Bassheads Unite 2017
Noticing something with some of your vids: It seems like you have no problem admitting to mistakes you make.....that can be a tough thing for some people-- but good on you for letting us see your step-by-step videos, and including your minor mistakes and set backs in them (you could've easily edited them out). It makes you human, and it makes it easier for US to relate to you.
...and I REALLY want to find that "Speaker Box Maker" program...that thing is pretty rad.
You could use WinISD or find BassBox Pro for free somehow just fyi
I'd rather watch this than almost any show on TV! Great stuff Exo. From a super old school Bass head :)
C Smith isn’t it way better than tv!? No commercials, no fake production editing and no bullshit!!!
For your speaker terminals in the future, you can run 1/4 inch copper bolts from any home improvement store. They are made for holding down toilets, but are solid copper and work great.
Most in depth sub box vid ive ever seen. Man you rock! Im making a a full marty with a ultimax 18 and was just skimming vids. Wish i had seen this before I did my first build. Listen to this dude people. And measure twice and cut once!!!
Best tutorial. That's how every tutorial should be made.
Thanks for the kind comment! Glad it was helpful for you :)
man i could sit here all day and watch you build boxes.i like to build them aswell.
Thank you for purchasing the Dayton Audioregistered SUB-1200 12" Powered Subwoofer. It is the perfect addition to any home theater system. This powered sub features a bottom firing flared port bass reflex design for reduced port noise and increased bass response. It also utilizes a long throw 12" woofer and up to 120 watts of house shaking power. This compact sub is finished in a non-obtrusive black veneer that will complement any decor.
i have been following exo si,ce the beginning in 2010. This dude has heart, hard work and has a great channel.Best car audio channel for sure on RUclips. I enjoy his stuff more than Steve Meade Designs even
This is the best build video out there! Super informative, clear, and concise, while covering stuff that isn't covered in other videos. Great job!
Best box building tutorial on the internet!
I would’ve thought you were going to sand down the port before you painted it but you definitely know more than I do in car audio and boxes and shit
It's good to see people do what they love in life. Not tripping about life, just making a kickass box.
Exo is really talented. He's got a gift for this shit.
I mean really this is the most simple shit there is out there...
this level of work was easy in high school lol
Yeah he's a ricer too
He understands the workings of it all so I'll give him props on that. Gifted however, I would agree if he were calculating his enclosures manually instead of through software.
Hope You ENJOY!!!
EXOcontralto Keep your beard
EXOcontralto it's been awhile man but welcome back keep it up bro basehead for life
EXOcontralto for realz exo was missing your vids bro hope your in better spirits
EXOcontralto Can't wait to see it flapping the side mirrors :D
EXOcontralto keep it up bro
The rings around the port really made this project stand out. Great job all around!
Your master box designer here, i got up coming new port boxes that no one ever seen, and just to let you know im really working hard creating everyday
Worth the wait. Amazing job with the box. Can't wait for her reaction lol!
EXO is a box building GOD !! he's the King !!
Far from the King, but your compliment makes me smile!
EXOcontralto would you please build me a box i will pay for shipping please just a single 12 for a sundown Audio sub
EXO... Bro! The only thing more amazing than your box building skill is your enthusiasm! Definitely an inspiration. This is gonna be one of my go-to videos, if I ever feel down, to bring me back up.
Thanks for the upload.
I'd already watched about 9 of your videos in a row, but at 13:15 here, I immediately clicked subscribe.
You're the man!!! Thanks for joining the crew, Jason!
Blown away at the quality of your videos. Very good editing, cuts, angles etc. Amazingly good. And building such a quality box. Bet it hits.
Very nice sub. Seems a bit much for the wifey, lol.
Worst part is some pos breaks in and steals it. 😠🙁
The man definitely know his shit and this makes it enjoyable to watch and learn. plus he's kinda funny. His videos are worth viewing.
Much love, Jeff! Thank you for taking the time to write a nice comment like that, means a lot :)
hey bud gotta give it where its dew, credit that is, and from what i viewed looks like you've put in your time... keep runnin with it and lii keep watchin and i just might learn ..good luck
Dude, I cannot express how much I thoroughly enjoy your videos. Your enthusiasm for what you do really makes me happy to be passionate about the things I am passionate about! KEEP IT UP!
