LOL - this technique works with ANY liquid! It’s called deglazing and, when not so burned, it’s how you make gravy. Try it. Doesn’t have to be coke. Could be water or even milk! Leaves clean pan every time.
It always a good idea to take your food out, add water to the hot pan and let it soak while you eat. I use a little Bar Keeper's Friend and a damp paper towel to polish SS like new! The price of cola has skyrocketed lately. I don't like supporting those companies because they are destroying our health--you're very wise not to allow your children to consume sodas.
I wish I had known about this about two weeks ago. I burned sugarary BBQ sauce. Took forever to scrub it clean. I used cream of tartar.
