    One minor correction, the TI UCC21520 is only a gate driver with a few features like deadtime built in. Any modulation appears to be handled by the main Enphase ASIC.

      Shoot, you're right. It seems to be a script issue. We've corrected that.🤯

    Very professional and informative for us technical folks. Thanks!!

    Interesting... Do you know how they supply the gate driver in the isolated side?

    How do they make capacitors that last so long in extreme overheating for decades? Capacitors fail inside the house even after a couple years

    This board looks extremely similar to the IQ7+ as you mention in your video. They both even seem to have the same part number (E342828) if you look closely. Do you see any other differences at all beyond probably them having different software?

      Internal structure-wise, no, they're basically identical.

      @@ChargerLAB Thanks for the video. I thought the IQ8 could generate more kWh than the IQ7. How can it be if the components are all identical?

    Of grid?

    4:52 As was the case with the IQ7+, it's a gas discharge tube, not a transistor.
    0:34 "-1 to 0 to +1" confuses me. It's more intuitive, but in reality "1" is the middle of the scale and 0 is on both ends. Does this mean that the inverter will plainly shut down if the power factor of the load is worse than 0.85? Suppose you start a compressor (which may have a power factor of .7), will all power be delivered by the grid?
    So many questions!

      if i put a 80v panel on the micro inverter is this the component "gas discharge tube" the would most likely die ?

    • @bjornroesbeke
      @bjornroesbeke Год назад

      @@spacefrogbe231 No, a GDT only triggers at hundreds of volts, say 800 to a couple of kilovolts. They are used in conjunction with metal oxide varistors, who respond more quickly to lower overvoltages and can't shunt as much current.
      It's placed near the AC input, not the DC input so your inverter will be fubar way before the GDT triggers.

      Ik zie dat je ook van belgie bent :D Is de omvormer nog herstelbaar na het aansluiten van een 80v paneel ?

      Yes they do. In the old theys they had issues with the M series. These new ones are super durable.

    Question for you, you sound super technical I am trying to determine if there is a way to trick / convince the iq8 to work without a grid without the load controller. I saw a video that I cant confirm was real. ruclips.net/video/TgIK6n5P06Q/видео.html the person had a small 240v load directly connected to the iq8 and it just ran. Also would like to know if there was a way to send a signal for it to charge a battery and or discharge. My goal would be to build my own battery which I could for a 1/5th the cost on a 10kwh enphase battery.