It’s crazy to think from where you are now and what you have done with yourself to just a short 5yrs back on this video. Keep up the killer work brother!!
does Lowe's know that your calling them home depot?? lmao
guy cutting the wood has a lowes vest on lol exo blazed before the wood pickup forsure
I know that Home Depot is also larger than Menards and Lowes combined, so he may say Home Depot just because more people will know what it is.
do u sell these boxes
jere miah I do
U khv
What the hell does Exo do for a job!? I’m so lost. How do you afford all this good stuff AND have time to be a youtuber!?
except that cruddy drill 😂
Sheeeit.. 1.7 million subs and counting.. he doesn't have to work lol
@@johndeleon713??

Thanks to this video I now made a box for my Dayton sub. out of half inch plywood
Hey EXO! I've been a huge fan for quite a long time, from before the beard with the original crazy van to Frankie and little blue, you're a great generous person making boxes and helping your sister and girlfriends with having such experience with what you do. Keep up the updates I want to see what becomes of little blue and don't forget Frankie! Where I'm from there is only one bass head I know and he lives dang far so I'm hoping to contribute to the bass head population soon! I've got a nice build coming along but it's on a tight budget, two years in the making but I'm excited to finally be able to get it plugging along, it's nothing like Frankie but her name is Medusa and I'm hoping she will make hair tricks on 7200 watts and 4 12's but who knows, I know JP and Bassman so if you find yourself in the Seattle area anytime I'd be glad to give a demo! GO HAWKS!
great video!
EXO EXO EXO forgot to take into account when measuring the boot, how much room have you got going into the boot. I only say because I have been caught out like that. I built the box and I couldn't get the damn thing in there..
it look so dope with the Yellow'ish and light pink and light light blue colcor on the port
This is great. This really doesn't have enough views for how good it is. Excellent editing and camera angles, great clarity. Just enough humor to keep it enjoyable, as well as great content.
This video is a perfect format. Great idea with the flower.
thats kind of gay
That port looks like its been made by fisher price.
Kevin anything LMAO 😂😂😂👍🔥🔥💀
Its because you dont know about ports boxs or anything in this video he did a kick ass job
@@goodfellasinc.5648 i don't think he was knocking his craftsmanship, just saying the colors and design look like something you'd see on a Fisher Price toy. Definitely did a knock out job and the port was a great touch for his woman.
Goodfellas Inc. where can I buy a port like that at?
@@theurbanartist775 you gots to tune yr port to the box of how low you wanna go . Are you building a bass boxs let me know ill help you..
I also broke the two woofer boxes I made today.
I don't use as many speakers as you do.
Be working on one woofer
Your information is very helpful.
The first woofer to work on was a record of 150 db.
My goal from now on is 160db.
I don't even have your woofer box design software.
I'm just copying the video on RUclips.
I wish there were more video clips making woofer boxes.
You are a man of gratitude.
Keep up the great work! Glad to be able to help in any way
EXO your content and instructions are near perfect, even admitting to mistakes....love it brother!!!
...HOLY MATH.... well I was going to build one myself.
right.. Makes me not want to waste my wood. lol
Not bad, not bad - good bass!
enjoyed watching this. it doesn't matter how older I get, watching a box being busted out is like therapy. Lolo
bass box Pro 6 has really helped me design some good boxes it allows you to see the performance of the box and make changes. designing the old-fashioned way sometimes led to boxes that did not meet expectations most of the time I find myself tuning higher instead of lower after seeing how much output was lost over the bandwidth.
Me podrías diseñar una caja para mi subwoofer??? Claro te pago por el diseño
Man good job cutting straight with a skillsaw.
Thanks, Lee! Got lots of practice, and always learning more :)
Appreciate you dropping some comments!
Exceptional video in every aspect man! These videos always make me want to build something!
EXO you are the best.
Your helped A LOT to understand BassBox Pro but I also learned a lot about subwoofer building.. Thank you for everything..
I think thats the best looking box you ever built. Your defiantly getting better.
Do more box builds with different sized subs I want to build a 15in sub box but don't know where to start
Alex Prax what 15 do you have...?
Start with some wood.
Same lol I have a single Skar Evl 15 D2 and I want to build a 4th order bandpass box but don't know where to start Measurement wise
if yall don't want to buy bassbox pro
hornresp is a free program that allows you to design far more box types than bassbox
Technologic I don’t think you can find the response of normal poured it in closures in hornresp though
bro your the best car audio on youtube
Great video man, really enjoyed! Thanks for making it. I also enjoy your sense of humor and attention to detail.
Much appreciated bro! I love making these sorts of videos :)
I'm not used to him curse, every time he does in this video I go "ooo" like an old grandma.
34:00 song?? pls
i wish u was my teacher back when i was young loved the vid had me hooked explained really well cant wait to start my project this is by far the best tutorial iv ever watched salute to u keep em coming
BIG ASS PORTS FOR THE WIN
Hey whats the app he uses to test DB? thanks!
