This is one of the very greatest TV movies ever made. It's so moving and powerful in many different ways. It's quite a hopeful movie to watch too if you happen to still be fighting your way out of your own darkness.... Someone needs to upload the whole thing stat!

It's funny that the actress that is playing Diana's aunt, played her mother in Mahogany decades before. I have to give it up to Miss Ross, she has always played dramatic roles to pure perfection. It's a shame that she lost the Oscar Award in the 70's to Liza Minelli, in Cabaret, but for Miss Ross to go makeup free, sing & play a Drugged out Jazz Singer Billie Holiday, her first leading Role in a film, she deserved that Oscar & then some. She was EXECELLENT in this film as well.
Omg i never knew Diana was such a great actress... she s so underrated.. she should play more often and roles like that are so challenging that truly reveal the greatness or lack of it of any actor.. she s certainly fantastic in that role!

When my sister was in college to get her associate's degree in nursing I had recorded this movie when it first came out she used this in her psych class .
I have always felt that the reason that there was so little attention given to Ross' dynamic performance was the awful editing job. Scenes just end abruptly with no sensible transition, making the film look like a trailer. I realize it had to be truncated to allow for TV commercials, but it was just one huge hack-job. Miss Ross was worthy of much better handling of this piece. It had so much potential that just never fully surfaced.

Is this the movie where this lady goes to a doctor and he prescribes some meds for her but she takes more than directed and she keeps having outbursts? Like towards the end she finds out her husband’s having an affair and she tears the house apart. The husband comes home later that night and sees the place a wreck and can’t even find the phone when it rings. He finds it and it’s the lady saying she’s leaving him.
diane should never have agreed to star in some made for television move. she belongs on the big screen. she makes foolish choices that do nothing to advance her career. this movie didn't win anything because it did poorly in the ratings and was not promoted by the network.
