I do not see generac being able to compete with enphase.
    I welcome competition though.

Nicely done, but why compare two products when you never use the other(Chilicon). I have a 12kWh on 17 Chilicon Microinverters system. There are (2) 390W PV 144 cells per inverter in mid-Florida. As you mentioned, the inverters overheat and clip the power out to 550~600W per inverter. I wish I would know that... Your favorite IQ8H would undoubtedly do better, but it is as expensive as the Chilicon 720W one inverter on one 390W PV, I know the chilicon can handle over 500W all day. For the HID, it is fantastic, the app not so much and the power monitor is a plus. Anyway, Good work and thanks for keeping us educated and informed.
    Give it a try ;-)

Funny you talk about clipping but then mention the IQ8A with the LG 440w panel but don't mention any clipping on that setup when per enphase the maximum continuous wattage is 349w basically 21% reduction from peak which is possible or close to possible daily. Seems quite bias towards enphase and not very truthful.

Enphase has the one that goes to about 380w. So that one is fine for 400w panel as you will never get that 400w in real life. Or maybe you get like 390w for 5 minutes so you theoretically lose 10w for 5 minutes.

I had 7 quotes for solar and battery. 5 of them were Enphase, 2 were Generac. The highest two were the Generac and the difference was extreme, over $10k. I was shocked at the difference.

I assure you, that wasn't because of the tech being more expensive, but much more likely due to the companies that have deals with Generac to force-feed just that one product. i.e. Powerhome or Pink Energy etc.

    What Are the Best Microinverters?
    July 7, 2023
I needed to know What Are the Best Microinverters in 2023. The Enphase is everywhere, so it must be the best microinverter, right?
    Three things matter to me.
    1. Max peak output
    2. Warranty and serviceability for the next 25 years
    3. Cost per panel
Here is what I came up with.
    Max peak output
It’s important to pair the correct microinverters with the correct solar panel for micro-inverters. The peak output of Enphase IQ-8 microinverters varies depending on the model and should be paired with no more than a specific wattage panel.
For example, the Enphase IQ-8 can be paired with no more than a 295-watt panel because the peak output of the microinverter is 245 watts. So, if you pair the Enphase IQ8 with a 400-watt solar panel, you will still only get 245 watts. The peak output of the microinverter caps your solar panel production.
I have assembled a list of proper pairings based on Peak Output for all quality micro inverters.
    Peak output of Micro-inverters-
Enphase IQ-8 - 245 watts Peak output - paired with no more than a 295-watt panel.
Enphase IQ-8 Plus - 290 watts Peak output - paired with no more than a 330-watt panel.
Enphase IQ-8 A- 330 watts Peak output - paired with no more than a 370-watt panel.
Enphase IQ-8 M- 360 watts Peak output - paired with no more than a 400-watt panel.
Chilicon CP-720 = 720 watts Peak output - paired with no LESS than TWO 400-watt panels.
Generac Chilicon CP-720-DBC DUO Microinverter is a single inverter that has a Peak output of 720 watts.
Because there are no 720-watt panels in production, you can divide the Generac Chilicon 720 Microinverter between two 400-watt panels maxing out each solar panel production.
The most powerful inverter is the Generac Chilicon CP-720-DBC DUO Microinverter.
Warranty and serviceability for the next 25 years
Enphase offers a 25-year product warranty and will pay the installers 150.00 per occurrence to visit the home for labor.
Enphase relies on the installer to stay in business and service the customer over the next 25 years. If the installer is out of business, Enphase will help you find a new installer to install the warranty work. If the labor costs exceed 150.00, the contractor will bill the customer the difference. Most companies charge 395.00 for a service call and 75.00 per hour once they start the work.
Generac Warranty is 25 years for all parts and all labor, and with Generac warranty claims - You deal directly with Generac on all service-related issues. They will issue a service call to an AUTORIZED Generac installer that must agree to service the issue within 24 hours, or it goes to the next available AUTORIZED Generac installer that can service the issue within 24 hours. Generac pays the Authorized Genreac installer directly; the customer gets no bill.
Generac has many Authorized Generac Generator Dealers set up throughout the United States. They are converting the older generator dealers into new Clean Energy and generator dealers.
Generac has been setting up generator dealers for over 60 years and has a strong customer service advantage.
Generac Chilicon CP-720-DBC DUO Microinverter has the best warranty.
    Cost per panel
Cost of products- Compare cost per panel.
Enphase IQ-8 - 245 watts Peak output -$193.54 per panel
Enphase IQ-8 Plus- 290 watts Peak output - $201.60 per panel
    Enphase IQ-8 A- 330 watts Peak output - $209.00 per panel
    Enphase IQ-8 M- 360 watts Peak output - $369.00 per panel
Chilicon CP-720 = 720 watts Peak output- The average cost is $269.00, but you use it on two panels, so the per-panel price is $ 134.50.
The Generac Chilicon CP-720-DBC DUO Microinverter is almost 250.00 per panel cheaper than the equivalent Enphase Microinverter.
This information is found freely online, and you can easily verify it by copying and pasting it into your Google search bar.
It became apparent that Enphase has better marketing, but the Generac Chilicon is a far superior product. I hope you find this informative and helpful.

You're designing around the STC rating of the module which is not the recommended method for pairing your micro inverters. You should be looking at the NMOT or NOCT ratings, these are real world power ratings of the module. Is it possible for the solar module to generate the STC rating, sure, but it's maybe two month out of the whole year.
With that said, if you think Generac has the better micro inverter you're not considering the technological leaps Enphase has made with their 8th generation micro inverters. Even when compared to AP Systems or NEP, Enphase runs circles around them on a component level and software level. Generac is buying companies in the renewable sector and forcing them to collaborate and work together, which is very difficult.
Giving reference to the age of Generac has no bearing on the companies they're acquiring, they built their generators from scratch, fully tested and engineered in-house. They're not making building a new product from scratch, they're taking already made products that are "ok" and slapping their name on the cover. Generac has deployed fewer than 5,000 storage sites since the acquisition of Pika Energy, if that doesn't speak to how poorly this strategy is working for them, we're all doomed.
Does that mean Enphase is always going to be the best choice? No, that's the beauty of a free market, but for right now, Enphase is absolutely the best micro inverter you can buy.

Please I need some advice: I have 32 PV Panels w/Enphase IQ7+ My main grid 200amp panel is outside with two 100 amp breakers that each feed a 100amp panel that is landlocked in a finished basement. How can I supply power to just my furnace blower and two freezers during an outage? I can manually shut off one of te 100amp breakers and load shed the other 100amp panel but I can not add a critical load panel as there is no way to run wires to the basement.

I thought generac was using a dc optimized/coupled system?...does this mean they will now be using AC micro inverters on their solar/battery backup systems?
I was leaning toward generac because of the DC to battery charging efficiency and their automatic load management system.
Does emphases or solaredge offer anything like the generac load management?

If someone might have a Solar Edge system but want to have you install an additional Enphase system, it would be nice to have the SE help charge the battery.

My installer said it was the easiest installation he ever did. Made in the USA too. We've installed Chilicons on 4 residential sites and one commercial site. Not very impressed. Monitoring is very basic and clunky.
