I love that you use grit to cover your seeds. It's something I've never considered before, so thanks for the tip! :)

You're welcome, it's something we have done for years with good success 👍

I'm sure that you'll have great success with your Calendula as they're tough as old boots. I grow that variety every year plus Indian Prince and Funky Stuff. I'll have to give the Eryngium and Primula a go as I've never sown them and it looks like I still have time. Intrigued by what's to come in the future videos! Take care.

That's good to know as we haven't tried this Calendula variety before, or the other two you grow. I just adore the seeds! We also dry the flowers for a lovely tea. You have plenty of time to sow Eryngium and Primulas so long as they get a few months of cold weather. Hopefully if the weather is okay at the weekend, we'll be able to get the filming done for the exciting addition we have planned. Best wishes Wendy x

I'm surprised to learn that newly sown seeds don't need watering.

I've never heard of that, we always water and make sure they don't dry out.

Thanks Karon, in your growing zone you can easily grow all of these. I don't know how cold your winters get but if you don't get germination from the eryngium and primula in the spring try putting the trays in the fridge for 2 weeks and then bring them back out. This should break the seeds dormancy. Hope this helps. 😁👍

Hi there ! It's not the first time I hear you say you use compost in pots. I'm not sure we use the word compost in the same way in France...usually in pots I use potting soil or garden soil and mix it with a bit of compost but not 100% compost...According to the dictionnary, it's the same word in french and english...so maybe there is a specific reason why you only use compost ? I 'd love to hear about that :) Also, thanks for showing us that autumn doesn't mean the end of gardening ! :)

Hi, glad you liked the video. We still have so much to enjoy outdoors. We use compost more for convenience. We could use a mix with garden soil but we don't have much open ground to dig it up as the borders are quite full. We have also found in the past that the soil has a tendancy to become overly wet and compacted when used in containers. We used to make our own but have yet to dedicate a space in this garden for it. Perhaps a project for next year 😀👍
