We all know that you can use an HSL adjustment to change an object's color, but what can you do to change an object to a specific color? How can you turn an object not just “blue”, but an exact shade of blue? This can be tricky to do, but in this video, we’ll learn a simple technique that anyone can use. Хобби
This is a wonderful tutorial! In the past, I would have used the Recolor adjustment and ‘eye-balled it’. I like the precision of this technique. Thank you. 😊
That's the same thing I used to do too, before I learned this technique... 😅
These are some of the best tutorials I’ve seen. For ANY program or app. You’ve a wonderful way of imparting complex information in a short time frame. I’ve come from the Photoshop world, and you’ve made the transition totally enjoyable and easy to digest. Thanks!!!
Thank you so much! I'm glad you're enjoying the videos. 😊
Never have i learnt so much about an editing program this fast! thak you for your knowledge! ill buy your new designer course! greetings from Mexico!
Muchas gracias desde los Estados Unidos! 😄
Great Tutorial 👍🏿
Just used this today in latest Photoshop. Same exact steps and results, but I had to use CTRL- Click to select layer icon to adjust, and I think color adjustments at the end slightly different setup - would have preferred the Affinity setup. Thanks so much for the excellent video.
Fantastic tutorial, Ally. Your teaching style is really effective and refreshing in the midst of all the extreme personalities here on YT. It’s nice to just get good solid content.
Thank you Steven! 😊
You are doing an EXCELLENT job! I must admit, I had doubts when you first took over from your husband, but you have eased into his chair quite well, happily!!! Keep the awesomeness coming!!!
Thank you Dave! I had doubts too... 😅
Hey. I really love listening to your voice, accentuation and pace. Thanks to this, I am happy to listen to the entire tutorial. Thank you! ☺️
Thank you! 🤗
There are not many Affinity tutorials on RUclips, and I am lucky to have found such a well-explained tutorial on colour change by Affinity.
Now I can change the image's colour without asking a designer to do it for me.
Thank you so much!
Thank you! I'm glad you liked the video. 🤗
Fantastic video. Incredibly informative. I've watched and practiced the instructions and have resolved color problems that have plagued my photography. Hats off to this gifted instructor.
Thank you Monica! 😊
I've been using Photoshop for many many years. I actually bought affinity about 5 years ago but never really used it. Getting into it more this week and found these videos. Extremely awesome and easy to follow. Looking forward to watching and learning more! Definitely subscribing!

Thank you for your tutorials! I was looking for some Russian videos but it’s a big pleasure to listen to your voice. Subscribed without any doubts

You're welcome! Glad it was helpful. 😊
I got 95% of the color change I needed 1st try out of the box. Best painting program tutorial ever! I really like your presentation style.

Many thanks for the great tutorials. Exactly this function I have been looking for so long and now I can finally do it. Thanks a lot!
Thank you! I'm glad you enjoyed the tutorial! 😊
Thank you for your tutorials. These are excellent and with a smile it's even better.
Thank you! 😊
I always wanted to be able to do this and now I can!
By the way: if you have to change a light colour into a dark one, set the black level to 50% and the white output to 100%. Then decrease the white out until you have reached the desired colour.
Thanks for the tip! 😊
What a wonderful charming smiley friendly style of presenting. Really enjoyed this tut. Fun ending too!
Haha I'm glad you caught the ending... 😅
So much easier than I ever imagined. Thank you for the easy to follow tutorial.

You're welcome! Glad you liked the tutorial. 😊
Love the way you explain every step with patient. Keep going!
Thank you so much! 😊
I love how you explain everything in a simple way. I always struggled with the program until I started to see these tutorials.
If by any chance you read my comment, please pass this message to the developers. There is a huge potential for Affinity to sell big in the Arab would. We are hesitant to move to it only because it lakes RTL writing which is essential in our language.
Otherwise, I really enjoy all 3 Affinity programs and wish wish to share them with my friends.
I wish they would add RTL. So many people have asked for it. Maybe one day!
This video helped my understand what I had to do to edit an graphic image, and put a colored background around it. Thanks very much. I have been learning to use Affinity Photo and Publisher for past four weeks to help self-publish my wife's first novel. This helped my create the logo for out publications outfit name.
That's great! I hope the book turns out just the way you both want it to. 😊
I wanted to use these tutorials to become more creative in my personal pics. So far I've only messed with my friend's Instagram photos. Thanks for another great video.
Just keep practicing, and your skills will get better and better. 😊
You must have been an expert of Photoshop before. Wonderful tutorial and personality.
Thank you! That's so kind of you to say. 😊
Thank you. Your teaching skills are perfect for new starters.