R3MIX MODZ ssa audio
what muziek number starts at 29:51????????????
btw love the build EXO
yes!! keep more areo port builds coming
I love building boxes , just did a box for 2 12’s for my friend for free . Just material cost you never know when you’ll need a favour yourself .
hey EXO I like to buy the 2:18 that you had a little blue if you would like to sell them the ones you had to do a Recon on if you're interested in selling them leave a message for big Rob in the comments plz
167db ~ 37 hz?
Appreciate the video, just made my first box based on this video. Sounds great with my SQ 12hdc3.
Way to go, Derek!!!
That's what it's all about. Are you happy with the bandwidth?
Bad ass box build
Gonna make one for a 15"
Never understood why so many people use screws rather than nails when the box is glued together
the intense vibration will loosen the nails. Screws offer a more secure solution.
Xenji interesting, i've never had a problem with using nails but maybe it depends how powerful the subwoofer that's in the box is...?
RWL2012 yes the overall power would make a difference. however, it's a good practice to use good quality wood screws with lock nuts as well to bind into the wood to ensure optimal sealing and tightness
No need for clamps when using screws, the screws will clamp everything together tightly. It's also easier to quickly disassemble something before the glue sets if you made a mistake. Nothing wrong with using nails though, one should use what you find the most convenient.
I would just make a cardboard box
LMAO, that'd work out well... For about 2 seconds ;) ;)
EXOcontralto yup
haha, JBL bass
Now that's one nice strong enclosure.
I like how you did this with inexpensive tools. You don't need a $2,000 saw stop or or dozens of router bits to make a simple box.
Am I the only one that felt dumb once he start plugging numbers into that program? 🤔😒
He completely lost me. 😭😭😭
those numbers come with the speaker on a spec sheet
you just copy them from the manufacturers specs that come with the subwoofer
Song at 6:10 ?
Zora Venka - Fascinam
Vax Buster thank you 👍👍
it´s not! it´s from Otis McDonald - Hangs Up!!! and it´s over 7 years old
Thanks for making videos Exo. My brother and I started this hobby years ago, watching your stuff.
Legit video, nice looking stout box built without any tricky puzzle piece wood shop technique...that few people wanting to their own box can duplicate.👍
But most of all the router depth setting was real as it gets!
One word...DECAF
Dropping Hertz Hotel subs do some real damage. I will get me some, give them their max RMS, and have a box with two of them fixed at the lowest Hertz with the highest SPL. Time to move away from the AIWA and Optimus in my crib--even though they compete with the car audio folk.
The drill of death is back😎
This is the part I need the most help on
I hear that. Sometimes having the correct tools is half the battle!
Hey man, pretty cool video and love the flower on the port idea, as far as carpet goes.....I tried that once and never did it again haha, so on the last box build I did I actually used flex seal on the entire box and it turned out pretty amazing, cheap and hassle free, hope this helps!!!
That is the biggest port I have ever seen on a sub box.
Great tutorial on how to build a box but more than that? Great tutorial on how to use your gifts and talents to treat your girl right. Not enough examples of that in the world. Kudos for showing what a real man is like.
This is almost the exact box I need. Gonna order the port tomorrow.
I just watched this whole video. I have definitely gotten back into the bass game. All I wanted was a little bump in my racecar...yeah, that makes sense...to some of us...and now I'm already into upgrading shit...
Best comment of the day!!!!!
Your knowledge is a great help for my ongoing projects
You young fella are multi-talented. Very personable in front of the camera, great editing, great explanations all with a bit of humor. 👍
@ 9 minutes is the best part!!!
dude that's awesome., wish i could do that. just paid $160 for a box.. loved the rockville vid too..
Thanks man! Are you happy with the box you paid for??
yeah my box is pretty nice i designed it 2.1 cf ad tuned like 36.5hz after fu 750 sub big ass, double baffle with bracing rounded port, 30.375 sq in.. guy on ebay boomboxtech will make anything u want just shipping is crazy on boxes.. only running 930rms @2 ohm on tiny ppi p1k, no big 3 uet on old 4ga wire.. 04 grandprix (same motor u did big 3 video on) haven't metered but probably 137db or so.. debating getting that d2 rockville just to see if my car/wire will handle more poweri'm in sanford if u ever down this way please drop by to meter it lol.. this i basically my box little bigger with lower tune i got it without carpet.. www.ebay.com/itm/STAGE-2-PORTED-SUBWOOFER-MDF-ENCLOSURE-FOR-AMERICAN-BASS-XR12-SUB-BOX/263177242969?hash=item3d46960959:g:keEAAOSwWflZ6V5G&vxp=mtr u pretty famous on car audio forum right now..
