Great staircase. Love that you use 4 stringers, even on short half runs. And yes, we always add a note to the plans to keep the contractors and subcontractors honest: "BUILDER MUST CHECK AND VERIFY ALL DETAILS AND DIMENSIONS AND REPORT ANY DISCREPANCIES TO THE DESIGNER PRIOR TO ANY ON SITE CONSTRUCTION" - I literally cut and pasted that out of one of my drawing sets. I always add: USE DIMENSIONS ONLY - DO NOT SCALE PLAN to my plans, cuz, if you know, you know.
We don’t build framed stairs here. At this point in construction we would build a temporary staircase out of framing lumber and it’s not attached to the walls. The drywall or plaster runs through and when we’re ready for trim, the stairs are either built in a shop off site or come as a kit with routered stringers and wood shims.
I like using LVL for stringers. But when using 2x12 I will set the stringer and make a mark top and bottom against the wall and then snap a line for my stringer to follow
Out of curiosity, what does the stair guy do with the overhang onthe Advantech? Does he have to trim it off? Why do you leave an overhang? Code for stairs under construction maybe?
I cant get Advantech where I live. I'd have to drive 2 hours away to get it and its way to expensive to ship, even to store. I can get LP Premium but in my area I dont have confidence in subflooring material like that. I'm not a contractor anymore. I am just working on my own home and I've started to use plywood more and more now because of my limited options.
Great video Tim! I've got a question about the nails from that Paslode nailer. My understanding is that it shoots clipped head nails. Back when i was in trade school in Seattle in 2019 I remember hearing that clipped head nails don't meet code in our area. I trust you know the code but I'm curious about the discrepancy. Perhaps this is the code for King county but not Kitsap? I work on Bainbridge Island and would love to use that nailer but I don't want to be in violation of code. Thanks for all the free education you provide!

I love you guys I watch as many of your shows as possible some over and over so I get it into my elderly brain so I can finish my cabin
Glad they help!
Awesome! Thanks for pointing out the stair pun immediately, and not stringering us along. I was going to turn off the video, couldn't stop stairing.🎉
You mad Bro? Am I getting a riser out of you?
I appreciate people who overbuild stuff. Good stuff, Tim!
Good of you to give a shout out to the little guys like Matt Risinger
He's kind of like Candlebox opening for Rush back in 1993 :-)
It's not Rocket Surgery, it's Rock n Roll :) love that reference
love to see the stairs finished

clear explanation and technique good job

Great video
Gluing the back of the treads to the risers also helps with squeaks.

Long runs

This stair gets carpet, and the overhang is code.
Excelente video 👌👌

they are "offset round head". So no clipped head nails 👍
Better to use 2x4 on side of stringer allows for drywall and skirt board
We aren't going to have a skirt board,so 1x is better. If we will have a skirt board, 2x is better 👍😁
Serious question does a framing video really need a musical score?
Yes

looking good as usual brother.
he sounds like ryan renolds
Show me the math love the video
that's in the previous video. This is part 2 and covers the framing
@@AwesomeFramers my mistake
HOUR AFTER HOUR
How will this staircase be finished? Tiles? Carpet? Or…
previous video mentioned carpet
@@AwesomeFramers The steps should have been built with 1 inch rounded edges, don’t you think?
@@Baudesign nope. Why? Carpet pad will round over it
Does Matt Risinger know you are using his favorite word?
probably not, but I think I'll see if he'll link to the video :-)
