Sure it's Magneto's strongest playable form, but unlike Marvel 2 where only the top tier can play ball with top tier characters like Magneto, in X-Men vs Street Fighter every character has nice tricks up their sleeves and can compete with everyone, that's why I love this game so much better than Marvel 2.
But marvel 2 allows you to play if you are able to block. Even with everyone having infinite in xvssf. You may end up getting perfected all the time. :) an example you play with sim and you have magneto. You can just mp hypergrav him to death. Or pick cyclops and do corner infinite till he spins and repeat. 🤔

Yo justin i just bought an arcade stick and am going to give fighting games a real shot this time, im doing the unist tutorials and playing around mvc2 training with doom, jill etc but the thing is i really cant do nothing against ai and lose all the time since im not that good and dont understand situations and what to do, can you do a mvc2 for absolute beginners series where you go through basic tech, combos, teambuilding, neutral game etc all that good stuff would really appreciate it big man
Evo story: when I went to Evo it was in 2003, it was at a college called Pomona something. I rode from Texas to cali on vtc bus and somewhere in Arizona we switched to a charter bus. Well when I got to the arcade there were lines up the yinyang for mvc2, cvs2, and 3s that X-Men vs sf and sf championship edition were open. So I went to X-Men vs sf and some dude played against me using storm/mags and infinited me to death by doing lightning attack over and over lmao. Here I thought I was slick knowing ryus infinite😂. But fr having to use all three buttons to dash instead of two is harder than it seems lol. The best version I'd say of mags would be children of the atom because he actually uses his shield like in the cartoon.

The nitty gritty of the arcade scene was actually this game in my area at least the level of broken in this game is only rivaled by capcom fighting jam.
Eh XvSF had a better character roster. It’s just busted as all hell. MSHvSF is honestly the most balanced of all the VS games. It’s just the least exciting in terms of character roster.
I remember one time I did the double super with Magneto and Storm to end off a round and when Storm came back from offscreen she was that pink color that flashes when she does lightning storm.
I don’t think starlegion one button dashes. There are a few players especially from the Philippines who can play like that (on actual arcade cabs) without one button dash.

Not sure if Justin mentioned it (or IF he's aware of it, though I'm sure he is), but there's a bug involving Chun-li: She's completely invincible during the recovery on her Senretsu Kyaku (ground kick super). In other words, she cannot be punished when she throws it out on block or even on whiff.

One thing i like about this xmen vs street fighter is if ken and ryu do double super ken will shinku hadaoken together with Ryu instead shoryu reppa. Not really know this specific ken super with Ryu carrry to Marvel vs Street Fighter or not. PS1 version X-men vs Street Fighter and Marvel vs Street Fighter is the worst version to play because it remove tag out mechanic.
Under normal circumstances a lot of the ground combos his opponent was using aren’t really viable without one button dash. I mean it’s possible with three button dash but it’s extremely hard. You’re mixing dash cancels into SJ cancels. Extremely tight timing. One button makes it more viable and accounts for random execution errors.
that isn't what he is talking about. people bind a button to 3xpunch and 3xkick or even a step further, macros. having a precision dash and super jump makes certain near impossible things extremely doable. this game is nuts, you can cancel moves with super jumps into air combos that have no business being air combos. example: wolverine's d+hk launches them slightly, which needs an instant cancel into a super jump, then you do your combo on the way up super fast. the timing is crazy tight!
I stick with the old approach for 1-button dashing: it's ok if you give up a button for it, it's cheating if you just have it on top of the usual 6 buttons 🤷♂️

GameFAQs has some really great mvc2 stuff too. Just stick with it, it'll take a while to figure everything out.

2. Feel motivated. fire up an MVC.
3. Play 2 or 3 matches. Get depressed.

Dash macros are NOT cheating. As someone that plays on pad, it can be really inconsistent to dash using the button combos.