Thank you Alberto! 🤗
I used this technique to recolor the garage door and rain gutters on a photo of our house to see how they would look before painting.
I wanted to match the gutter to the trim color and the garage door to the stucco color.
Variations:
1 Select an area of existing color, blur, take a color sample, undo blur, delete selection, draw a rectangle which will appear in the selected color. Do the same for the new colors taken from a already painted areas.
2 I found that in the case of one color that in addition to changing the level, I had to also adjust the luminosity to match colors.
Very nice use of photo editing! Thanks for sharing.

Nice tutorial! This is great, even easier than using the LAB method IMHO.
BTW- I find that the local color and value of the object, pending the lighting covers a wide enough range, is often just a little away from the terminator. I've seen painters use this method and it seems to work well for applications like this.
Great tip, thanks! 😊
Thanks for the Exact colour of Anything tutorial much appreciated!

Thank you! Glad you liked the video. 😊
Thanks for this tutorial!
Was having a real difficult time at the 6:20 mark though until I started over. In windows, when I was creating my "group" and selecting it, instead it drug the whole picture around and the group (or selection square) stays in place or the second thing it did is select the entire outer box of the image so when I move the group its one huge transparent box that moves around the smaller colored box.
I'm not sure if this was a similar issue some other users were having but I found out you need to lock the background image before starting anything and need to make double sure you are selecting the right layer while following along.
Good tips, thanks for sharing!
This is what I am Looking for , thanks for sharing . love from Istanbul

I almost fell off my bed laughing at her reaction when she realized that when she switched to the brush tool the color blue got reselected 😂🤣😂🤣🙃 great video though I’m learning a lot. I enjoy being subscribed to this channel.
Haha I'm glad you enjoyed that.... 😅
Thanks I learn much this Morning
You're welcome! Thanks for watching. 😊
Thank you, this has been very helpful! When using a paper roll backdrop, should I change the background color this way too? Or should I use another method? Sometimes its hard to change the background color without affecting the hair.
Yes, hair is always tricky to work with. But if you can make a good selection of the wall, then this technique will work great to change its color. Or you can use an HSL adjustment, if you don't need the color to be an exact color.
Some really good educational videos.
Thanks.
Thank you! 😊
Brilliant approach
Thank you! 😊
I just switched from the Adobe suite and have a little learning curve. Thank you for the wonderful and concise presentation ~Subscribed :-)
Thank you! 🤗
this is awesome, and it helped me so much, i appreciate ti.
Thank you! I'm glad you liked it! :)
Great video. I would have thought to use the "color picker" to pick up the red, but it never really worked as easily. This video not only covers the color changing, but gets into techniques that use masking, etc that can be used elsewhere. A question...There is a "halo" around the sweater. How would you remove that?
To get rid of the haloing, I would apply a brightness and contrast adjustment, lower the brightness, invert the adjustment, and then paint in white over just the halo edge. Then you could use blend ranges to make it so the adjustment is only applied to the brightest parts of the photo (the halo) by bringing down the 3rd blend range node. 🙂
Fabulous information!
Thank you! Glad you liked the video. 😊
Her voice is very soothing to the ears.
Thank you! 😄
Great information & thank you for sharing. From the UK.

I really like this video. Thanks!
Thank you! Glad you liked the video. 😊
you are amazing, thanks
Thanks Cris! Glad you liked the video. 😊
Very clever technique. One question: In your final edit, there is a cyan highlight around the sweater from the adjustment applying to the yellow background. Is there a convenient way to correct this other than brushing the mask? Sometimes brushing can be difficult on sharp edges like this. Thanks!
Unfortunately, the only solution is careful painting/masking. There's no easy way around things like that.
Wow very clever!
Thank you! 🤗
Your videos rock!

Haha that's awesome 😄
I learnt a lot studying that video. GREAT! However: I finally tried to apply it to a different image where the model was wearing something white and I tried to change the color to pink. This works fine for the areas where the white is close to the average sample, takes hardly any color in lighter areas and will result in an ugly orange or red in darker areas.
Now I assume this technique requires a good color saturation of the area to be adapted. Is there any way I can make it work on white as well?
By the way: brandcolors.net is up again
It's true, this technique works best when changing a color to a different color. It does not work well when dealing with black or white.
And thanks for pointing that out! I'll add the link back to the video description. :)