FANTASTIC , INTERESSANT PROJECT
looking good exo, only thing diff i would have done is paint the screws for the port mount. just for appearance sake
titebond is a very nice glue, but I like to use "PL Premium 8x" over any other glue only because I'm in the hardwood flooring industry and that's all I use. I prefer the 8x over the regular PL solely because it sets up much quicker, so you don't have to wait like 15 hours or whatever it is to dry lol. love how in depth your videos are. you the man! Coming from LongIsland NY
Dude, I was basically watching this because I wanted to see how you made the speaker opening, and I can't believe that I've never thought of that method before. I have made quite a few speaker boxes and I just made one for some cheap Pyle DVC 8 inch woofers and it sounds great, but my speaker openings look like they were cut by a 4 year old because I set the speakers upside down, traced the outline, marked it half an inch inside, and the only saw I had (I bought a jigsaw since) was a sawzall, so I made due with what I had. This box is night and day from my shitty box. I used 3/4 MDF and wood glue for the seams, but I don't have any damn saw horses or a table saw so once again, I made due with what I had. Oh well, it sounds good for a set of shitty 8s, and the shitty cuts will be covered by the carpet. Live and learn...
Super glad to be here helping out any way I can! Anything to make the job a tad bit easier is a WIN. Thanks for taking the time to watch the video and sharing your comment!
Man I wish I was handy enough to build this for myself... this is all I want in my car lol
You can do it man!!!!!
Thanks for all the encouragement and inspiration Exo! I'm thinking of going for the new version of the K9's when they come out, the XFL1222, or a new company called Wolfram and their sub, the AG-12. I saw you tuned this box for about 39Hz for your gal, you think I can go lower, say 30 ish Hz? What would need to be changed in terms of the enclosure compared to this one?
No problem man. It has a pretty harsh cut off below that, but still maintains decent output into the 30's, yeah!
I dig the "Fisher Price" port dude, you had an original idea, and that's dope. Next time, for me though, spray the screws too please and let 'em set over night, maybe with a couple quick coats of clear to cure and you won't scratch 'em up when you screw 'em in. Then you'll go from dope to DOPE AF in my book ... 👈 and over there, you can see I dig that ... and your enthusiasm is pretty fuckin RAD dude! I don't even know how I got here ... I had some hot rod videos playing in the background while I was painting some of my own "Fisher Price" stuff like I do every day. I dig the sound of big blocks, super chargers, and twin turbos, but I ended up here. Since I built my first Isobaric chamber with 2 10's in 91 when I got my new GTI with all thrift store and Radio Shack parts that hit 41, I had to check this out for a bit. A buddy and I had a bet who could make the best system for the cheapest amount without any giveaways, I guess because were idiots, but it was fun. So thanks for this, I'm sure it's been out a while now, but I still dig it. I hope you're still building, it's kinda who you are, at least I think. What the hell do I know though? I still think it was badass!!
✌️
what i do on carpeting a box is at each end of the box i will route me a groove about 1" in on both ends at about 1/4 deep to tuck the edges in .
FLOWER POWER 😎
Love watching your builds brotha.
I just watched the whole video that a nice box
Great Job EXO!!!! She's gonna love it!!!I just bought Two of the 10 in adjustable aero ports 22in long, but I got mine from audible engineering, the dude on big ass ports didn't answer my email and audible did.So o well they look the exact same, anyways, and they gave me a better deal, and also I was able to use a gift card so it worked out really well.I will be doing an unboxing on mine in a day or so.An in about a month I will be starting my New build for my 2 18 in Zcons!!!!But thanks for the great video and the awesome lanyard, and bracelet as well bro I'm rocking them everyday!!!!
I used this exact same type of felt
carpeting on a box for my truck and the exact same adhesive and mine still looks good after 5 months.
Been along time but I like these types of videos. Hope you sealed the wires through the box
thanks for the lesson on this I wasnt making a few things "solid" enough
Your a beast bro no lie if I ever had the chance you would be my first to build man box on a 07 Chevy avalanche 15" DB DRIVE PLATINUM WD
Means a lot to me, Luis! Thank you :)
Those port parts looks like toys
You are really great bro. Thanks to your hands.
Exo your the man, that box is sweet you did a great job on it.
I love that you have every opportunity to edit mistakes out and then you keep it in😂
