- The Toyota Tacoma continues to be a leader in resale value, year after year. Some may consider the truck to be dated, but in this review we see how Toyota continues to add modern features, while leaving reliable components in place to create a vehicle that has a massive following of satisfied customers! I own a 23 TRD Off Road 6’ bed , double cab with the premium and technology pkgs.
During the first week of ownership I installed a K&N cold air intake, mud flaps, window vents. The truck already had the Tri-Fold tonneau cover and running boards.
I have a Long list of mods that I’ve already completed and have yet to do.
I LOVE my TRD
Picking mine up today. Lunar Rock with a 6 speed standard. My first ever Toyota.
Nice! you're going to love it!!
@@PeterLoweOne , yes i think i will. I live 10 miles off the nearest paved road so its going to be great for all the gravel roads i drive.
How’s it so far ?
I have the exact same on the way: )

Thank you for a very comprehensive in depth review of this truck. I agree, the 3rd gen, is absolutely the way to go, it’s time tested, a winner, a keeper.
I just got the 22, TRD off road 4x4,tech /premium pkg, no leather, no sunroof, and very happy for that! It’s the double cab v6, short bed.. I originally wanted long bed, but…after parking it in grocery stores, Walmart, etc..I see how far it hangs out into the isle, I DEFINITELY would not want any smaller cab, and I’m very glad I got the short bed!!! I have several trailers I can tow, if I need full sheets of plywood, or drywall, or if I want to go camping, I have an enclosed 6x12’ trailer I can use…I’ve ordered the side step/bars, front bumper, vent guards, bed mat, tailgate mat, bed light kit, fr/r/seat covers to protect the original upholstery, that way I can bring the dog, and not worry so much about dust/dirt, I live 4 miles down a dirt road.. ..I love how many mod/accessories are made/offered for this 3rd gen!!!
Honestly I still think this vehicle offers the best value available. In Ontario this truck is selling for 51500 total plus tax. Auto, Real leather, sunroof, crew cab, 6ft bed, V6. Go ahead and try and find anything close to all of those features for that price. Then add the best resale value and reliability of any midsize truck. It’s still a winner and I suspect this last V6 model will retain value better then ever.
Get one while,you still can!
i have a sport premium with the leather. do u think the leather is real?
Hey from PEI! Thank you for this awesome review, keep up the great work!
Fantastic overview, thank you!
Awesome video, I ordered a 2023 Tacoma sport long bed back in January up here in Ontario Canada and our options are simple three colours to choose from white black and silver couldn’t get LED lights much less a premium package, told six months to wait
Great Video I bought a 23 Sport 3 days ago'
Just bought this over a newer model tacoma. I just like the reliability here a bit more.
As much as I Love the truck, I loathe the hood scoop on the sport trims. Each to their own ig, but it kills the look of the truck for me
It’s what makes it look good I’m on my second port love the scoop but eveyone got different taste
Good video. Researching Tacoma for my next vehicle. Thinking this model or the TRD off-road premium. Seems that the sport has a nicer ride for everyday driving. What is your thoughts on which one is better suited as primary family vehicle?
If you dont plan on off roading then go with the sport. Better ride quality. And if you do plan the occasional offroad adventure then the sport will definitely be up to the task. But if you plan on primarily highway/city town driving then the sport comes out on top
Nice review but I think you forgot the back seat.
Trying to decide between this and the canyon 23 at4!
I had a 2018 Colorado Z71 for a number of years. I really liked the modern transmission and power of the Colorado, and the seating position. That's one big difference, their seating position is VERY different in these trucks and I preferred the Colorado. Having said that, some people have complained about the seat comfort of the Colorado, and I never felt like it was a big issue, but I can see how the seats themselves might be a bit better in the Toyota. The Toyota is going to hold it's value better, but I was able to sell my Colorado for excellent value during Covid when the factory had stopped making new Colorado's and used ones were selling for as much or more than new. I like the look of the upcoming Canyon for sure, it's going to feel a LOT newer than the current Toyota, but again, will it hold its value the same way? I don't know.
I am in the same boat, man oh man, I feel so conflicted. I currently drive a 2010 Toyota Tundra and I want to drive a midsize instead. I just want something with more comforts and amenities. The Taco is a classic and yes it’s very utilitarian. Maybe I’m just not a big bare bones guy and that’s ok. I just worry the GMC won’t last as long. But if you take care of any vehicle it should last pretty long. I’m just gonna try and get a good warranty.
The radar sensors are in the rear bumper, not the taillights
I don't think that's correct. The proximity sensors are in the bumper, those are used for close proximity parking. The radar sensors for blind spot detection are in the lights.
@@PeterLoweOne Then how do they work when people change out the taillights?
And from the UK eventually!! This was your 'night' upload....
Definitely nice truck, but a bit big for over here...
Haha! Yeah, sorry about that. Had a bit of a crazy day, didn't get this up until very late.
Nice Tacoma!
Nice TRD 4x4 sport!
does it not have
JBL speakers?
How much did it cost
Good question. What is the total take home price ?
$47k
It's not an "extended cab" as you said as it's a crew cab!
I fumbled my words. Thanks for watching.
Wait… premium package with no bird eye view camera and no JBL ??
This is a Canadian model truck.
@@PeterLoweOne I am looking at this truck as well. Very annoyed that the Canadian market gets hosed again on the extras.
I got the Access cab long bed. More like a truck than a car.
Yeah. I agree.
My Brother just bought a 2023 Tacoma TRD Sport tonight. Very small. Seats are awful. Feels very unrefined. People who buy these must value reliability and nothing else
Reliability and resale value are big factors for sure! It definitely feels a little dated to me, although I didn't find the seats to be uncomfortable, it's just that the seating position isn't my preference. I think, for a lot of people, this is all the truck that they need, and to be fair, the subtle updates over the years have kept the feature list up to par with competitors. The rumour is that a new Tacoma is just around the corner which will follow the new Colorado, and Frontier, and we can expect a new Ranger and even a new midsized Ram entry. So lots of change is coming to this segment soon.
@@PeterLoweOne I own just got a 2023 TRD Sport, much more refined than the 2011 I traded in. I only have 130 miles on it so can't say much other than the upgraded interior features, noise deadening insulation. Took on it's first fly-fishing trip yesterday. Nice walk through. Mine has the LED lights, Tech package and bed lighting.
Is this the 4x4 or 2wd
4X4. I do show this in the video as I show the switch that changes it from 2high to 4high to 4low.
Damn man it shows it on the bed of the truck 😂
That is not for rear window , side mirrors only. I own one!
If you're talking about the defroster, it would depend on if the vehicle is equipped with a rear window defroster or not.
1991 Land Cruiser has the same cruise control lol
Toyota has used that for a LONG time, but to be fair, it's still one of the best ergonomic designs for cruise control. I like it better than many of the buttons on the wheel that other manufacturers are using.
.it's a crew cab not extended cab . ...nice truck
Yeah. I used the wrong words. I apologize.
@@PeterLoweOne thanks Peter I've been looking into getting a 2023 SR5 to pull a 5 by 9 hiker trailer it weighs 13 lb fully loaded I was wondering how much does the SR 520 32 tow
"long!!"...
And drums
Drum brakes are definitely an interesting call on this vehicle.
If you didn’t know it had drums you would never know. People make a big deal about drums but in reality it makes NO difference. Drums last longer and I believe the Tacoma has a Shorter stopping distance than the Colorado which as 4 corner discs.
First!!!
Get mine next week. Lunar rock 👍
