this tool more sence
I never played this game before but I am fascinated by it it's like an rpg base build game only reason I don't go out and buy it is because the graphics look really restrained plus no character voices but I know for a game like this for all I would like to see in it we would need a quantum super computer to run it lol I'm not knocking the devs at all either I know some things have to be sacrificed I mat buy it down the road though
It's still pretty rough despite being "out of early access." It's made by a team smaller than Hello Games, the guys that made No Man's Sky. I still prefer EGS to NMS though NMS has its moments.
And there is the jittery hoverbike I've been experiencing in the official release. I think whatever the dev did to fix "Hoverbike can fly" made it super janky.

I find the hover bike to be super janky, it may be better than the motorbike but not by much. I'm curious how you're staying warm in -70. I didn't get insulation modules until I had an HV.

I've seen your workshop page, but a bunch of the items there say "its for reforged eden", so I was wondering if you have some subset of those items you would recommend to beginners for their first vanilla playthrough

Hello Spanj, I'm new here and will be getting the Empyrion. I was wondering, after you've unlocked the parts needed for the saved ship, ie the fridge, etc, when you have the materials will they automatically be made into the parts needed for the saved ship? Have a fantastic week.
Spanj will show that in the next video, but yes, that more or less happens. Once all resources are added and you start production, it is auto built from the blueprint. Then it notifies you once construction is complete. Spanj really, really hates building in survival mode.

I think it's a disservice to new players to make them think they need a T2 SV for a starter ship. I guess I play the game a little slower. I like to progress through ships by making actual starter ships and working my way up. Unlike most people who like to power through to the endgame as fast as possible. This is more like a beginner series for people who have 2000 hours in game.
True, I did the Ningues playthrough last year on 1.9 and first stuck around the lakes and picked up my resources until I made a swoop HV and a harvester HV that one could stand in its cabin and use the drone to harvest resources. I think I finally got an EVA boost from one of the lab POIs, but that took a while and there were no factions on the moon at the time, so it was a bit of a slow start.

That stuttering of the hoverbike is mega annoying. It puts me off using the damn thing. Hopefully, they will fix that soon, if they have not already.
I actually really liked the original bike, as in the one that sounded like a motorbike. I wish they had that as an option to use in the game again.

OK I'm new to this game, played for 5 days so forgive me if I'm asking a dumb question.
Right is there a way to reset your player stats, I'm currently on level 15 tier and tried to go through the game without losing a life but then found my self in an unfortunate situation where I simply kept dieing.
Every time I respawned to try and retrieve my ship I just kept dieing to a point where I died 16 times, so I eventually gave up trying to save my ship and respawned back to the very beginning of the game but at the abandoned station.
So is there a way of restarting with zero stats as in back to level 1, no kills no deaths.?
What qest do you do after the retrieve speciemen mission

Why did you put 4 sentry guns on your base? There's no base attacks. Just look on statistics of control panel and look for next base attack timer, there isn't one.

Yeah.... the chainsaw is completely useless.
Chainsaw in vanilla totally useless. It also doesn't show how many hitpoints left on tree.
And there is no bug report on hoverbike jiggling yet.
